zerosignal0
Hey Guys, So I have had some experience installing OSX in the past on dell gear (like optiplex 760) and a couple of other non dell systems so I decided to give a try with a D820 that I have laying around. I have been using the guide :http://www.r2x2.com/users/lsb/weblog/1b8db/ and have used my storebought 10.6.3 install disc. Everything works great for the most part after the install however if I attempt to get opengl working, flush kextcache or perform an osx update to anything above the version installed I get the black screen of death and / or loss of wireless connectivity. I have done some research and came across :http://osx86blog.blogspot.com/2009/10/intel-gmax3100-and-gma950-sleep-display.html I have performed the steps mentioned here to no avail (my system doesnt appear to be accepting arch=i386 either as once its booted I can use an external monitor to login and see that all the of the apps running are 64bit. Anyone have any ideas on what I can try next? I believe I have this machine pretty well completed but I just need to figure out what is necessary to get it stable with the kexts / updates loading correctly. Any suggestions are welcome! -z Forgot to mention I am running A10 (latest bios revision)
zerosignal0
UPDATE: I have been able to successfully get my install updated to 10.6.6 and with configuring com.apple.Boot.plist with GraphicsEnabler=No I am able to boot with everything working except graphics acceleration. At this point I am going to take a snapshot with time machine since this is a mostly usable state (except kernel panic on fullscreen video)... So now the question is does anyone have ideas on getting gma950 working? I have already tried a couple of different versions off of kexts.com with no success. I have been running pfix after every kext change as well and verified that root:wheel owns the proper files. -Z
Administrators Bronxteck Posted February 16, 2011 Administrators Share Posted February 16, 2011 It seems you either need a patched dsdt.. or patched video kexts from 10.6.0 disc. have you tried building as a d620 intel graphics in edp?
zerosignal0
Hey Bronx, No I have not. Since I haven't found a machine yet that was fully supported I have yet to use DSDTs so I might nee to readup on how to patch one from another model. Administrators Bronxteck Posted February 17, 2011 Administrators Share Posted February 17, 2011 edp didn't install a dsdt in extra for you? check in /models/d8x0-intel folder and see if there is one in there if not mariusz has one posted on the forum... d620/
zerosignal0
So I tried to install using the DSDT and included files but I kept getting either kernel panic on the acpi powerkexts or it would stall with other errors involving ACPI. Basically what I have done now is reinstalled with the disc I had mentioned earlier and installed a vanilla 10.6.3 which OOB works perfect on everything... If anyone has any other ideas to try I can make a timemachine backup and give them a whirl for getting 10.6.6 working. Thanks! -Z
Administrators Bronxteck Posted February 18, 2011 Administrators Share Posted February 18, 2011 when you are on the chameleon boot screen, type: pmVersion=21 that should help.... and if it does then you have to add it to com.apple.boot.plist Kernel Flags busratio=
