alsonluo
I did fresh Maverick installation on Vostro 200 with myhack. Everything goes well. If boot with -x and it is OK; if boot normal, it won't work, it boot with -npci=0x3000 and it was stuck on the login windows.
Administrators Hervé Posted November 14, 2013 Administrators Share Posted November 14, 2013 Did you look at the Vostro 200 guide and use the bootpack? What graphics card do you use? The built-in GMA3100 is unsupported. https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/2032-dell-vostro-200/
alsonluo
Yes, I installed the bootpack. The graphics card is GF 8300gs,

Also I tried to use ml 's bootpack and no luck. boot to login window and I put my password then it was stuck again. However, if boot with -x then I can login
alsonluo
found another graphics card nv 7300gt and it works.
Administrators Hervé Posted November 21, 2013 Administrators Share Posted November 21, 2013 I understood nVidia 7300 card to be unsupported in 64bit-only versions of OS X (ML & Mav)... If you boot the OS Ok, do you actually have graphics acceleration?
alsonluo
No, not support QE/CI.
Administrators Hervé Posted November 25, 2013 Administrators Share Posted November 25, 2013 Ok, that's what I was expecting. If you get full QE/CI in ML with the GeForce 8300GS, I would have thought it would be the same in Mav, but maybe the nVidia kext needs patching for the 8300GS. Failing that, I would recommend you opt for a known supported card; there are some very cheap models like the one I use.
alsonluo
Here is what I got: on ml 10.8.2, 8300gs supports QE/CI, however 7300gt can not boot in normal, safe mode is ok. on mav 10.9, 8300gs was stuck in log in windows, and safe mode is ok. 7300gt is ok to boot in normal, but not supported QE/CI
