Fawxy
I've just set up my mackintosh after following the optimus enabled guide here: https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/7268-dell-latitude-e6430e6530-with-optimus-enabled/ I'm currently running 10.9.5, A13 bios, optimus enabled. When I scroll in apps like Skype or sometimes browser the screen seems to flash a lot. On first boot as well, as soon as it powers up in immediately goes into sleep mode and then works fine once it's powered up after that. Multitouch on the trackpad also isn't great but I can live with it... Any ideas? Should I reinstall without optimus?
Moderators Jake Lo Posted May 19, 2015 Moderators Share Posted May 19, 2015 Try running myHack/myfix again to repair cache, see if that fixes the problem. If you want to try without optimus, there's no need to reinstall. Just replace the DSDT.aml with bootpack here. And change BIOS to disable Optimus. You'll lose sleep/wake capability with this config and will need to hard shutdown. You could try caffeine.app to keep system from sleeping.

Fawxy
I'm now on 10.9.5 with optimus disabled. No multitouch (yet, i'll install the drivers later) but the graphics side of things is stable which was my biggest issue. Had to do a full reinstall because after running myFix it would lock up after about ten minutes and never recovered. I tried doing a yosemite install but it wouldn't boot into the installer
Moderators Jake Lo Posted May 21, 2015 Moderators Share Posted May 21, 2015 MyHack won't work with Yosemite. Try my guide. Bootpack on post #3 of the guide.
Fawxy
Yeah I followed your guide but it didn't work. I'm still having issues with mavericks. It was working fine for a couple of hours, but now it just freezes again after a few minutes or the screen goes off and won't come back on. 10.9.5 with this guide https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/5660-dell-latitude-e6430-nvs5200m-and-hd-4000/?p=29476is how I installed it. No optimus.
Moderators Jake Lo Posted May 21, 2015 Moderators Share Posted May 21, 2015 As I said, with the Nvidia card you don't have sleep. Once the screen goes blank it initiates sleep, only way to recover is to reboot. Go to preference to have display off to never and HDD sleep to never or use Caffeine.app to set system to not allow sleep.
