z51-70 Webcam Support

Dear community,

Now that the wired Ethernet connection is working like a charm, thanks to Mieze (http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/287161-new-driver-for-realtek-rtl8111/page-51), I'm struggling with the webcam.

It's given to be supported http://www.osxlatitude.com/edp/compatibility/but I can't get it to work. I don't even see anything, neither in the camera, nor in the USB sections of System Information. The same webcam is fully operational under Windows 8.

Any idea? Did you also encounter this problem?

Thanks in advance,

Vincent

Thanks Bronxteck, I don't really like your answer, but I understand ;-)

Does anyone can tell me who did the tests and the validation of the z51-70 with El Capitan???

First, the wired ethernet connection, and now the webcam, both given to be fully compatible with 10.11 by this website, and none of them are working: http://www.osxlatitude.com/edp/compatibility/

EDP team is saying that only tested laptop models are displayed, ant it seems to me that the z51-70 didn't pass the test. Anyone has any info on how the tests are conducted?

Thanks

Vincent

dinesh is the one that adds the machines as they get tested so at the date the machine is added it was compatible. it does not necessarily mean its 100% compatible with apples latest updates after that point in time. good example is the new lan beta kext in your link. it just came out as a solution and it's not yet in EDP since that kext is still in beta stage. also there is no provision to show what works in every os update on the compatibility site.

Thanks for this piece of information.

It's still weird to me that the webcam device isn't even present as un unknown device in System Information.

Is there anything in the SSDT that could make it visible/invisible?

What steps can I follow to further investigate?

Thanks in advance!

well El Cap now determines what ports it allows to be seen/used by smbios identifier. you have to edit an info.plist and add your own ports to the smbios definition your using. i do not have specifics on that as i have not needed to edit anything for el cap on my hardware.
