Disabled hibernation. Still freezes after a ~10 minutes of use and sleep still makes the HDD indicator go wild. :< So close yet so far!

Completed those tasks and still randomly freezes after a few minutes run time. Also, sleep doesn't work (HDD light goes wild). Also tried swapping out VirtualSMC with FakeSMC and no change. Also after reading about sleep issues the results of the following commands: pmset -g ls -la /var/vm Thank you. debug_5811.zip

For readers... I had to run that quite a few times to get it to go through right. Restarted to Clover and pressed F2 and F4 to generate various logs so this script could copy them. Install required: sudo mount -uw / Folder was placed on desktop with zip file. debug_30554.zip

Hey guys! E6440 i7 12 GB DDR3 A13 Intel&ATI graphics Last post I made was about a complete failure to get to the installer screen - turned out that motherboard was on the way out and after I replaced it the system gets there no problem. So I'm not a complete idiot! Yay! I managed to get Catalina booting and everything working (audio, video, mouse) with the help of one of the installer & post installer EFI packs on here. IIRC the post mentioned that SSDTs (or DSDT?) were included to deal with a usb issue. I am guessing that my lack of custom DSDT/SSDT is what is causing these freezes, and I'm planning on diving into producing them when I get the time to dive into that rabbit hole, but I was just wondering if there could be anything else causing this problem. Also booting with ktexts in clover EFI folder, not other suggested system folder. Thanks for all your help.

Thought I'd offer an update. The motherboard on the E6440 failed soon after this attempt. I replaced it with another from ebay. I retried that tutorial and got to the installer quickly. I suspect my difficulties were due to the failing hardware.

I found this interesting post which suggests its cpu DSDT related: //tonycrap link removed upon request from respected community member: future readers might search "[solved] Dell Inspiron 3250 CPU Swap, Kext Stall, Unsupported CPU Error", but be aware that site is taboo I'll work on implementing their solution and post update. --- and update... removing dsdt files didn't do anything for me, but I'm also a newb, so perhaps I don't know how to actually remove them properly.

Sadly this did not solve the issue. It did make those sound errors go away. I still am stuck on: kextd stall[0], (240s) 'iGPU' Also tried creating a Mojave installer and same thing.

Everything is set up for UEFI, but per your question I double checked my bios and noted it was set to support legacy booting, so that's been disabled. Here is current stuck position: If you'd like I can review all BIOS settings and rewrite the installation media before requesting further assistance. Thank you for your help.

Hey RamiTrainFan and Jake Lo! To Rami: Did you find success following Jake Lo's suggestion of using Herve's tutorial? To Jake Lo: I also have a dual graphics card E6440 and meticulously used your general stickied High Sierra tutorial and failed to boot into installer and I am wondering why you didn't suggest using that tutorial instead. Do you think following Herve's tutorial will produce better results for me? Thank you! (Hope ya'll don't mind me tacking onto this topic instead of making a new one as this is directly related.)
