  1. Hello! First post here, but have used this guide a lot by myself, trying to solve a problem. Using ALC236 on a laptop. Pathmap and Layout uses correct nodes according to this guide (great guide btw!) and codec verbs are good. CodecCommander also installed. I'm having a weird problem. After boot, I can play songs or other sounds without issue. But after approximately 20 seconds, sound out gets a distortion. It sounds scratched or poppy. Glitchy. Sound also disappears for a seconds sometimes, and then resumes. This happens on both internal speakers and headphones. I have found a weird fix for it. If I enable the mic, the problem disappears instantly. It works at once. This can be done either by opening SysPref->Audio, Audio In pane, or opening Quicktime and starting new audio recording. No recording necessary, just putting it at standby and mic on solves it. And as soon as I close SysPref or Quicktime the problem starts again. Directly. To me this seems like there is some node, or something, that is enabled when computer boots.. and then goes into sleep. Or some form of standby/off. And when the mic is enabled the node is woken up. And even though this node is not specified in Codec Dump as necessary for audio output, it evidently is. The theory might be completely wrong but my observations are reproduceable at boot, reboot and wake after sleep. All the time, never fails. The mic solves the problem on both headphones and internal speakers. Does anyone have a clue what is going on? Many thanks in that case. And thanks for the guide!
