  1. Also why is it requesting i386? Shouldn't ML system be 64-bit?
  2. No output from console when I use that command. Also moving the E/E directory gave me a KP. I used Myfix to get back into the desktop but now there is no wifi. Going to myfix again and reboot, and may have to put that Extra/Extensions back into place. How do I manually delete and recreate the file? I have tried trashing the whole startup folder but it still does not make the file that chameleon is looking for. Edit: Didn't realize the CLI command was given in a post at the top of the page -- trying that now.
  3. I have the file you are specifying, which surprises me -- the error in Chameleon says that /System/Library/Cache/com.apple.kext.caches/Startup/KernelCache is not found.
  4. I managed to get Myhack to run a full Myfix, and KW DID make a startup and directory folder, however Chameleon still does not see a kernelcache folder (and neither do I). Any ideas? Really strange, can't seem to find this issue anywhere either.
  5. Rebooted and Cache still could not be found, rerunning KW / Myhack full and its still hanging up, I'll post back in about 20 minutes with an update. Would myhack's Remove Problematic Kexts utility help at all here?
  6. I do not have -f in the chameleon boot.plist, and I have UseKernelCache=Yes in there. I realized last night the issue is that none of the Kext utilities I have tried are creating caches. the Extension.mkext after being removed from my Extra folder is not recreated by Kext Wizard, and there is nothing but a .gz compressed file in the S/L/C/Startup -- isn't there supposed to be a mkext / kext folder? P.S. Last night it was saying "Kernel Cache Ignored" Now it is saying it cannot find one @Patel - I realize now this problem might not be related to SSD / TRIM because I also had removed kexts for my old USB dongle after the new SSD, possibly the culprit -- but more importantly wtf is going on with my cache folder! And when I first installed the SSD it was booting in like 10 seconds, with or without trim (must have been with cache though) Edit -- When I reset the NVRAM and reboot, and then repaired permissions / rebuild kext in KW, I was able to have it create an extensions.mkext file. Now I am repairing the cache in S/L/E and it has been working for a good time now - maybe 5-10 minutes. So I am hoping this will be the fix *fingers crossed*
  7. Hello again guys, I did not even realize this until the other day - but since enabling TRIM on my SSD my machine ignores the kernel cache on every boot. I have UseKernelCache=yes in plist but it is still ignored which is making for REALLY long boot times. I have repaired cache a few times with myhack and kext wizard. Any tips?
  8. Patel -- don't worry about it, you have helped more than enough so far my temporary fix is cheap and solid. Ladsjohn -- thanks for the input, I will try switching to VGA before ML boots up and see if I get anywhere, if not I bet an upgrade to 10.8.4 will do the trick. Keep us up to date with the update (no pun intended) -- would like to try to update to 10.8.5 if I have to update to 10.8.4 but don't want to break my system doing it. Also I just picked up a Crucial m4 128gb from microcenter for 89$ great deal and see a decent decrease in boot time / read speeds when opening apps. I would like to know any tips to optimizing boot time on an SSD if anyone has any. (TRIM is enabled)
  9. Another double post (sorry) -- But something important to share. I still can not seem to get onboard VGA port to work, however at microcenter I picked up a Cirago Displayport to DVI adapter and worked fine from the first test. Didn't even need to detect displays it just booted in extended mode with the external as the lead monitor. Also it only cost $15 so well worth the money, would still like to get onboard VGA working so I don't have to carry this dongle everywhere, but a much better solution in comparison to lugging around a docking station Edit - this is the link to the item, guess I missed on the $5 discount lol http://www.microcenter.com/product/367684/DisplayPort_to_DVI_Single_Link_Adapter
  10. Thanks for the info -- I am on 10.8.3 (should've mentioned that ><) and I agree the only kext in that zip that would have affected VGA use is the PCI kext. However I don't want to test too much unless I can have someone that has full functionality helping On a side note, just installed my 1510 card and works like a charm! PS - Your comment is making me consider upgrading to 10.8.4, anything I should be aware of when upgrading? (If not in the OP?) I have upgrading my desktop workstation from 10.8.0 - 10.8.3 but using different post installation utilities -- I know things like sounds kexts usually get reset to apple. Edit - You said you removed the Original PCI kext correct? If so can you upload it?
  11. Don't mean to double post but I STILL cannot get the damn VGA to work. Have tried multiple bios settings with multiple monitors. The biggest variable I see (considering we are all following the same guide here) is my wifi dongle. I am expecting my Dell wifi card today or tomorrow in the mail and will try again with a new card in (but I highly doubt that will be the issue). Does anyone have ANY ideas what else it could be? I would prefer not to have to lug a dock with me in order to use an external monitor. I know some of you got it working -- TELL ME HOW Again: A15 bios, Cham 2.1, Nvidia GFX card, and followed this guide exactly. Earlier a poster said to try installing without the non-release specific ML zip -- The Kexts in there are not directly graphics related but may play a part? Any input / ideas / tips would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks again everyone
  12. I may have to get one of those, if anyone has vga working could you please check your Serial Port / Parallel Port settings and let me know? I wouldn't be surprised if it was just an overlooked bios setting..
  13. I tried another monitor and still no video. Anyone have ANY idea why this is happening? Everything works except this and I really do NEED an external monitor. Has anyone had this problem AND fixed it?
  14. Where is the option located in the bios? I just updated to A15 and still don't see it. edit: After updating Bios I still get the same black screen I have chameleon 2.1 which was the supposed fix. Does anyone have any other ideas?
  15. Thanks. Also I found a post earlier in the thread where a poster had the same problem as me, he fixed it by not installing the S/L/E contents of the ML e6410 zip (not 10.8.x) Which of these Kexts would be responsible or can be removed without preventing me from booting?
  16. Patel can you please do me a favor and check to see if your bios rev has an option to enable / disable vga?
  17. I just had to double check myself, but I did not see an option to enable or disable I am on A12. Also, before getting ML working, I was using Windows 7 on this machine with an external monitor -- so I know it works
  18. Sorry I just got a chance to try this out, screen goes black after detecting displays -- no display on external monitor.
  19. I am trying to get vga output to work for adding a second monitor. I upgraded to Chameleon 2.1 and I still am not getting display. When I pressed the Dell function combo for display options it crashed the computer. Any suggestions?
  20. Laptop is running great, but it seems that ML is running a little hotter than 7 was. Is this the common understanding? I know that on my Desktop OSX ran cooler than Win 7 but that is a completely different setup (Win 7 is a power hogger on that machine that is also gaming). I removed the nullcpumanagement.kext / may never have even installed it because I knew I wouldn't need it. Some earlier posts were suspecting it to be gpu related -- but it most definitely hottest under the CPU fan, and especially after charging or running for a few hours. Really this isn't even a big deal since I just bring it to and from work everyday and then it's off to conserve battery in the car / travel. But I am curious if anyone has found a solid fix. Ladsjohn - Wish I could help you identify what is hurting you're eyes. I can tell you that the reason I bought an e6410 in the first place was for the beautiful screen (however, what really made me buy was 10.8 capability for the price). I am an IT guy and we deployed a few of these monster with win7 and nvidia cards and I can tell you that they look SO much better with Nvidia than intel. I have a feeling your eyes are still adjusting to the new quality of display.
  21. This is my first fully successful Hackbook (have done many desktops now) and you have seriously made it a breeze, so glad I did not cough up the extra couple hundred for a HP Probook.
  22. Used a quick Myfix, and it took care of the problem, as well as dramatically reducing boot time, Thanks Patel
  23. Ok I have repaired permissions several times since last night, still does not work correctly, I temporarily added -f to the boot flag. Only variable I can think of is that after repairing permissions I hit select restart from the apple menu, and then the computer hangs on a white screen and I have to force the power off. Does not happen with a regular shut down, either way doesn't fix the -f issue. EDIT: Also plan to run to Microcenter today and pick up a wifi USB stick, anyone recommend something cheap and small as a placeholder for the internal card? Thanks to Microcenter's amazing return policy I just need something to last 2 weeks til I return it. Thanks again guys, this thread has been a lifesaver.
