  1. Does anyone use their Dell laptop with the optional Multi Bay battery to extend their running time? The OS recognises the second battery, but cannot distinguish between it being plugged in or running on battery power. The OS states "Not currently charging" when unplugged, and does not give an accurate percentage estimate. There is only 1 battery reported in the system profile. I've tried both VoodooBatter and AppleACPIBattery and both yield the same results. Can anyone shed any light or suggestions? Thanks, James
  2. In my haste, I trashed my 10.6.7 partition as I thought I had Lion working flawlessly, however some niggly bugs have meant I've decided to move back to Snow Leopard. I've started right from the beginning - 10.6.0 installed and boots fine with EDP 1.8. I'm now updating to 10.6.7 and will reinstall EDP and Chameleon just to be sure this works. Is this the right course of action? Also, I know there has been limited support and lots of problems for 10.6.8, especially on D630 Intel machines - is it worth the upgrade? have the issues surrounding this version been fixed? Which version of EDP is recommended, does 1.9 support 10.6.7 and 10.6.8? Thanks, James
  3. I'm considering going back to SL - I've got big issues with Lion too. I get random lockups where the cursor will still move, the HD activity light continues suggesting it's still working, but nothing from the display and unable to do anything without a hard reset. I'll go back to SL for now, and continue testing Lion on a second partition.
  4. Hi Leon, Thanks, I've got it up and running. Battery life seems a bit less than Snow Leopard, with around 2.5 hrs reported vs 3 hrs from a full charge on SL. Have you experienced a difference in battery life on your Dell? James
  5. I've been trying to use the latest EDP 1.9 to install the relevant Kexts on my Dell D630 Intel without success, it KPs at boot and it's not obvious why. I have a working Lion install thanks to some great help from Simeonoff, Bronxteck and others, but I don't have any power management working. I've been trying to install VoodooPstate manually using Kext Wizard but this also causes a KP on boot, CoolBook I'm told doesn't work on Lion. Any suggestions? Thanks, James
  6. Hi. I've tried each of the options in EDP v1.9 as far as trackpad and keyboard kexts and am still without a working trackpad. It's very confusing as I have 10.6.7 installed using the same EDP version and everything works. I've also not had success with sound using VoodooHDA 2.7.2 in /S/L/E or in Extras/Extensions - perhaps I should use the installer package instead of the Kext directly? Thanks, James
  7. I've successfully installed based on this method - so thanks for your help! I have 2 issues - 1. Trackpad is not working, need to use USB mouse - keyboard is fine 2. Sound - I have no sound. Is it safe to run EDP to change mouse driver and install VoodooHDA?
  8. Thanks for your contribution simeonoff! I made progress yesterday, using my DSDT (from working 10.6.8) and editing as per Devious' suggestion above. This will not allow me to boot into the install routine - on first attempt I selected a partition to install to, and the system halted very shortly after the progress bar showed, saying 'Installing Lion' and giving an estimated time of 20 minutes. I rebooted and this time it's erroring saying I cannot install Lion on this computer - I'm guessing something has gone astray here. I will give your suggested method a try! Thanks for your help everyone!
  9. What steps did you take Bronxteck? I did the following without success... Restore Lion Image to clean partition Install Chameleon RC5 Install EDP Tried to boot but just ends up rebooting. I'm going to try Devious' method - with the correct DSDT and see how I get on Thanks!
  10. It should have dawned on me - the files quite clearly say NVIDIA! Whoops. I can certainly send you my working DSDT that I've got running on 10.6.7 - that would be great. Out of interest - I have an image of a clean install of Lion on a Macbook Pro (from the notes, Clean Install Snow Leopard, Clean Install Lion - shutdown before Intro Video/Registration and image) - do you think there's a chance of getting this working or would the install method posted via InsanelyMac be best? Thanks, James
  11. Hey Devious I've got a D630 intel and tried following your guide + that on insanelymac but without success. When booting the install partition, I get a terminal screen (as with verbose mode) that runs through a long list of files it's loading, and then finally the system just reboots. Are there any tips on getting this working, or could you perhaps share an image of your working install (I can host it). Thanks, James
