  1. I reduced Gain completely and the hiss completely went away.
  2. actually, you are right. I am getting a hissing noise. I hadn't noticed it initially. How should I edit the plist.info to get rid of this hiss? TIA
  3. No, I am not that advanced to know how to edit the info.plist (unless I can copy paste the plist info from somewhere else ). There is no hissing noise. I played a few youtube videos and listened to some mp3s and they all sounded fine.
  4. I didn't know version 2.8.7 even existed. multi-beast (or multifail as you guys call it!) only includes 2.8.4 (which worked with Mavericks), so I just google the new version you suggested and was able to install it. Sound is working properly now. Thanks so much.
  5. installed Yosemite today, but audio is not working. Voodoo 2.8.4 was working on mavericks, but not with yosemite. any ideas? Thanks
  6. Ok guys, I am seriously in need of help here and this system is driving me crazy! I bought two graphics cards (one 2GB EVGA GeForce GT 610 and the second one is an 1GB EVGA GeForce 8400GS..With both, I am encountering the same problem (spinning pinwheel) at the second screen as before. By the way, this time I tried unifail. Maybe that's why I am getting this error. I will try with myhack and see if it produces different results. Edit: Great Success! Here goes. This might be helpful for someone who has a small form factor Dell Optiplex 9010. I inserted the EVGA 8400GS, prepared myhack installer and installed as directed. Since I was using an nvidia graphics card, I had to type GraphicsEnabler=Yes, otherwise the system would go to power save mode immediately after the apple logo screen. Anyway, the installation didn't fail - it actually said succeeded. The mistake I made was to use the patch presented by the OP (I didn't need this because I wasn't using the built in Intel GPU). So, this is what I did - I plugged in the flash drive with myhackinstaller again and ran myhack from it and this time, I said install extras, but used the generic one. That's it. After that, I crossed my fingers and booted the system with GraphicsEnabler = Yes and it was a grand success! After installation, I ran multifail (chameleon, stolen and rebranded) and only installed the ethernet drivers and voodooHD 2.8.4 drivers. So, pretty much everything works well now. I can't thank you guys enough - all of you have been great and I couldn't have installed this without the helpful feedback I got from everyone here. Of course, patience is key and willingness to experiment. Over the weekend, I will try this with the 2GB GeForce GT610 card as well (since OSX Mavericks has built in support for 6xx cards). I'll post an update on that sometime on Sunday if everything goes well. One question that remains is how do I circumvent entering GraphicsEnabler=Yes every time I boot? Thanks in advance.
  7. Thanks. I will go to the nearest microcenter today and check out how much these cost. Will report back soon.
  8. I downloaded OSX Mavericks last night and successfully prepared a USB install stick using myhack 3.2. To be honest, I didn't quite understand step 4 (when it prompts, ask it to use own Extra). Anyway, I plugged in the myhack OSX installer flash drive and successfully booted from it. However, it is getting stuck at the 2nd screen (the screen with the apple logo comes and disappears - so I think everything until this step is okay). I am stuck at this gray screen with the spinning beachball/pinwhell. Any thoughts or suggestions? By the way, in BIOS, I have disabled the graphics card and am using a displayport cable to connect to the onboard graphics card to the monitor. Thanks in advance. Edit: Looks like dboriack from above is having the same problem as me. Damn this stupid HD 2500 graphics. Can anybody suggest a cheap graphics card that will help me successfully install OSX mavericks? I don't need anything fancy.
  9. Thanks, Jake. I will try it today after disconnecting the graphics card.
  10. I have a dell optiplex 9010 DT with an AMD 5750 graphics card. How do I disable the graphics card? Also, will OP's bootpack work with mine? It is a corei5 with 4gb RAM and 500GB hard disk? Thanks in advance.
