  1. hmm.. i noticed that in bios for your model there is setting for configuring if you want the machine to be "quite" or have "performance" .. did you fiddle with that ?

Yes, I set "performance" and now it works more or less fine. May be another changes in my system gave me effect... dunno.

  2. Now new version of IOPCIFamily. I checked it with Dell Inspiron. No problem, no changes.

I'll test with Latitude at evening.

Will you be so kind to test it at your computers?

Do not forget to clear caches cool.gif

  3. Tested it out again, and here is my wishlist.

    1. Remove the "drag on touchpad"

    2. Support "disabling/enabling tapping"

    3. Add right/bottom scroll

and boom. .we have a perfect driver :D .. good work

    1. I should disable it by prefPane. Later.

    2. Supports... huh.gif

    3. Already here.

Sirs, are you able to test anything?

    Remove doubles.

    Clear caches.

Provide reports as bdmesg, ioreg, kernel.log etc...

  4. As I see many of problems related to PCI bus. The most dangerous are SDReader and PCMCIA. May be also sleep problem and crackling sound.

So I begin to study what is IOPCIFamily and how it works with the hardware.

I think you already have some observations about different versions of it?

  5. Nope, removed the kext since it overwrote it.

I tried putting it in /s/l/e but then i can't boot at all... also tested on a another installation using ur latest bootloader+ur dsdt+ur smbios etc. etc.. same.. strange..

D420 is not the same as D430. Did you use IOPCIFamily 2.6.3 as me?

I have some doubts that I use native DSDT. I seems have to install Windows to check Everest.

  6. I test IOPCMCIAFamily.kext and it doesn't work at all.

It's a pity the driver is not finished by Apple so I hope after Chun-Nan corrections it will works as is. But still no hope.

    My version is more verbose

    But also doesn't work.

Don't know what is mean AdjustResourceInfo, further investigations needed.

  7. Check bios settings?

It was the first I did. See no any usefull about.

  8. New information about.

    ioreg

        | +-o PNLF <class IOACPIPlatformDevice, id 0x10000012a, registered, matched, active, busy 0 (67 ms), retain 7>
       | | | {

       | | | "name" = <4150503030303200>
       | | | "AppleMaxBrightness" = 0x378

    Boot brightness = 0xe6 = 230

    Max brightness = 0x378 = 1000

We should find a way to set good value at startup.

  9. hmm... have you tried using the EDP package and see if that makes a diffrence, the dsdt.aml from dsdt contains some stuff for the HD

Btw.. what HD model did you buy ?

I use the EDP dsdt with my additions so the ATA stuff already hear. (else KP at startup, I know).

I think the problem is not in HDD model, and not in slow CPU. The problem in Powermanagement when HDD became energy-saving slow mode. Don't know where it is.

Today, after some tuning it works more or less fine.

  10. .. and here is the tech. specs for the diffrent models..

    http://www.osxlatitu.../Documents.html

It is not a datasheet , it is datashit. wink.gif

Touch Pad - PS/2 compatible, Track Stick - PS/2 compatible

Nontheless, I made a new driver.

    VoodooPS2Controller.kext.zip

    Touchpad:

tapping works, controlled by Vanilla Trackpad.prefPane (10.6.6).

Side scrolling at right - vertical, and at bottom - horizontal.

    Trackstick: not working.

    Sleep/wake - don't know yet.

May be other models has another trackpad ID, so look into kernel.log with DEBUG version.

    VoodooPS2Trackpad.kext-DEBUG.zip

To install you HAVE TO DELETE all other PS2NUB, PS2Controller etc.

CLEAR CACHE, and reboot with -f (ignore cache)!

  11. Now I begin to work on PS2 Trackpad. What I see:

Feb 5 16:04:11 MacDell kernel[0]: ApplePS2Controller: Timed out on mouse input stream.
    Feb 5 16:04:11: --- last message repeated 1 time ---

    Feb  5 16:04:11 MacDell kernel[0]: [ApplePS2ALPSGlidePoint] E7: { 0x63, 0x03, 0xc8 } E6: { 0x00, 0x00, 0x64 }
    Feb 5 16:04:11 MacDell kernel[0]: [ApplePS2ALPSGlidePoint] ALPS Device? No

    It is not ALPS?! blink.gif

    0x63, 0x03, 0xc8 -- for ALPS it must be 0x02!

I need information from private drivers for Windows. Anybody?

  12. My HDD is toooo slow. It gives 100kb/s. So, for example, 10.6.5 update requires 4 hours, XCode 3.2.5 installed during 8 hours.

It is not possible to work!

Is there any hint to speedup HDD?

  13. Next step:

    Speedstep

As I choose MacBook1,1 I need to modify IOPlatformPlugin to enable native speedstep.

    MacBook1_1.plist.zip

To monitor what is happen I need FakeSMC 3.1.0 and its plugins IntelCPUMonitor and ACPIMonitor (it works with DSDT that I uploaded above).

    Now I see

    Screen shot 2011-02-04 at 19.34.01.png

The CPU speed varies from 800 to 1064MHz as it should be.

Voltage I see from 1.05 to 1.087V that is wrong. Should read datasheets for the CPU and chipsets.

The temperature reading is RIGHT! At the picture about you may see two independent sensor: one is embedded diod reading by MSR registers. (IntelCPUMonitor). This data must be subtructed from TJmax that is a usual source of mistakes. But not here.

Other sensor ( CPU Heatseak) is an independent sensor on the sink of CPU and may differ from CPU diod by 1-6 degree. It is measured by ACPIMonitor. I see they equal.

How to look FAN speed? I don't know yet. Investigations needed.

We seems to have LPC chip SMSC FDC37N769, but it doesn't contain FAN monitor.

  14. Hi,

On a clean installation i dont have that either.. is the dsdt a new, or the one from edp ?

There is a diff between two DSDT

    dsdt.diff.zip

    Comments:

    1. Rename some ACPI names to Apple's standard PBTN -> PWRB

    2. Simplify OSID method. But sure, original one is not reliable.

    3. Add _PRW method for some devices to resolve a sleep issue.

    4. Correct IRQ assignment for HPET and IPIC to work.

    5. Add ACPIMonitor

    6. Exclude non-supported SPK and ECP devices to not bother system.

    7. Add PCI slots cosmetics ( _SUN properties)

    8. Add properties for Videocard

    9. USB should also be corrected later.

  15. I think it will be good if I'll be show all my solutions in one place.
