Wouldn't the cable from the d620 with the hi res screen work on my d630?

I have 2 nvidia based d630's and had to use the dell a17 bios instead of the osx modded one.

I have a d620 with 1440x900 screen resolution.Can I swap my 1280x800 resolution screen with the higher res one?

What worked for me on my new d630 with 2.5ghz cpu with nvidia graphics was the "my hack" to make my usb lion install media,install lion,boot into lion using the usb stick .Then run my hack with the bootpack for lion, boot into lion then run edp 2.2.

I get occassional kps, usually caused by voodoohda

I have both models and they both work great as long as you follow the wiki.You will need to change the wifi card on the d630. If you have any problems we will do our best to help you out.

Popped a new hardrive in my d630 and did a new install of Lion. For some reason edp 2.1 causes all kinds of issues so I ended up using my hack along with the boot pack folder and everything works except I don't have the speedster gui. Is there a way to install speedster separately from edp?

Were you able to update your bios?If not you did not say whether you had nvidia or intel graphics and if you had high resolution or not.Go into bios and tell us which video card and resolution you have.

i install 10.6.0 first,then run combo update 10.6.8,before rebooting run edp 1.9.You should now be good to go.I use 10.6.0 because it's the one I bought,you could use pretty much any version.

i used an optional trackpad support package from an earlier myhack post install cd.It's 410kb, if you email me i'll send it to you.

hook up an an external monitor and hit fn plus f8 to switch display to external monitor when screen goes black.Also be sure to boot with verbose mode to see if there are any kernel panics.

Boot with your usb stick into Lion.Then rerun edp 2.1, install kexts and run chameleon installer.Then everything should work.

I used my hack and simeon's extra folder to install Lion successfully. everything works except for the battery indicator. Sleep works awesome !! I'm gonna install on my nvidia gpu d630 tonight,will let you know how it goes...

Istat menus 3 is now lion compatible and gives you the battery indicator. Here is the link http://bjango.com/mac/istatmenus/

Sweet !!!! Got my d630 with 2 ghz core 2 duo,2 gig ram,broad com wifi, and intel x3100 graphics at 1280 x 800 running perfectly with lion. I used my hack installer to make usb and added simeon's extra package. Sleep works,mouse,keyboard,sound, and wifi too. Only thing left is a battery indicator. Thanks to everyone I am a happy camper!!

You cannot buy Lion from apple store.I was there a couple of hours ago and was told either bring my laptop in to their store and download off the store's wifi (I am sure they would not appreciate me bringing in a hackintosh),or order a usb stick from apple online store. So looks like no Lion for a while....

the 820/830 are 15 inch latops,620/630 are 14 inch depends on what you need. I hear the 820/830 are really good but you should ask either Leon or Bronxteck as they have way more experience than I do.Sorry I wasn't more helpful.

I find the nvidia gpu d630 more finicky than the intel one.I tried updating the nvidia gpu d630 with the custom bios from the wiki and it would post after but nothing else,ended up reflashing the dell a17 bios to get everything working again. Maybe i should throw the core 2 duo from the d630 into the d620.... I also have weird sleep issues that come and go plus occasionally I will get random kp's that rebooting fixes. Definitely weird.

I have both nvidia and intel gpu based d630's and 1 intel gpu d620. I found the d620 easier to work with, but if you want to go lion you need a core 2 duo. With the d630 you will need to swap out the intel wireless card(I bought mine off ebay for 13 dollars).So I am about to install lion on my d630 intel gpu( gonna pick up a lion usb stick from apple today).

In regards to your kernel panic check your e/e folder and see if there are 2 fakesms kexts there,if so delete the one that has numbers in it, and reboot.

Boot in verbose mode with -v flag and let us know which kext is causing the issue. Will be the kext listed right after the kernel panic
