Yep looks like that might have been it. Removed that kext and so far each shutdown/reboot looks to take normal amount of time. THX again Herve´! -

One more question....every other time I shut down the OS take about 5 minutes to shut down (just shows a white screen with the mouse cursor present).....then the spinning 'beach ball' is shown and then it shut downs. Any thoughts? Should I start another thread? THX again! JD31 -

That did it! I was able to finally install Mountain Lion. It was whatever missing KEXT in the D830 NVIDIA bootpack. The GUI installer did complain (at the end of the hard drive installation) that it was unable to reboot I just rebooted using the USB install key and ran the latest EDP (easy as pie!) Thank you (everyone) for your support!! -

Hello Herve, THAT WORKED! It looks like newest bootpack from this site gets past the [ PCI Configuration Begin] screen and into the ML installer GUI! I'm now in the process of installing ML!!!! Excellent work! I'll post my end result once I'm done. THX again and take care. JD31 -

THX Herve! I'll try it in the AM tomorrow to see how it goes. So far nothing with all the suggestions above. BTW I was given a modified DSDT zip file....how would I add/prep the files contained in the ZIP file onto the USB key? -

Nope...same thing. Stuck at PCI Configuration Begin..... My USB key is a SanDisk Cruzer U3......after a while it goes into a pulsating mode (like it's asleep)....that's all that happens. I've also tried with 2 different USB keys and same outcome!
