  1. @ Bronxteck Thanks for replying. One question here. I'm using the methods mentioned here for D630 for booting/installing up D620 system and using the Extra/Chameleon pkg mentioned for D630. This is going to work even for D620, right? Is there any specific version of myHack I should use or the current/latest one should just work fine? Can someone who has used this for installing on D620 confirm? Thank you very much.
  2. Thanks for replying. I forgot to mention that my first try was with SL Retail 10.6 and when that also failed giving me the same "Install Failed" error message (same screenshot) I started trying the customized Image thinking that might solve the problem. But my badluck, both failed. No idea how longs it is going to take before I can run OSX on my D620 system. Just a note that I've tried installing the same SL 10.6 retail Image on VirtualBox and it is working fine. Someone please help. BTW, can someone confirm whether the SLD430USB.img.bz2 Image is working on not on Dell D620 with Intel Graphics. Thanks a ton. System: Intel GMA945, latitude d620, 2GB DDR2 RAM, 256MB Integrated Graphics.
  3. Can someone help me fix the problem and help me install SL 10.6 Retail on Dell d620. Please go through my above post and help me out. Many thanks.
  4. hello All. I'm trying the steps given in this post for Installing Lion on D620. I followed each and every step as given and when I try to boot from the USB it gives me 2 options to select from but when selecting "Mac OSX Base System" it says "can't find mach_kernel" and restarts. Please help me fix this problem. Thank you very much.
  5. I've been using this same method and trying to install SL 10.6 retail using the zipped image mentioned in the very first page (i.e. SLD430USB.img.bz2)and I'm trying on a GUID partition external hard drive's 1st HFS+ partition. I've tried many times and every time it fails with the same message "Install Failed, the installer could not copy the necessary support files" (screenshot: http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/7337/20120211140106.jpg). Please someone help me fix this problem, I've been struggling with this for more than 2/3 weeks. System: Intel GMA945, latitude d620, 2GB DDR2 RAM, 256MB Integrated Graphics. Thanks for your time.
  6. Hello All. I'm facing the same problem on my Dell latitude D620 GMA950(Centrino Duo, 2GB DDR2 RAM, Intel Integrated Graphics 256MB, 120GB HDD). It fails every time with the same message: "Install Failed, the installer could not copy the necessary support files". The only basic difference is that, I'm trying to install Retail SL 10.6 on an External Hard Drive which has GUID partition table. I've tried more than 10 times, by restoring the SL DMG to USB through the Disk Utility and every time it fails after copying 2 files(iChat.pkg and index.product) which goes for around 5 minutes and it fails. For all these attempts I'd used the D620SLV01 bootable CD. I also tried using the customized bootable USB image as mentioned @http://www.osxlatitude.com/creating-a-usb-pen-with-osx-installation/ but that also failed with the same error message. No idea whats going wrong. Would highly appreciate if someone can help me fix this problem. I've been struggling on this for more than 2/3 weeks. Thanks a ton. This is the screenshot of the "Install Failed" message: http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/7337/20120211140106.jpg
