What if I, or someone else, wants to use a different boot loader such as Clover (which I would like to learn about too)? Modding the DSDT is, apparently, the best way to go to avoid having to redo edits to kexts, etc. Once done, it's done forever.

I have a fully working installation of Mavericks in an Optiplex 780, including sleep and wake. I just installed an XFX HD 5450 1GB video/graphics card ( 0X68F91002 ) and got it fully working with acceleration by modding two kext files but I want to edit the DSDT to enable it without hacked kexts so OS updates won't affect it. I've looked around the net, including OSX86 ( http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/293049-guide-mavericks-amd-radeon-hd5450/ ) and elsewhere, and found instructions but none appear to relate well to the DSDT for the Optiplex 780, or the 760 which is very similar, for me to understand well enough to do it with any confidence that what I do will work. Usually means that there's something plugged into usb that isn't recognized. If you want your 760 to run Mavericks, take out the video card and get it working then do whatever needs to be done to set it up to use your video card such as modifying and installing appropriate kexts then reboot to make sure that it will then reinstall your video card and see if it works. If it doesn't, there may be some other alterations necessary or your video card just won't work with Mavericks (yet???). It is important to get it working first without any add-on hardware.

Yes, I used the VoodooHDA 2.6.2 from that guide. I installed Mavericks a bit differently but used the other information and files from there. Some of the inputs and outputs work but not the internal speaker. I've been looking all over the internet and there's information about hacking AppleHDA and VoodooHDA for ALC but not for AD audio. Do you know of any?

I successfully installed Mavericks on an Optiplex 780 and 960 (I posted the method for the 960 in the OSX86 Wicki). I am trying to get audio working with the internal speaker but I haven't had any success with finding a ready-made solution such as VoodooHDA of which I've tried various versions. I am interested in hacking AppleHDA but don't know the faintest about how to do it. The Optiplex 780 and 960 are virtually identical in hardware, they both use the AD1984a chip. I've found some guides to hacking AppleHDA but, apparently, they are out-of-date due to changes with AppleHDA in Mavericks. Does anyone have a hacked AppleHDA or VoodooHDA that works with Mavericks and the AD1984a so that the internal speaker works. If not, can someone guide me through how to hack AppleHDa to do it? I've got 10.8.4 almost fully working on an OptiPlex 960T (mini tower) except for wake from sleep. Does anyone have it working on an OptiPlex 760 or 960 and/or will help me by telling me your method and/or edit the OptiPlex 960 DSDT to get it working?

Great! I did the same but I haven't been able to get wakeup from sleep working, does yours work? If it does, would you mind telling me what settings you used to install iFail ML2. I also updated to 10.8.4 and everything except wakeup from sleep works.
