Can anyone help get the drive back please?
-
Sorry, missed this. The only difference was formatting the drive in the system MBR.

Seems like everything major is ok but the DVD/CD drive is not seen at all. I did the DVD playback fix (which I doubted would solve it) but still no optical drive is seen.

Finally have it up & running. Thanks to the forum & especially Jake. Thanks!

It is up & running with WIFI. the 2100 had a 1505 which just worked. It was a hassle getting the centrino to install in the 2100 but it is also working. What do I use for control on the Dell & how to I get into restore so I can transfer my data from my backup? Thanks for all the help, the machine is running great already!

I am reinstalling because I couldn't get the trackpad back. Trying Mavericks. I use the renamed file during install correct? The 1390 is longer than the Centrino. I have another card from a broken already apart HP netbook and I have a Latitude 2100 I can take apart if the one from the HP fails. I

It had windows and I was trying to install without wiping but have since wiped. It is installed with invalid boot partition and worked minus wifi . I installed Chameleon but still have the boot error. It had touchpad and I ran EDP trying to get wifi and lost touchpad. It's progress but I'll be darned if this is not frustrating.

I let it sit again and came back to just the curser. It moves spastically only with the nub thing.
-
I found use -v -x which got me to the choose country dialog but nothing but tab works and when I tab off United States it clears & enter does not work.
-
Install completed after asking questions I did my best to answer (no to one it suggested was the right answer if you have Nvdia and no to one that said choose that if you don't have ECC memory). It boots to invalid partition and then the apple with wheel and sits there I let it sit for more than 10 minutes 2x then tried the choices in boot menu. It goes back to the apple in one & multiple errors in the other. It is currently sitting on the apple screen.

I finally got it going. I had to use MBR on the boot usb disk. Thanks!

Thnaks. I tried repeatedly last night on multiple drives including a 16gb SD card taken from my camera (using an adapter) and all I get now is this Boot0 error. Just tried your new guide same error. Trying again as I type, just said no to MBR going back to 10.8 after several 10.9 attempts.. Thanks

Trying to get my system working I have had no luck. https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/5637-trying-to-follow-jake-on-6430/ Posted a plea for help there & Jake tried but I have gone backwards. Now I can't get it to boot from the USB drive (5 different ones now) I have tried everything in jakes thread, this one & gleaned from all over the net I tried Mavericks to no avail. Below is a screenshot of my system config: Any help is greatly appreciated

Tried every iteration of that and your threads, now it won't boot into the USB. I tried it 10x+ on three different devices 8-16 gb.
-
Yes sir I did that. Then I wiped and started over 2x the second I tried mbr. Thanks

Sorry, I didn't know I could enter text there. That is what I got so I tried adding the other extra which got me this:

I added the extras and I disabled Optimus. Now I get this: It just sits here:

Thanks I really appreciate it!

Hello, thanks for the great forum! I followed Jake's great write up as far as I could and am getting errors. My problem I assume is due to the inability to find the extra referenced in step 2. After creating your USB installer, run myHack again Select Install Extra and point to the Extra folder attached (extract it first) Boot up system with USB installer disk with the -v switch (use USB 2.0 port on the left, USB 3.0 ports don't always work) Format the HDD per instruction from myHack Select "Use my Own" when prompt and point to the Extra folder in the root of the USB installer drive Delete the 3 files when prompt You'll get an Install Failed error towards the end, that's fine, restart the computer. Remove the USB installer drive Complete the customization ( if you get Invalid Partition Table during boot - just hit enter - more info below to remove the error) Install 10.8.4 Combo update When I just run the installer I get this: The installer hangs there. When I use -v flag, I get this: Here is my system info: Thanks!
