  1. i'm running into another problem, I'm trying to replace the D430USB Pen's extra folder with the D630 extra folder, but i can't find it... the drive only has 3 things install Mac OS X application instructions (folder) optional Insall (folder). very weird.
  2. So this afternoon i saw an ad for a D620 without RAM and HDD and AC addapter for 40 bucks... I was like what the heck, let's grab it since I have 2GB of Ram laying around and an 80GB HDD... and my AC adapter for the D630. Total damage 40 bucks + 3 bucks for HDD caddy off ebay. I got it running SL just 2 hours ago... I'm gonna use that and attempt to get my D630 run SL, gonna throw win 7 back into the D620. Honestly it was a good deal for me, but I don't think it's good for anyone else. Ac adapter = 15-20 bucks HDD = 30 bucks caddy = 3 2 GB of ram = 15. at the minimum you have to throw in 60 bucks to make it work... so total would be like 100, the unit have some slight damage on the screen (1 small swatch about .5" at the corner where it's not visible unless the color is really light).. so it's not perfect. but for 40 bucks I got it up and running, it's all good I'll try to write a more extensive guide as a supliment to the wiki, i had so much trouble doing it .
  3. I used the D430USB file on the old guide and it worked... on my D620 that is. I only got this notebook for about 5 hours so I haven't really got the chance to test it much, but so far I've been able to get it to load SL pretty good, no wifi or any accessories yet though (hell I don't even know what wifi I have, didn't even bother to check, i just disable it in the bios). At any rate, give that a shot, you don't need a mac to load the D430USB file on a USB, i did it in win 7 lol.
  4. running ubuntu and still can't write to the USB drive because it's mac journalized... have to get into a mac to replace the folder... We'll keep at this till monday lol.
  5. ok, i'll try that, right now i just have a problem reading the USB since I made it using a window computer, I can't really view the content, I'm trying to install ubuntu right now to see if I can read that USB drive.
  6. i have the GMA crestline low resolution model.
  7. i'll try that lol, but i can't read the USB drive with my window computer ATM. not sure if I can get in and access the files.
  8. d430 files always give a black screen after it's loading the stuff in... I'll have to go back on monday and try the myhack method again.
  9. I was able to get the USB pen using the D430 files, but it doesn't seem to work... getting a black screen.
  10. that might be it, but I did install the D630 intel boot pack from the wiki... I already formated the USB drive, so I no longer have it till i get back to my work place on monday (they have macs there I can use). In the mean time I'm trying to create another USB pen using the window method described in the wiki but so far no luck, I'm getting stuck at the dd part, it just won't let me write to the USB pen drive (error 5 access denied). So now i'm trying to download ubuntu and trying to create a usb pen that way...
  11. i'm getting own pretty bad here, I tried to boot with verbose flag and got to a grey screen with the mouse pointer, but it's jam there, nothing else come up, can't even move the pointer... I'm at my end here, tried many times and nothing seems to work right now I have a spinning wheel at the top left corner of the screen... it's been spinning for 5 min ready . should I wait?
  12. After contemplating between the D620 and the D630, I've decided to go for the D630... primary because it's a newer model and the price is relatively the same (I got one off ebay for 135 shipped with the power core and batteries and it even comes with a small 80GB HDD).. at any rate, the spec is this T2750 Intel Pro/Wireless 3945ABG 2GB of ram (swaping out for 4gb, already ordered.... I wasn't gonna, but I accidently bought too much). Intel Video My plan is this. I'm going mac OS on the primary HDD (probably the 80GB that comes with it. and I'm stuffing window 7 on the modular bay (need to buy the modular HDD bay for about 15 bucks).... does that sounds ok? would I run into any big problem installing mac OS with the spec listed?
  13. I'm gonna pick one of these things up and gonna attempt to dual boot (not really a mac person). Reason i'm getting it is because my work place they all use mac, and I need to get familiar with the OS without spending 1500+ USD haha. And various other personal reason, definitely not gonna do anything intensive (I have other computers for that stuff). the D620 as far as I understand would work perfectly out of the box, but the D630 is better when it comes to screen brightness. what is the hardware spec that would make it work perfectly (for the D630 since I saw too many thread about some of the stuff not working). thanks. PS: was considering the D420/D430 but 1.8" hdd is troubling, i'm planing to upgrade to SSD sooner or later.
