@tweakbsd: sounds interesting. I had looked at Intel's IDA in C2D datasheets in the past and it indicated that only 1 core could be boosted whilst the other was idle. I believe that the same principle has been retained over to the i core generation, although I'm not 100% certain of it. To me, your T8400 forced@IDA frequency runs on single core only.

I would expect you to copy the kext to /Extra/Extensions or /System/Library/Extensions, then rebuild permissions+cache with myFix (full) before reboot. You'll probably have to try with boot options GraphicEnabler=Yes/No and then adjust your boot settings permanently in Chameleon boot plist once/if it works. Try the various combinations and see if it works: - kext in /E/E + GE=Yes - kext in /E/E + GE=No - kext in /S/L/E + GE=Yes - kext in /S/L/E + GE=No Read up the description, ReadMe file and comments (I know, 33pages!) as they probably contain useful info and tips. Ok, so it's definitely not a GMA X3100 then, that reported info in Mountain Lion is incorrect. GM45 chipset includes the GMA 4500MHD graphics controller. Re: hibernate, you can also check your hibernate mode and set it to 0 if you want (-> it will not save image to HDD any more). For that, use the EDP fix (unless you prefer Unix command line).

When you run EDP kext installation, make sure to select the correct model (LoRes vs HiRes) as DSDT table differs and will be overwritten. Well, I'd suggest to test this in Windows. Theoretically, X7xxx or X9xxx Extreme C2D CPUs could be supported by the D630, being FSB800 processors. As long as the BIOS does not reject them, there's no technical reason they would not work... They might just run hot (44W vs 35W on the "regular" C2D). I think I remember reading on an overclocking forum that someone did indeed run an X9000 in a D630 and pushed it up to 3.7GHz by raising FSB to 1066MHz through PLL-mod! Impressive if it worked and was sustainable! I, myself, am a bit unconvinced re: heat and cooling...

You do not have to first install SL to then install Lion. If you have the Lion ESD dmg image, as long as it is retail version, go straight with Lion.

Leave BIOS settings as they are, partition your HDD as GUID (you will just reformat your spare partition NTFS for Win7 for example), use your Lion image (though you lost with that last point, unless you lean installing Lion rather than SL...)

A little UP on this old thread, following work I've done on the Vostro200 to try and get my ATI X1300 graphics card fully working. Model is low-profile ATI Radeon Pro X1300/X1550 256MB (RV516 chip) with PCI vendor id 0x1002 and device id 0x7183. I first used Syon's reported method of using Natit kext in /E/E to get full res (but no acceleration) and, after extensive research, found a documented way to do Chameleon injection. It's reported here: http://www.beejblog.com/2010/03/ati-x1300-pro-on-mac-os-x-snow-leopard.html . Credits to Beej (Brent Anderson) and Azimutz. I've reached full QE/CI under SL 10.6.8 through the above method, adapted to myHack installations: 1a) downloaded Chameleon GraphicsEnabler branch from Azimutz (r1515 dated 2011 at time of writing) since it includes support for my ATI X1300 card (PCI dev id 0x7183). Obviously, one needs to check which models are supported beforehand... 1b) copied Azimutz's 'ATiGraphicsEnabler.Dylib' to /Extra/modules 1c) copied Azimutz's 'boot' to root of SL partition (use appropriate boot file according to your partition/OS arrangements) 2a) made copies of /S/L/E ATI1300Controller.kext + ATIX1000.kext to /E/E and patched to include my dev id 0x7183: 2b) replaced 0x7187 by 0x7183 in the Info plist of both kexts 2c) Using 0xED tool, binary patched MacOS/ATIRadeonX1000 module of ATIRadeonX1000 kext, replacing 81 FA 87 71 by 81 FA 83 71 at offsets 2E26F and BA2A27 3a) downloaded EVOenabler kext, version patched for ATI X1000 cards 3b) edited its plist to replace string "Alopias" by "Sphyrna" (=model with single DVI dual-link) and string "Radeon 1800XL" by "Radeon X1300" 3c) copied kext to /E/E 4) ran myFix (full) and rebooted. Voilà ! full QE/CI under Snow Leopard. Display sleep is also supported afterwards. Oh, one more thing: thanks to Chameleon ATI injection + 32/64bit ATI kexts, 64bit kernel mode is supported ! NB: not tested dual display setup; that may require additional EDID info tuning in EVOenabler kext.

I don't know, but do a search on the forum. There are threads about it. I would have sticked to Nawcom's method. If you have an SL image on USB, I would have applied ModUSB to that, copied the D630 nVidia DSDT from the bootpack to /Extra on the USB media and then boot off that USB key to proceed with installation. That does work. On 1st reboot, boot off the USB key, press ENTER and then select the newly installed SL partition. It's never failed for me with retail SL 10.6.3.

Run the package and install on your OS X partition/HDD (it's downloaded to "/download" folder). Then, I'd advise you to download a tool called Chameleon Wizard and copy it to Applications folder. Run it and update to latest Chameleon version through Dropbox in Installation tab.

To me, either your installer is duff (it happens when created under with VMWare) or your ML image is duff. You should have ZERO issue installing ML on a D630 nVidia 135m. Do you have a legit' retail ML copy or was that a torrent download?

There's a also the eventual test with an external screen... In my early (pre-myHack, pre-EDP) days of trying to install SL on my D630 X3100 HiRes, I was not using bootpack or DSDT and systematically got a black screen on boot completion. However, I could bypass that issue by booting on an external LCD (pressing Fn-F8 at startup) and, right at the point of launching the Mac OS X desktop, display would automatically revert to built-in LCD. Very awkward, but it would get me where I wanted to be! This was only fixed by using the correct HiRes DSDT.
