Which Cham version did you try to re-install on that D620 HDD?
-
A DSDT table is indeed specific to each machine/model, since it contains information about the hardware. Therefore, no such thing as a "standard" DSDT table. It's not related to the OS X version. Look it up on the net.

@Dantes: for the Nawcom's ModCD/ModUSB method: 1) download ModCD or ModUSB off Nawcom's blog: ModCD -> http://nawcom.com/osx86/ModCD/ ModUSB -> http://nawcom.com/osx86/ModUSB 2a) ModCD is a small image that you burn on a CD/DVD that you can then boot to install Snow Leopard off a retail DVD or a USB key that contains the restored image of the retail SL media (unless that key is obtainable off Apple, you need access to a Mac to create it!). 2b) ModUSB is a Mac package (so you need a Mac) that you install on a USB key that contains the restored image of retail SL, so that you can boot off that key directly, without the need of the ModCD. 3) proceed with installation (based on legacy kernel) as usual, having hopefully copied the bootpack's DSDT table to /Extra on the USB key. However, if you have access to a friend's Mac, I can only encourage you to proceed with the myHack method directly. It's a much better way, a direct one too!

Instead of using Lion.app, try and use the 'InstallESD.dmg' image found inside Lion.app. Afterwards, re-run myHack and select 'Create Extra' to copy the boot pack to your USB installer. When asked for the bootpack, select your own, not the generic one and point to your downloaded bootpack. Go into the BIOS to check your screen resolution, it's indicated in one of the 1st info pages. It's important to choose the right bootpack or you could get black screen issues. Then reboot off USB installer to proceed with Lion installation and add option 'USBBusFix=No' before or after your '-v' flag. Which version are you loading by the way?
-
Of course! Lion and above require a C2D to work, so, in your case, any FSB800 CPU supported by the D630 will do. You'll see many D630s running OS X on a T7500 but also on better CPUs like the T9300.

OSX on Acer Aspire 5930 possible? - Intel CPU, nVidia Graphics
Hervé replied to IMC042's topic in The Archive
Ha, yeah, you should use a kext like ANV-Slice under ML to avoid Keyboard/Trackpad issues. PS: "Curk Cidy"... Not a Norrie, eh? -
It's damn annoying that, isn't it? 'made me abandon it all.
-
My mistake, the zipped file is too large for the forum... There's no need to replace those kexts to proceed with installation. To get to your 'InstallESD.dmg' image, you need to right click on your ML installer package and select 'Display package contents'. Then open 'Contents' folder and move to 'Shared Support'. That's were you'll find the correct image to use. Copy that image to your desktop for example and, when myHack 10.8 installer asks for the location of the installation source, point to the 'InstallESD' image on the Desktop so that it can be mounted.

A few people recently called for help, not managing to install ML and getting the same sort or error message. They were using ML copies of unknown origin, which were probably all corrupt. After buying and downloading a legit' copy of ML off Apple Store, their installation succeeded. It's just a hint, I don't know if that's applicable to you... http://forum.osxlati...4114#entry14114

Just in case, could anyone try again with the attached copy of the ML bootpack for the D830 nVidia?
-
I've got that D830 back right now. It has: Intel T7250 2.0GHz Core2Duo CPU 2Go DDR2-667 RAM 120Go SATA HDD DVD +/-RW in Modular Bay nVidia Quadro NVS 135M (128Mo) video controller (Video BIOS v060.086.068.000.017.000) WXGA (1280x800) LCD Sigmatel 9205 Audio Conexant HDA D330 MC modem (not that this matters...) Dell DW1490 Wireless card Dell 360 Bluetooth adapter BIOS A16 The BIOS settings are configured as per my related post in D8xx section. HDD is GUID dual-partitioned: 1st partition is ML (Mac OS X extended (journaled) formatted), 2nd one is Win7 (NTFS formatted). I can boot my ML USB installer (=myHack v3.1.2 10.8 installer with legit' retail Mac OS X 10.8 + myHack Create Extra with OSXL D830 nVidia bootpack) without problem and proceed with installation. The only boot option I use is 'USBBusFix=No', although it's not mandatory. Are you guys 100% certain of your ML copy or are these just downloads??? That D830 was finalised with EDP v4 r29. Chameleon bootloader (re-installed from EDP) was updated to v2.2 r2110 and Chameleon boot plist settings are exactly as shown above. SMBios was set to MacBook Pro 3,1. It's not running on the best FSB800 C2D CPU, but it runs ML 10.8.2 just perfectly. Boots in 60s, shuts down in 20s flawlessly.

Not owning one, I don't know how the D520 is built but I can tell you that on the D620/D630 and D820/D830, you most usually have to completely open up the laptop and remove the casing top part to access to the fan & heatsink and properly remove the clogged dust. I did this on my D620 when it started to heat up a few months ago. I had previously put a hoover hose to the undertray and lifted the keyboard to blow compressed air but that did not really help. Once I fully opened it up, I found a 3-4mm layer of dust tightly built in the small gap between the fan casing and the heasink radiator grill. There was a narrow piece of sticky tape on top of that. Nothing made that clogged dust go away but my own fingers...

There are no files to replace at all to begin installation, not even the IO80211Family kext that you mentionned earlier (that can be done post-installation if you have a DW1395 Wifi card). I've installed ML on a D830 nVidia 135m just a couple of weeks ago and had no issue whatsoever. I was also using the very 1st release of ML 10.8 (a legit' copy, source unknown = you're on your own!). Once EDP is installed, you can update to 10.8.2. Just make sure to create your myHack 10.8 USB installer properly, mounting the 'install ESD' image located inside the ML package and add the D830 nVidia bootpack afterwards. That's it, no need for a full fix at that stage. If you get that done, ML installation will go through without hiccups. Boot your installer with option 'USBBusFix=No' to avoid lengthy/slow boot off installer media.
-
1) Install SL with myHack USB installer (retail SL 10.6.3 for instance) 2) download EDP, install it and run kexts installation *** 2.5) you may want to reboot at that stage to verify your SL installation *** 3) install 10.6.8 combo update but do not reboot on completion 4) re-run EDP kexts installation 5) reboot in SL 10.6.8

If you haven't got a legit' copy of Mountain Lion, who knows what you got? Read this, it says it all! http://forum.osxlati..._300#entry14063 Buy it, it's only 18€... Nothing wrong with your 2.2GHz T7500. That'll run ML all right. Keyboard problem at Lion installation is known issue, boot with USBBusFix=No to avoid that.
-
I couldn't really tell the difference between Lion and ML on my D630 nVidia, but I'd say it did not appear slower under ML. Now I have a SSD drive in that laptop and it runs much faster.

Boot flags begin with a '-'. Eg: -x -v -f. Boot options do not. Eg: USBBusFix=[Yes/No] cpus=1 arch=[i386/x86_64] For instance, type (literally): -x -f -v USBBusFix=No npci=0x2000 You can type '?' after pressing [ENTER] at bootloader delay bar to get a list of flags and options (it's not necessarily the complete list). Follow the casing.

OSX on Acer Aspire 5930 possible? - Intel CPU, nVidia Graphics
Hervé replied to IMC042's topic in The Archive
That explains, I thought you were running ML... -
Yep, you're spot on with your 2nd edit: boot off Nawcom's ModCD and install SL off retail DVD = temp platform to create myHack installer. Ok, it's not the shortest way, but it's one that does not require access to an existing Mac or Hack...

OSX on Acer Aspire 5930 possible? - Intel CPU, nVidia Graphics
Hervé replied to IMC042's topic in The Archive
Is it really reporting a Quadro NVS 110M? Or is it a NVS 135M or 140M? It's just that the 110M did not appear to be supported under ML and the D620, fitted with that specific nVidia GPU, was therefore limited to running Lion at best. So, it'd be kind of interesting it your Acer was indeed reporting running the NVS 110M... -
Nope, never tried/used. I was able/lucky to start off with NawCom BootCD and SL retail DVD and never been without a Hackintosh since; so never had any problem to create a myHack USB installer...

Basically, you're asking if can OS X be installed straight away on a PC (it's a recurring question...). distros will somehow support this, but distros are bad: it's piracy, it's not often clean, you'll have no support for this here. In other words, you're on your own with distros... Nawcom BootCD basically offers a bootable CD to install Snow Leopard off a retail DVD or USB key, running legacy kernel. I started with that during my very early days of Hackintoshing when SL was the current version of OS X... I can be used as a temp platform from which to create a myHack USB installer. other ways that you'll find elsewhere and for which Google is your friend. For OSXL EDP-based procedure, you need a legitimate copy of OS X and access to an existing Mac or Hackintosh to start with...
-
How did you create your myHack USB installer? Did you mount the 'install ESD' image/package from within the ML image?

GM965 is a chipset. It includes Graphics Media Accelerator X3100. What you call GM965 graphics drivers are X3100 drivers. Information about your individual H/W is available in the BIOS system info pages and you'd find that EDP kext installation specifies the audio chip model (and kext) for the D630. If your system KPs, it's not because of EDP-provided kexts, as long as you selected the right model...

The D630 is a better machine with improved specifications (FSB speed and graphics for example). Read up the different web site pages for an overview of each model capabilities and the EDP-based installation procedure. In a nutshell: . D620 (GMA 950 & nVidia) -> Snow Leopard/Lion . D630 (GMA X3100) -> Snow Leopard/Lion . D630 (nVidia) -> Snow Leopard/Lion/Mountain Lion
