  1. Just returning back to my e6400 after leaving it be once Clover lost functionality about a month ago. Now that Clover is fixed, I reinstalled OS X 10.11 DP 1 and updated all the way to the El Capitan DP 8 OS X 10.11 (15A279b) that was just released yesterday. I am using the same files/kexts as before save one additional change not mentioned previously in my config.plist. Upon installing one DP update (I believe it was DP 3), I lost total USB functionality and the fix was to revert to a MacBookPro3,1 SMBIOS configuration. I googled it and found the appropriate settings. I am not certain that change is necessary any longer but quite frankly I could care less what model my Latitude e6400 reports itself as. It's now back to full operational status and since DP 8 is likely the last preview before the final release, it now appears likely that this old laptop will again be able to stay current OS X system wise.
  2. Just updated to OS X 10.11 El Capitan Beta 2 via software update. All went fine EXCEPT Wern's patched AppleHDA.kext that had previously worked in the first El Capitan release works no longer. Upon restart, I immediately thought that the Beta 2 update replaced the patched kext however when checking the Extension folder the patched version noted by the purple dot to the right was still present. I then returned both the VoodooHDA.kext v2.7.3 also patched for the IDT 92HD71B7 Audio codec as well as the latest AppleHDADisabler.kext to the "Other" kext folder in Clover, rebooted and Audio returned to function once again.
  3. I can assure anyone attempting this install that there are no hardware issues with the Latitude E6400 and the OS X El Capitan 10.11 Beta release. As I mentioned on the previous page, editing the DSDT.aml file as noted resolved any issue I was experiencing both with booting the install and USB system functionality. While using the same kexts I use to boot OS X 10.10.3, Bluetooth, USB, Firewire, Keyboard & Trackpad, as well as Apple HDA system audio all function exactly as they should in El Capitan as they do in Yosemite. The only other suggestion I can offer is to check if your using the boot arg: rootless=0 among the arguments within your Clover config.plist file. PS. I have additionally uploaded a screen shot displaying the contents of my OS X 10.11 El Capitan Beta Install partition as well as my System profile displaying every mounted partition. Although my Install is contained and boots from a hard drive installed in an external USB enclosure, it should not matter as it operates the same as a thumb drive.
  4. This is the working solution. The panic/circle with a line in the middle was occurring due to the fact that the USB Installer was losing its connection as the E6400 has no working USB ports in OS X 10.11 El Capitan without making this edit in your dsdt.aml. Once the edit is made, the Installer will boot and the E6400 works just as well in El Capitan as it does in Yosemite. PS. Renaming the Kext folder is unnecessary and using Clover v2.3 r3215 is sufficient also.
  5. Decided to ditch creating the installer and instead installed OS X El Capitan Beta 1 on a real mac. Installed Clover via the exact same method (in the "ESP") in the EFI partition using all same kexts as Yosemite (EXCEPT upgrading the FakeSMC.kext to the very latest). Used the same config.plist as well and doing it this way presented no issues whatsoever.
  6. Creating an OS X 10.11 El Capitan Beta 1 USB Install is verbatim identical to Yosemite save the one extra step: copying over the "Payloads" folder along with the invisible BaseSystem.dmg & BaseSystem.chunklist files...thats it. Not very encouraged with the E6400 and OS X 10.11 as I mentioned on my Yosemite guides, I figured out Yosemite right from the get go and it was relatively straight forward. This is not making much sense as I have gotten Clover v r3215 to boot this release on my Mac Pro 2,1 which also requires a legacy boot. I would say it is the Nvidia Quatro NVS 160M though any graphic card capable of running Yosemite is also supposed to be compatible with El Capitan.
