  1. Got it to work. I added arguments to plist as per clover general discussion on insanelymac. Rebooted and now the wifi kexts were loaded. Whew. Thanks, Cheers, Howard
  2. I am installing PB 1 with clover 3253. I noticed that on the sites you referred me to some people are adding arguments to the plist in clover to changed unsigned kexts to a signed state. Do you think this could work? Also you mentioned SIP. Being a novice in the hackintosh world, could you give me an explanation of what that is? In the meantime I will keep on looking for a solution. Much appreciated. Cheers, Howard
  3. As you know I upgraded my Yosemite to el Capitan via direct upgrade. After install, everything worked including TP Link (Realtek)wireless WIFI. The weird thing was when the Green lan utility started up to connect, it's icon did not appear on the dock. Instead it used the maps icon to visually indicate it was connecting(bounces up and down). Later I had issues after updating some software and I lost the wireless Ethernet connection. I have been unable to reestablish this. So I upgraded my Yosemite backup with Ethernet done with CC cloner to el Capitan in the hopes of regaining Ethernet connectivity. When I try to connect the Green Lan app has chosen the finder as its dock icon to show connectivity. This did not work. I have fiddled with this since, uninstalling and reinstalling the Realtek kexts and making sure they are in the 10.11 folder in Clover. I have reinstalled both the green lan and WLAN apps at different times tried pinning them directly on the dock nothing works. The USB wifi shows up in network as disconnected but I seem to remember that's normal until the utility tries to connect. I am using the 8188CUS kexts as always. This is a weird one I know. Any suggestions? I am using a base Optiplex 760 as my hackintosh. Cheers, Howard
  4. The proof they say is in the pudding Cheers, Howard
  5. The beauty is that you don't need a USB stick to upgrade to El Capitan. Make sure the usual kexts are in the 10.11 folder in clover. Before I tried I removed my Nvidia video card and used the vga port on the Optiplex board for the install. I do this because the install goes quicker and it is easy after install to put the card back in and let the OS picks it up. I did this when I installed Yosemite. I also use a usb keyboard and mouse for the install. Again runs quicker with less surprises. Just start the public beta Dmg in applications, let it run the installation and it will reboot. The install will then finish and reboot again. Here I had the minour issue outlined above which Jake helped me fix. After getting in apps run a little weird but there is a new patch at the app store that targets 32 bit apps running slow after el Capitan install. If you install this and reboot alls well and things run pretty smoothly. I have everything working but sound which I will fix soon. Cheers, Howard
  6. Jake...you are the man. I can now boot directly into El Capitan on my Optiplex. Thank you so much. For the rest of you, backup and go for the direct upgrade. Just make sure you have the latest Clover if you are using it. Cheers, Howard
  7. Hey Jake, I did that and got a bit further but got stuck again. See new screenshot.
  8. Hey everyone, I know this is not a my hack question but since we are in limbo with it I have another interesting problem to keep our minds occupied till the update arrive. I have a a Dell Optiplex 760 running Yosemite perfectly under clover. You may remember me commenting a few months ago that I had switched to Clover to upgrade the OS. I heard rumblings that you could sign up for the El Capitan public beta program which I did. I downloaded the Dmg to apps and then tried a crazy thing. I upgraded directly like I had a real Mac. After a lot of fiddling with kexts, I actually made it work. I kept all my settings and files as you would with any upgrade on native hardware. There is only one problem. I can only boot via Clover into El Capitan in safe mode. Any other mode gives me a kernel panic. I have attached a screen shot of what happens. Can anyone help. Cheers, Howard
  9. SOLVED!! I found this link and followed the instructions and it worked like a charm http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/295534-mac-app-store-access-with-nullethernetkext/ Hey, As noted before I have everything working in Yosemite on my Optiplex 760. The only thing left is this error trying to log into the App Store. I have done some research on this and have tried various scenarios to try and fix to no avail. First my TP-link wireless adapter shows up as en0 as it should to be able to log in ok. I have tried the following to fix add EthernetBuiltIn as Yes to my com.apple.boot.plist 1. Go to HDD MAC 2. Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration 3. Delete all in folder SystemConfiguration 4. Go to System Preferences > Network 5. Delete all card network ( in list ) 6. Reboot > sign in appstore neither worked. I have tried to remove the wireless adapter and go with the built in ethernet connector on the 760 but after enabling the connection in the Bios clover will not boot at all. I have enabled built in Ethernet via clover configurator and made sure the proper kext is installed. So I am at an impasse. Any suggestions to try would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Howard
  10. After importing all my files etc via migration assistant from Maverick and rebooting the adapter connected automatically. It uses the same utility as Mavericks did so it is a bit of a mystery as to why it connected under Yosemite. I did nothing extra as I said other than import my settings from the Mavericks hard drive. The original install under Lion took quite some effort of uninstalling and reinstalling the 802 adapter in Network system preferences and reinstalling the driver till it finally just worked. I started off with RTL8188CUS from the Realtek site using version 2.0.1 for Mac until it worked. How exactly not completely sure. But my experience has shown that this happens often when dealing with hackintoshes. Trial and error. Cheers, Howard
  11. Well good news. With more fiddling I have managed to get the TP-Link to work 100%. For the record it is a TL-WN725N and works with automatic connection after booting to desktop. I also used migration assistant to move all personal settings over from Maverick which is on a separate hard drive. So I have everything I had before now under Yosemite and working well. Cheers, Howard PS I cancelled the Netgear adapter order
  12. Thanks Jake. I have ordered the NetGear WNA3100M as I don't have a Mini PCI slot on the 760. Will let you know if it works. Cheers, Howard
  13. Hey folks, While waiting for My Hack 4 to arrive I have managed to install Yosemite via Clover on my Optiplex 760. Everything is working quite well except for Wifi. I have a TP link USB adapter that worked in all previous iterations of Mac OS on this PC. On Yosemite I can't see to get it installed in Network under system preferences. I have installed the Green Lan utility and drivers that worked previously and try to connect via the utility. It seems to connect ok but then the status keeps changing from connected to disconnected and back again. Internet is unusable. I have a feeling that this adapter will not work. If so can anyone recommend another USB adapter to take its place? Cheers, Howard
  14. I had the exact same issue. I was using my hack USB installer to restore via Time Machine to an earlier backup version from a separate internal hard drive. I found out that the problem was I had forgotten to format the drive under GUID patition scheme. It was MBR. Time Machine backed up fine to the drive but because the drive format was different I guess TM figured it was for a different Mac. After reinstalling the OS, I reformatted the drive to GUID backed up and retried TM and it worked fine. Cheers, Howard
