Anyone have the issue of occasional and random keyboard + mouse lockups? (they no longer respond, everything else works still) I still get it every so often and it's so frustrating as I have to hook up a USB mouse and force restart. I've posted this in other e6400 threads, but in case someone knows of a solution. It has been in all versions of os x for this laptop for me.

Just a note that my wifi card (broadcom 1397) could not connect to non-WEP encrypted networks (WPA, WPA2 etc) after 10.8.4, but restoring airportd from 10.8.3 as suggested in another thread appears to have worked re-attached that file here replace the /user/libexec/airportd with this one, fix permissions to 755 & root:wheel ownership. I also removed the apple quarrantine flag: xattr -d com.apple.quarantine /user/libexec/airportd

Something that could be instructive: when you manually enter the command "shutdown -h now" it says ML_OSX is busy updating; waiting for lock;" and it never makes it there. So some process is holding the lock that allows the system to shut down perhaps. Maybe there is some script that could kill that process then initiate shutdown.

Thanks so much I was able to install 10.8.4 finally on my e6400 with nvidia following this guide. What's the status on shutdown/restart issue? Does anyone have a reliable solution?

I tried following this guide with new App store 10.8.4. I tseems to get to very nearly boot (from the myHack install drive) then freezes with last warning being "AGPM Controller unkownPlatform" Then loads intel8256MM then "enable success" Then freezes there. I have tried different Nvidia kexts posted on here.. doesn't get me past that stage. I used the e6400 boot back with the changed line in the bootloader config file as suggested

I started with a disk image I believe someone had made for the e6400 for 10.8.2 and replaced many of the kexts you and others have posted here so I don't have myhack etc. I suppose i'll try some afternoon and set up from scratch on another partition as in your guide here so i'm comparing apples & apples... so to speak

FYI i disabled speed step and I still have gotten the key/mouse stops responding issue. It might be less frequent but hard to know because it's fairly random.

OK turned it off I'll wait to see if the issue recurs

Does anyone else get occasional random lockups of keyboard + mouse? Everything works great on this (occasionally restart +shutdown fail ) in 10.8.2 with the kexts here but every so often as I'm typing.. it seems to be when a lot of keys are pressed in a short period, it locks up. If I happen to have a USB mouse nearby I can at least select shutdown and try to save things with the mouse.. but it's very frustrating.
