    SL 64bit on D620s

I assumed that since Lion required a 64bit D620 that it was running a 64bit kernel. Well I just checked my D620Nidia64bit running Lion(10.7.5) and it show only 32bit kernel. I'm with Herve, SL in 32bit will be okay on my D620 32bit machine and I will use Lion on my D620 64bit one. Thanks again

    SL 64bit on D620s

Thanks Herve ... I had just stumbled across that topic minutes ago. Is the bottom line that D620Vidia64bit machine can only run SL in 32 bit mode? I can live with that but it didn't seem obvious. Since I'm new to the Hackintosh scene I thought it was some mistake I was making doing the install.

    SL 64bit on D620s

Back to testing... It is loading sometrhing close to nvhal40. I think it is nvdanv40hal. The boot log lines are flashing up quickly and it doesn't seem to be the same each time. I tried to use Wait=yes and that doesn't pause the boot log. i have read conflicting statements about the default boot mode of SL being 64bit. My system boots fine w/o arch=x86_64. It appears to be booting 32bit by default. I;m using current (3.1.2) Myhack chameleon as described here. anymore thoughts? Thanks

    SL 64bit on D620s

Good catch.... I tried boot options "-v arch=x86_64" and now it hangs at solid blue screen. Guess it is a 32 bit driver that doesn't like the 64bit kernel.

    SL 64bit on D620s

Thanks for the quick reply.... I have the clean install of SL 10.6.0 on the D620Nvidia64bit system and I still cannot get it to run the 64 bit kernel. I have tried "-arch=x86_64" and system profiler --> Software shows that I'm not using 64bit. Has anyone gotten SL to run in 64bit mode on a D620? I have searched the forums, but I have not found any anwsers there.
  6. I have SL 10.6.8 running on D620Nvidia in 32bit mode. This is a 32bit only D620. I would like to get it running on another D620Nvidia 64-bit machine in 64bit mode. Is this supported? If so, can I clone the first D620(32bit) to the D620(64bit) or is a clean installed required. I have already tried the cloning method and it doesn't seem to work with -force64 flag, but maybe some other tweaks need to be done. ? As I write this I'm trying a clean install on the D620Nvidia 64bit machine. Thanks
  7. I have installed Lion (bought from Apple Store) on a d620 (core2duo) that is working well. I really would like to also get snow leopard running on another D620 DuoCore (note not Duo 2 core). I have looked for legit DvD and download options without success. Any advice on where to obtain legit copy? Someone local is willing to provide me with a dmg, but if I go this way I want to be confident it hasn't been "tampered with". Can someone provide a chechsum of their 10.6.0 dmg for verification? I have spent hours googleing this and I still have no "firm" answers. Thanks EDIT: Okay I just googled snow leopard "DVD" and I see that Amazon has a dvd for around $100!! now is this the only option? I finally called Apple and they have SL DvD for $20 for 1 lic or $30 for 1-5 lic
  8. Is the DVD Player not working with D620 internal Dvd drives a common problem? I have 3 D620s with new installs of 10.7.4 and none of them have Dvd Player that works. I just didn't want to "give up" on something that I thought would work. I certainly will use VLC if necessary.
  9. I have just installed Lion 10.7.4 on a D620 Nvidia. So far only problems are flaky sleep mode and the DVD player will not play Dvd movies. Dvd drive works with data dvds and VLC player will play movies. I have spent hour sseearching and still no answers. I can do without sleep mode, but it would be nice. Really would like DVD player to work if possible. I'm new here and thanks to all you have put together a great resource for my old hardware... I'm using new edp 4.7 which did fix my audio. Thanks JRM
