New Dell XPS 15 9500 System BIOS v.1.18.0 from 13 Sep 2022 Dell has released a new version of the BIOS which claims that "Fixed the issue where the system stops responding at the Dell logo while booting.". Will that fix the sleep/wake up issue in macOS?

@guy I have moved on from the XPS 15 9500. It's a great laptop, but the S3 sleep issue is really important for me. Were you able to solve your issue? Can I help?

Lenovo ThinkBook 15p: unable to boot Monterey installer
djuby replied to djuby's topic in Lenovo systems
Thank you for the referred posts. Really helpful to understand what is supported and what's not. For sure Intel doesn't make it easy. From the second reference looks like this configuration worked on a similar laptop as mine and should work for me as well. Unfortunately I get kernel panic. -
Lenovo ThinkBook 15p: unable to boot Monterey installer

Device id 0x9BC4 is nativly supported in macOS as per WEG guide, so there is no need to inject device-id, correct? And for AAPL,ig-platform-id, should I use one for UHD 620 or UHD 630? Current SMBIOS is MacBook Pro 16,4. Should I use a different one? Does it help to know that Windows reports 128MB dedicated video memory for the UHD graphics? -

Some progress update. With the following configuration I have some change in the video. I've made a video - https://file.io/bs4ZJkkWYDQ3 <key>PciRoot(0x0)/Pci(0x2,0x0)</key> <dict> <key>AAPL,ig-platform-id</key> <data>BgCbPg==</data> <key>disable-external-gpu</key> <data>AQAAAA==</data> <key>dpcd-max-link-rate</key> <data>FAAAAA==</data> <key>enable-dpcd-max-link-rate-fix</key> <data>AQAAAA==</data> <key>enable-hdmi-dividers-fix</key> <data>AQAAAA==</data> <key>framebuffer-patch-enable</key> <data>AQAAAA==</data> <key>framebuffer-fbmem</key> <data>AACQAA==</data> <key>framebuffer-stolenmem</key> <data>AAAwAQ==</data> <key>framebuffer-con0-enable</key> <data>AQAAAA==</data> <key>framebuffer-con0-type</key> <data>AgAAAA==</data> <key>framebuffer-con0-pipe</key> <data>CAAAAA==</data> <key>framebuffer-portcount</key> <data>AwAAAA==</data> </dict> -
Lenovo ThinkBook 15p: unable to boot Monterey installer
djuby replied to djuby's topic in Lenovo systems
I have some progress. I was able to boot without -igfxvesa, but with no HW acceleration whatsoever. Here is my video patch. It only boots without flipping the hex for device-id. If I flip the digits as per WEG manual it boots without video signal on the laptop display. Edit: Just realized that without proper device-id (i.e flipping the hex pairs) there is no way to get HW acceleration. Am I on the right track for at least a correct frame buffer? -

I am using an Olarila vanilla Monterey image. Never had an issue with previous versions, but I can try something else. What would you suggest? -

Not much choice in the BIOS. Lenovo has hidden all advanced settings Here is a link to screenshots of the BIOS (file is bigger than the size allowed for upload here) https://file.io/Fdx066lIOji6 -

Lenovo ThinkBook 15p: unable to boot Monterey installer
djuby replied to djuby's topic in Lenovo systems
Marching on I was able to make some progress. Using those device properties: AAPL,ig-platform-id = 0900A53E device-id = 9B3E0000 framebuffer-patch-enable = 01000000 framebuffer-stolenmem = 00003001 framebuffer-fbmem = 00009000 I am able to boot without video - screen shows the boot text, but the system actually boots. I have sound when pressing vol+/- keys. I am also able to clean shutdown the system via keyboard shortcut. I guess this means that the those properties are OK, but the video out is not correct. What should I do next? P.S. The system behaves the same without the device-id property too. -

Lenovo ThinkBook 15p: unable to boot Monterey installer

At this point I guess I have to patch my video (iGPU) before trying to use "-wegnoegpu" boot arg to disable the dGPU and remove "-igfxvesa" arg, correct? How do I make a patch for my video: - CPU Intel® Core™ i7-10750H - iGPU - Intel® UHD Graphics for 10th Gen Intel® Processors (Device ID 0x9BC4) https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/201837/intel-core-i710750h-processor-12m-cache-up-to-5-00-ghz.html -

I used "-wegnoegpu" and removed the "-igfxvesa" arg from boot-arg and I got a kernel panic - backtrace showed problem with AppleSMC and VirtualSMC. I also tried both methods from this guide (https://dortania.github.io/Getting-Started-With-ACPI/Laptops/laptop-disable.html) and with both the GPU is disabled (does not show in Hackintool), but during boot the fans kick into high gear and stay in high gear until I shut down the laptop. With both methods I can only boot with "-igfxvesa" flag, otherwise it gets stuck - no kernel panic, but stuck at boot. -

@Baio77 I updated all Voodoo kexts, but still having problem with the trackpad. It is very choppy and multitouch is not working.
-
@Baio77 Still having issue with the trackpad. It is working but it's very choppy. When I try to enter trackpad settings it gets stuck on the beach ball and does not open the settings. Any ideas?
-
Would it help if I disable Thunderbolt in the BIOS?
-
Boot was much, much faster. Looks like everything works fine. I have added the audio profile in the boot args to enable audio. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth work too. Restart is fast as well. The only thing left is hibernation. Any suggestions?

It booted with some issues. While booting it hang on IOUSBHostDevice for a while (check attached screenshots). Then it continued to boot to desktop. The trackpad is working but it's very choppy. When I try to enter trackpad settings it gets stuck and does not open the settings. Restart is working, but it takes longer than usual. Attaching screenshots and IOReg. IOReg.zip

@Baio77 Here is the screenshot from Hackintool with USBInjectAll.kext and the exported kext from Hackintool. USBPorts.kext.zip

@Baio77 The ports are as follows: 2x Thunderbolt™ 3 with power delivery & DisplayPort 1x USB-C 3.1 with power delivery & DisplayPort How should I map them correctly?
-
@Baio77 I have used this guide to do the USB port mapping - https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Post-Install/usb/intel-mapping/intel.html Do you recommend to use Hackintool's method instead?
-
Hi Baio77, Yes, I did USB port mapping. Here is the IOReg. Best regards. IOReg.zip
