  1. To get volume control working -> see VoodooHDA volume control fix. Basically you have to enable "Volume change fix" and "Mute fix" within the kext. Also, if you get "AGPM controller: unsupported platform" during boot -> thats because MacBookPro 8,2 were released with ATI cards instead of NVidia, so go to AppleGraphicsPowerManagement.kext and copy one of the non-"IGPU" nodes from MacBookPro 6,2 config and rename them to "GFX0". This will enable proper power management for video card.
  2. I have Mountain Lion 10.8.2 running with the same results as 10.7.5 + screen luminosity control is working (NVS 4200M). To get it working I had to use Kexts from e6520 thread started by Igashu (most important one is NV4200M next which loads NV*100Hal.kext for more device ids).
  3. Booting with Optimus Enabled when all is configured gives SLEEP.... but screen is full of artifacts and problems (unsable!, see my post hereVideo artifacts on HD 3000). Hope thats a hint to actually get it work. A few updates: For Native Power Management in >10.7.2 you'll need AICPMPatch (http://olarila.com/f....php?f=9&t=1003), Drop OEM SSDT, turn off GeneratePStates and CStates in plist and get SSDT from multifail For UEFI boot Clover can be used
  4. That happens only if I boot with Clover. When I switched back to iboot (chameleon, stolen and rebranded) with Chameleon -> SpeedStep finally started working!! No NullCPU anymore. P.S. Had to use SSDT.aml from multifail to get it working. GeneratePStates and CStates options had to be turned off.
  5. I see that these instructions require usage of NullCPU.kext, but in e6420 (DSDT research thread) it says it is possible to run it with Native Power Management. For that the only requirement is proper DSDT (which we have, right?) and SpeedStepper patch (which allows AICPM.kext to load without KP). The original SpeedStepper won't work in non-10.7.2, but here you can get a patch script which works for any AICPMPatch. Now with all that in place boot hangs after "Waiting for DSMOS...", but there are no KPs. Any ideas how to troubleshoot this? P.S. For those who have issues with mouse and trackpad going crazy (or not working with PS2 enablers) -> remove Touchpad plugin kext from ApplePS2Controller kext. For dual boot with Win 7 I'm using Clover v2 UEFI bootloader, since e6420 supports EFI. For that your hard drive needs to be partitioned in GPT.
