  1. thanks for the reply again. i downloaded a fresh OSX copy of Yosemite from the app store eventually and created the install disk. After a number of attempts i managed to install Yosemite on the dell. A little confusing as different attempts would fail at different stages, as i kept notes of the installation process. Install seems stable ( albeit at this early stage ) apart from really poor quality crackling sound and the expected non working intel wireless card. I would prefer not to replace the internal wireless card as i intend to dual boot with win 7 if there is a good reliable cheap usb adapter out there. I have 3 usb wireless adapters, all pretty average/poor performers in windows that i have failed to get working though i have not had enough spare time to thoroughly research their compatibility/installation procedure. The adapters are : Dynamode WL 700N XSX - installed? but unable to setup. Edimax 7811Un no Yosemite driver on website but i tried the mavericks driver Digitazz - Ralink that seems to install but cannot setup. I have tried these devices on another hackintosh running yosemite as i do not want to trash the dell e 6400 even though i have used easeus to clone my install to a spare drive and also created a time machine backup. I also cannot enable trim using the @sudo trimforce enable @ as it will not accept my password to complete the instruction. Is there any way to confirm that the graphics is fully working? HMmmmmmmmmm Thanks for all your help. Darrell
  2. Thanks Herve for the reply. I am pretty sure i have partitioned the usb drive properly as i have created several usb installers for various distros including my hack. I have managed to install M Lion with my Hack from this forum though the touchpad is still not working, along with the intel wireless but i expected that, but i really need yosemite if i am to assist my brother. Cheers Darrell
  3. Hi folks i am once again trying to have a play with hackintosh as my brother has just splashed out on a mac and is going to need some support. I have a dell e6400/3 gb ram with the nvidia nvs 160m graphics card and intel wireless, that i use as a spare laptop that was purchased on ebay to have a play with mac osx. It runs win 7 fine though win 10 seems a little slow. i would like to dual boot with yosemite or El capitan and win 7. I have tried creating the usb installer on 2 of my other hackintoshes, one running M Lion and another Yosemite with 2 different usb sticks but they return " the installation failed "messages quite quickly. I have googled the message but have had no joy in finding a solution. Help Please!! Thanks darrell
  4. thanks for that Herve. My settings had overscan so i have just turned that off. problem solved. Now for the HDMI audio problem and the hissing on my audio out to my HiFi amp. Thanks again
  5. I am experimenting with MAX OSX on a number of Intel based machines. Main Boards are Asus P5G41T-M LX. and running Yosemite Generally running quite well OOB but on my HTPC/other desktop i cannot get HDMI audio working . Cards are EVGA 512 Mb Nvidia G210 and Asus 1GB HD 6450. I also cannot get the desktop to fit my Panasonic Plasma so am missing toolbars at the top of the screen. I have spent a couple of days researching this and trying various fixes but no joy. I have also downloaded a number of so called hdmi fixes again without any joy. Any Advice?
  6. Thanks for all the replies. I have finally managed to install Mountain Lion onto this laptop using MyHack and the High Resolution Bootpack for the Dell D630 X3100. Managed to update to 10.8.3 despite error message saying update failed. Mouse and Trackpad working along with Broadcam 4311 wireless Sound, ethernet not working at the present and graphics stuck at 1024x768 i. I am hoping over the weekend to sort these out with the instructions here https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/2464-dell-latitude-d630-intel-gma-x3100-ml-with-full-qeci/ Thanks again for all replies
  7. thanks for the reply, but i was under the impression that the dell d630/d830 range of laptops have been tweaked to run mountain lion with x3100. I was hoping that the kexts would work with the dell 1520. Am i right to assume this? Thanks again for the reply
  8. i have been trying to install various versions of Mountain Lion on this laptop to experiment with MAC OSX. I am a total newbie at this. Usually stops at ACPI System State S0 S3 S4 S5. Tried boot flags -x -f -s -v with no joy. Myhack goes further but then stops at 19 minutes to go and there it stays forever . I have replaced the ACPIPlatform.kext and the IOATAFamily.kext from posts on this site to help D630 users without any success. I have successfully installed all these versions on various desktops also with 965 Chipset without any major install issues so am happy with the integrity of these various installers. Having read that D630/D830 with integrated GMA X3100 work with M Lion so hoping this will work too. Is this a correct assumption? Specs Dell Inspiron T5250 cpu Onboard Intel Graphics GMA X3100 4Gb DDR2 Ram 128 GB Crucial SSD Broadcom 94311 Wireless card Thanks for any advice. i need a 14" laptop to also experiment with mac osx but have no spare dosh. is it worth getting hold of a s/h Dell D630 with onboard graphics ( cannot afford the Nvidia models ) to play with?
  9. thanks for the reply. i have alsp copied both the AppleACPIPlatform kext v1.3.2 and IOPCIFamimly kext from a snow leopard install on a Gigabyte G31M ES2L to the extra/extensions folder in the USB MyHack installer and then ran the MyFix option targetting the USB installer. Same " PCI configuration end "message. I also tried running the Myhack MyFix option targetting the actual install and then cloned the drive to a laptop drive and then attempted to boot the acer with the new drive but again same message. Not much hair Left.
  10. thanks for the advice i acquired the AppleACPIPlatform kext v1.3.6 from the Dell latitude D620 download. Is this a generic driver that is compatable with any install? i followed your instructions but still getting PCI configuration End message. i am playing around with Snow Leopard and have just managed to install the O/S but would prefer to use Mountain Lion if possible as Snow Leopard is rather long in the tooth, but i stand to be corrected. Thanks again for your advice
  11. i cannot locate the file in the usb pendrive so i have attempted to add the file. i have versions from other mlion installs that are versions 1.6/1.7. i have located version 1.3 from another older dmg, snow leopard. i have tried just adding the kext to the suggested location. with both 1.6 and then replaced with 1.3. still no joy. thanks again
  12. i do not think that this is the issue as mountain lion installs on an old desktop. please correct me if i am wrong? thanks again for the reply
  13. thanks for the reply. i have tried all combinations and always end up at the same screen that ends with pci configuration end. is there anyway i can confirm which option is the correct one. pendrive installs ok on an old desktop.
  14. Specs are Acer 5920g T5750 CPU 2x1GB PC5300 Ram 256mb Nvidia 8600gs 160gb hard drive bios set to AHCI mode thanks for the reply
  15. i have followed the guide for installing myhack Mountain Lion but cannot get past the following screen. http://cl.ly/image/2L1f2U2W2U1n?_ga=1.69433303.633388073.1425640278 i tried to download IOPCIFamily.kext from netkas HERE. but cannot find the relevant file so downloaded and installed the following http://www.hackintoshosx.com/topic/17184-need-iopcifamilykext-272/ same screen appears. Any help most appreciated as i am a complete newbie. Thanks
