OK, well its been sometime now, and apparently from what I have read, skylake is pretty successful as far as hackintoshing. I have my HP ENvy M7-109DX 17 inch laptop waiting to be converted. Does any one have any input?

Ok after posting, I think I may have answered part of my question, I read in another post titled "Still confused" my hack wasn't supported under 10.10 and 10.11 on Conti's part.

Ok so in an effort to research my anticipated install here, I went to this site on you tube as far as the Mirone patch. Can anyone who has experience tell me if I may have some trouble with this method? Last time on my Asus here, we mainly worked with MyHack. In the comments below the video, it mentioins ALC269 Brix only. What is Brix? Does this apply to my machine in question here?

OK, I'm on windows 10 here, I guess its a tad bit different but in "Details" it doesn't list anything however under "Events" it lists \FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0290&SUBSYS_103C817F&REV_1000\4&9d87850&0&0001. As far as the Intel520 thing, does this mean there is some kind of limitation in using OSX?

Ok... So doing as described by Jake Lo, the only thing I get is MMDEVAPI\AudioEndpoints. I clicked on all three options and under details, this is what I got I didn't see anything like VLC269AB etc... Also in regard to Herve's answer Re: iGPU vs. discrete GPU, well... isn't the answer obvious?- I'm not sure what you mean, please understand I'm still a noob. Sounds like an answer to my question about 940M and HD520 but I don't understand. Thank You!

Ok. I finally received my HP Envy M7-n109DX Specs: Intel [email protected],2601Mhz 2Core(s) BIOS Version insyde F.1A (9/23/15) UEFI Realtek High Def Audio Synaptics SMBus Touchpad NVIDIA 940M ; Intel HD Graphics 520 I can't see anything more on the audio besides what I listed after viewing device manager. Any suggestions let me know so that I can provide exact info if needed. Also, what difference would it make only having to rely on the HD 520 and not having support for NVDIA 940M ????

According to the general specs, it should be a 940. Everything else I don't know yet. I haven't received it yet. The specs list was very limited. I'm a graphic artist so I have been looking for a machine to replace apple macbook pro, but still run OSX. I have a serious problem with apple hardware and the way apple treats the general public. I'll post more after I get the machine in the next couple days or so.

Well, I ordered this HP Envy and plan to install Mountain Lion on it. I should be receiving it in the next day or so. This will be my third lesson in Hackintoshing. Can anyone suggest where to begin searching for info on working with this particular model? I'm thinking maybe this time I will do a clover install but I need to know which options to check in the install. Can anyone help or direct/Guide?

I have a question to ask about certain model laptops. I don't know where to post, I've spent some time looking at where best to post this question so please excuse me if this isn't the appropriate place to post, I just can't find where else and the "submit feedback about site specifically asks not to post/ask technical questions there...... I 've researched a list of best laptops for screen quality. after narrowing it down, it appears that the Dell latitiude 3550 is the better one. I like Mountain Lion because it runs Adobe CS6 well. The later OSX versions apparently seem to have some hiccups as far as I have read. If I'm wrong please let me know. Has anyone experienced trying to install Mountain Lion on this model laptop? If so, where can I find all the related info. How difficult will it be with this particular laptop? It supposedly has the best screen brightness and battery life.

I Couldn't find a posting for this specific issue about wifi, so if I shouldn't have posted here, then I apologize, I couldn't find any where else more suitable after searching. Trouble with my ASUS K53E seeing my AR 9285 WIFI Here is info on my wifi card02:00.0 Network controller: Qualcomm Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter (PCI-Express) (rev 01) Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company Device 1461 Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 17 Memory at dea00000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) Capabilities: Kernel driver in use: ath9k SO far my K53-E is running well, except for one very minor thing -and more importantly my wifi at the moment. When I clicked on network in settings, no wifi option was available. I tried a DSDT patch and still don't see anything. Can someone PLEASE help?

Can anyone direct me to a good video on how to dual boot Linux mint with OSX ML? I just had a very helpful and generous individual help me with getting my Asus K53E laptop to working order after waiting a while for someone to help me after being stuck. Though I 'm incredibly grateful to the crew, my self confidence is shot so I need a very simplified way to accomplish this. The written isntructions are kind of scary and overwhelming. All my kexts are in my Extensions folder. How can I show this to you? Can I send it to an alternate email or something? Should I just re install Rourbe's boot pack? What do I do? Very stuck.... When I read Rourbe's posts, if I remember correctly it looked like someone else had the same issue with sound. Or am I wrong??

i've used both, my hack and unifail. I remember then coming across Rourbe's post and downloading her folder and suddenly it seemed like everything was working on my laptop except for sound. Standby, I'll bootup my laptop in question and copy/paste what I have in my lib extensions to answer your question and hopefully help me out here!

I thought I did, but now I'm not so sure since I'm kind of a noob. I read her post and downloaded what she provided. Since that was a little while ago, now I'm not so sure about what I did. Would it help if I provide my IOREG? what can I provide to show what I have activated?

OK, well, I'm not getting any help anywhere about this appleHDA problem. Can you please (Anyone) give me some more insight to the latest voodoo 2.8.8 that was released? How close in quality are we at this point? I'm about to just go with this option because I'm not getting anywhere here and I need to use my computer. I refuse to buy any more computers from Apple and keep them in business after knowing how they think they can treat people and still suck money from them to make them even more powerful at the expense of the community who allows them!!!!

I tried to use clover after I installed with the old unifail chimera (chameleon, stolen and rebranded) way and it was catastrophic for me because all these instructions are written in ways that assume the reader is very proficient already. The screenshots at the bottom of that download page provide a clue as to how to use it but it is still vague and doesn't inspire any confidence at all in how to use the tool or application properly. So every step of the way, I'm trying to guess at what I'm doing and because I don't understand it completely, its easy to do something wrong or incomplete and knowing this gives someone a fear of trying. If you know of someone who may provide step by step instruction, please point me there. I'm even willing to make a small donation to whoever can help me through this. I would also love to contribute my success further in providing an easier quicker resource.

OK, well, I thought I should get back to you on what you suggested. I finally got the guts to try tonight but after downloading, I didn't know what else to do. The so called instructions are not clear for a noob like me. It downloaded a folder onto my desktop named Mirone audio but I'm lost. before having this folder, the only thing I knew to do was to download the package, open it then go to the laptop selection, select my version of alc269vb (now I don't know which version) and it downloaded that folder I just mentioned. I tried to restart and nothing. I really don't know what to do with this folder. Can you please guide me????

Just wanted to say thank you again for that reply! I saw it some time ago but haven't been able to look into it and get past my frustration and try this mental challenge. I gotta explore it and figure out how to do this I guess. Video Tutorials are the best though. I also have to say that this Asus laptop has about the closest screen quality to a macbook pro (or atleast my late 2008 macbook Pro), so if I can get this audio to work then it will be an excellent hack. Very Appreciated.
