  1. Sorry I should have taken pictures of the kernel panics. Problem is the kernel panic was not consistent and I was trying a few things.

So I started off by extracting DSDT, looked in CPU-z and saw I had ICH8 mainboard. Searched on google and found patches for ICH8. I've attached them here and they are already in the DSDT I attached earlier.

If someone can let me know obvious errors, I can then try again with any fixed DSDT I receive or can create, and this time take picture of kernel panic.

PS I used Chameleon. I'm new to this and am "clover challenged". Also I read on old laptops best to use Chameleon.

Thanks in advance for your help and patience.

  2. Folks,

I believe I have all compatible parts for Mac OS Yosemite, but before I change the Wifi Card and Blue Tooth card, I need to get to Disk Utilities. Trying to get Yosemite it working on my Inspiron 1720. I could try El Capitan too I think, but right now I cannot get past Kernel Panics. If I remove the battery I get a little bit ahead but still get kernel panic ultimately.

I think I patched my DSDT correctly for my CPU / Mainboard and have attached it. Appreciate any help.

    Here are the specs:

Intel Mobile Core 2 Duo T5250 1.5 Ghz

    Mainboard 82801HBM (ICH8-ME)

    4GB DDR2

    NVidia GeForce 8400M GS 128MB

    Appreciate any help.

  3. I apologize if this has been asked already, but I didn't see it in this thread.  Does anybody else get the SD cards mounting twice?  Does anybody know how to fix this?

I have this exact problem. Know how to fix it? It started after I installed VoodooSDHC.kext. Can only complain so much about the annoyance. At least I can use the internal SD Card on my Latitude e6500.

  4. Thanks for the clarification. When I installed Clover manually over Chameleon, I had issues with Shutdown and Bluetooth. So I want to re-install using Clover on the USB stick. However, before I do that I wanted to ask if my ONE pressing problem right now - Sleep - is an issue with a bad kext or because my dsdt.aml needs a patch.

    Description of my issue:
    1) If I let computer idle, power light is blinking, but really only the screen is off and HD is running. So its not really sleeping. I can't take it off its pretend sleep using keyboard or mouse, but have to press Power button (not really a biggie)
    2) If I select Sleep from menu, it pretends to sleep but then pressing the blinking power light does not bring light back on. I have to power cycle.

Thanks in advance for your time and help.

*EDIT* Never mind! I saw your other post. I didn't know I had to waite 20 seconds. Sleep IS working. How can I make it ask me password when I wake it? THAT is not working.

Now if only someone can give me Kext to Fix my internal Card Reader. Anyone have it working?

  5. I installed the El Capitan on a Dell N5010 with Clover. The problem is that I have a low resolution (also runs very laggy) and the video memory shows only 3mb.

Some says that with Clover bootloader you can achieve QE/CI on the Mobility Radeon by setting "LoadVBios=Yes" but seems that didn't do trick.

Is there anyway to fix this problem ?

Card Name : ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 (1 GB RAM)

Can you please suggest links for preparing USB Clover Stick for N5010?

  6. Hi, finally I can post my files to boot Yosemite 10.10 Final on Dell Latitude E6500 (it may works on E6400, too).

    I used Clover bootloader r2953.

In folder /EFI/Clover/OEM/ I have folder 0PP476, which is ID of my motherboard (You can rename it with your own).

I this folder are needed files to booting (config.plist, DSDT.aml and needed kexts).

    This is working:

    - CPU speedstep

    - GPU with native resolution 1920x1200

    - Sound (with VoodooHDA 2.7.3 + AppleHDADisabler) I think, you can use patched AppleHDA for IDT sound, it works, too, but I don't know, if it will work after update 10.10.1

    - Bluetooth

    - WLAN

    - LAN

    - Shutdown + restart

    - TRIM for SSD HDD, patch is applied in clover.config file :)

    This is not working:

    - SLEEP, after press button to sleep, fans are still working, only display goes to sleep mode. The same result with closing LID.

    - SD card reader (I have not tested it completely, but 8GB SDHC card it not readable.

    - iMessage

    Sorry for stupid questions.

    1) Need to create folder with Motherboard Id under /EFI/Clover/OEM on the USB Stick and folder should be empty?

    2) Appreciate where to put config.plist, dsdt.aml and kexts on the USB stick (url?)

Clover is little hard for me to understand. I did the install and then installed Clover, but that killed my shutdown and bluetooth even though I got iMessage. Really appreciate any help so I can get everything working.

  7. HWMonitor shows that frequency is between x6-x11, with speed varies from 800Mhz to 2.8Ghz. Even at 800Mhz, it's running very hot.

GPU temperature seems normal, never in the red but still hot. I'm not sure why it's this hot when the laptop have always been 45+ degrees in idle on Windows/Linux and 60-70 under heavy load. I'll try the article you mentioned. I wanted to do the CPU tuning that you wrote before too, but I figured I don't need to since OP had kindly did it for our CPU, which is the same.

EDIT: It seems that according to HWMonitor, my CPU only uses the minimum and the maximum frequency, no other clock speeds were used. Perhaps this is why my CPU have been so hot when the CPU is constantly at maximum frequency even when not under heavy load. Does this mean that my SpeedStep is not working? I've enabled it in the BIOS too. Any ideas how to fix this?

EDIT 2: Upon further inspection, it seems that my GPU speed is at a constant, both core and memory. I will try the AGPM edit and see how it goes.

EDIT 3: I have successfully gained GPU throttling through AGPM. HWMonitor is showing that the GPU die temperature is decreasing over time. However, I'm still not satisfied with the CPU temperature and I'm seeking to solve this problem by trying to fine tune it myself. Or perhaps let the system cool itself down first and see how it goes.

EDIT 4: GPU is fully managed and throttled, CPU SpeedStep is completely functioning. And so I have came up with another theory, perhaps it was the fan all along. It doesn't sound like it was spinning fast enough, as even at the minimum clock, the temperature is at 67+ degrees. Is there any way to make the fan go faster according to the thermal?

Can you please explain how in "Edit 4" you concluded GPU and CPU are working properly? I seem to be having same issue with heat.
