Administrators Leon Posted August 18, 2018 Administrators Share Posted August 18, 2018 Hi there, By now you have properly heard the internet gossip of the latest buzzword in the chromeOS sphere - Crostini - but what it is. In a nutshell, it’s a way to run regular Linux applications on Chrome OS without compromising security or enabling developer mode. The (available for certain devices in canary channel) official setting states that it’s to “Run Linux tools, editors, and IDEs on your Chromebook.” Crostini is a culmination of several years of development that enabled the functionality to run securely enough to meet Chrome OS’s high-security standards. To understand why it’s only just appearing, it’s best to look at what came before. In this forum we will dig more into how it works, what applications is good - and which is not really suited - over time - we'll also have a look at the technicalities behind the scene. Enjoy! //LeonOther resources: - Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/Crostini/
