E6530 hangs on installation

Hi all,


If anyone can help with this, that would be great.  I am running OS 10.9.3 on a Dell E6530.  It is becoming unstable, so I am attempting to wipe and reinstall.  I have created an installer USB using this method:  



The version of OSX i have loaded onto the installer USB is 10.9.5.  However, when I start up from the USB, it hangs.  See the screenshot, attached.


If anyone can help, that would be great.
