aufannada
Hi Jake, now I'm trying to install El Capitan on the same laptop, Dell Latitude E7270 Core i7 DW1830. I use the same EFI that was successfully used in installing High Sierra. But when the USB installer is used to install, the thing that appears is: This version of Mac OS is not supported on this platform! Reason: Mac-473D31EABEB93F9B (as shown in the picture). Then I change the SMBIOS in config.plist by selecting type 12.1 (as shown in the picture) and after that the USB installer can run. But then it stops as seen in the picture. Please help. Moderators Jake Lo Posted June 9, 2019 Moderators Share Posted June 9, 2019 You need a minimum of 10.11.4 to run on Skylake See here You could try adding boot arg -no_compat_check
aufannada
My installer is already using El Capitan version 10.11.6 (15G31). And I've also used boot arg -no_compat_check. But, the results are still the same.
Moderators Jake Lo Posted June 9, 2019 Moderators Share Posted June 9, 2019 boot with arg to complete the install without graphics acceleration. Once completed, you can boot normally. -igfxvesa
aufannada
when I only use one of boot arg -no_compat_check or -igfxvesa only, the problem will still appear as the third image above. but when I use both of these boot args together, the problem seen is as below. It says that OS X El Capitan is already installed on this Mac.
Moderators Jake Lo Posted June 9, 2019 Moderators Share Posted June 9, 2019 If you're dual booting or triple booting, make sure to increase the EFI partition
aufannada
No. I am not currently dual booting or triple booting now because the hard disk installed with High Sierra and Windows 10 have been reformatted and none of the OSs are installed now. aufannada
Thank you for helping. I have successfully installed El Capitan on my E7270. Then have installed Clover to SSD and follow all procedures at https://osxlatitude.com/forums/topic/8506-dell-latitude-inspiron-precision-vostro-xps-clover-guide Now, the problem is : 1. Normal boot doesn't work and stops as in the first picture 2. Booting will succeed if followed by boot arg -no_compat_check and -igfxvesa. But, the result, the display obtained is only 4 MB as in the second picture
Moderators Jake Lo Posted June 10, 2019 Moderators Share Posted June 10, 2019 Repair permissions and rebuild cache. Can you boot without -igfxvesa? If not, then you might have to follow my DVMT guide here and here for E7x70.
