Administrators Hervé Posted March 8, 2020 Administrators Share Posted March 8, 2020 In terms of installation, there'll be very little difference between Catalina and, say, Sierra or High Sierra; you just need to check that the minimum requirements for Catalina are met (see the Pick list on forum 1st page) and use latest Clover + updated kexts where/if applicable (eg: Lilu, WEG). Having also posted a full Catalina guide for the D630 nVidia, I invite you to refer to that, keeping in mind that, of course, you cannot use it "as is" but only after you've adjusted the pack for your own system's specs (eg: DSDT, audio, LAN, AGPM, etc.). Bear in mind that those old laptops do not meet the minimum graphics hardware requirement so full graphics acceleration is not natively and entirely supported. Tesla dGPU can only enjoy OpenGL graphics acceleration which does impact overall performance and is not 100% bug free. If you want full performance and full graphics acceleration, the buck stops at High Sierra.
hassan9311
dear herve , is there any possible chance you can help me create. a clover pack for the use on the dell m6300 to run catalina please ,
Administrators Hervé Posted July 3, 2020 Administrators Share Posted July 3, 2020 Not like that, no; you'd need to post the full hardware specs and a dump of your ACPI tables. We can then try and build a Clover pack based for work previously done on such old and unsupported C2D laptop platforms. Also bear in mind that, as posted in my D630 guide, the method I had described for Catalina worked up to 10.15.3. It didn't work in 10.15.4 and, presumably, beyond. It's therefore highly likely you'd have to use dosdude1's patcher.
hassan9311
herve , can you tell me how i can extract the acpi tables of my laptop which is currently running high sierra ?
Administrators Hervé Posted July 20, 2020 Administrators Share Posted July 20, 2020 The same way it's been for years: you press F4 at clover main menu or through any iASL tool in High Sierra (with any patches you may apply through Clover). hassan9311
dear herve, sorry to bother you sir just wondering any joy or do you need more info regarding the kext pack for catalina ??
Administrators Hervé Posted August 9, 2020 Administrators Share Posted August 9, 2020 You could work it out, really. It'll be more or less the same pack as, say, Sierra, with the added complexity of: telemetry plugin replacement nVidia Tesla kext installation and workarounds And double check your Embedded Controller of course as per the Catalina requirements thread pinned to "Our Picks" list. Follow what I detailed in my D630 guide.
