No two persons will have the same idea of "the best" laptop. Unlike desktop, it's not possible to build your own laptop, so it's a matter of comparison between HW supported by Apple and best-matching equipment from laptop manufacturers. And of course, for less $$$ than a MacBook. As for running "whatever gets released next", you can never be too sure...
