Nichod
Does anyone know if the slice battery works with OSX? (with e6400/6500 in Lion or ML)
Administrators Hervé Posted December 11, 2012 Administrators Share Posted December 11, 2012 Just so that there is no confusion, are you talking about battery slice as illustrated below? If that's the case, I see no reason why it would not. After all, Latitude D6xx run OS X ok when connected to a docking station and so do attached devices (screen, keyboard, mouse, USB devices, etc) + power block. I would not expect any need for dedicated kexts...
bobdamnit
Herve, does the slice battery also act as a dock? If so, I could see that being a problem if the e6400/6500 DSDT hasn't been modified as well as the D6xx's DSDT. I know that the Dell Slice batteries use the docking station port on the bottom, so as long as that is functioning in OS X, I don't see it being a problem. Nichod
Yes. The slice battery that attaches to the base.
Administrators Hervé Posted December 11, 2012 Administrators Share Posted December 11, 2012 They are just batteries, nothing else. They do not provide any additional functionalities or extensions like a docking station or a port replicator does.
bobdamnit
Thanks for that. I was considering purchasing one if it acted as a dock as well, but since it doesnt I'll reconsider a second battery instead. Does anyone know if the dock port works on the e64/500? I've never known anyone with this model to try.
