JamerTheProgrammer
Hey! I really wanna get a D430 latitude. Its the perfect size (12') and it has a great cpu (c2d) so I would love to be able to run it on ML at one point. I know it will run but without QE/CI which is crucial for me. Do you think someday somone might make a 64 bit kext for the GMA 950? Also, does the D430 work on Lion with QE and CI? Thanks!
iMick
Nope sorry, we have tried a lot but it isn't possible.. And I don't think it will be possible in the future.. I have the D430 (core duo) also and it runs perfect on Lion 10.7.5 . (with QE / CI).
Administrators Hervé Posted March 15, 2013 Administrators Share Posted March 15, 2013 As Mick said, ML is a no-go on the D430. Apple dropped support for GMA950 (and GMA X3100 for that matter) and I can't see anyone pumping time into writing 64bit kexts either. It's just too old hardware, that's how it goes unfortunately... The C2D-based D430 will therefore run Lion at best (in 32bit kernel mode).
JamerTheProgrammer
Ah ok. Il settle for that. Its such a shame that there isnt a sub 12-13 inch notebook that has GPU compatibility with OSX thats affordable
JamerTheProgrammer
Also: The C2D in the D430 is 64bit right? If so (in theory) I should be able to run Lion in 64Bit right? If not, will I be able to run finder in 32 bit mode?
Administrators Hervé Posted March 15, 2013 Administrators Share Posted March 15, 2013 Please, do a little search on the forum (D4xx and D6xx), all that has already been mentionned many many times before in the past and quite extensively on the Net too.
