Administrators Hervé Posted November 29, 2013 Administrators Share Posted November 29, 2013 You can get some pointers here: https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/2120-supportedunsupported-wireless-cards-inventory/ I can recommend the Atheros AR5B91, often found on ebay for peanuts as ex-Apple Mac. marlawre
I have purchased and installed the Atheros AR5B91 card into my D630C. Is there a kext that I need to have it operational? I don't see if automatically supported and don't see it in the system report. The one thing that I did notice is when I took the Dell card out, there was an additional mounting point for what seemed to be a power cable, but on th AR5B91 card, there are only antenna mounting points - was just wondering about that too. Administrators Hervé Posted December 11, 2013 Administrators Share Posted December 11, 2013 The Intel 4965 is using 3 antennas where the AR5B91 only uses 2; there's no power cable there... Just leave the grey cable disconnected and its connector end properly insulated (they normally have a little transparent plastic sock when unused). Check the good detection of your Atheros card with lspci -nn Terminal command and make sure wireless is no longer disabled in BIOS if you had disabled it. You don't need any additional kext for that card, it works OOB as indicated in the thread.
