Administrators Hervé Posted August 10, 2014 Administrators Share Posted August 10, 2014 That old entry-level Quadro FX1400 card is unsupported under any recent OS X versions. It's based on NV41 GPU, i.e. same chip as good old GeForce 6 Series (like GeForce 6800 card). Never got mine to work in Snow Leopard; got neither QE, nor CI… Still, that was before I found out about my default PCI root set to 4. So you could try to patch the kexts mentioned in the following post and ensure you boot with the correct PCI root value, but don't have much hope... https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/2061-dell-precision-470-670-workstation-snow-leopardlionmountain-lionmavericks/&do=findComment&comment=15851 Whilst the card could possibly work in SL (http://www.infinitemac.com/discussion/4385/list-of-nvidia-gpus-supported-in-snow-leopard-10-6-1/p1), I think Lion dropped support and you can definitely forget about it beyond (ML, Mav, etc.) since these OS X versions no longer include NV40 support. As such, with Mavericks, you will have to replace it with a known supported (nVidia) card and there are plenty!
