[SOLVED] D630 X3100 myhack install/post install extension cannot be used issues

Hi Guys

First of all, great forum and thanks to all that contributed to the success.

I have issues with myHack.kext errors "System extension cannot be used".

I downloaded a fresh Lion 10.7.5 app from app store for install. Used my hack 3.3.1 to make usb installer. Installed "D630i_LoRes_10.7.5_Tuned_Pack." onto usb installer Extra folder. All went well.

Checked bios is correct as per this forum. Bios version A17. Installation of OSX Lion went well until just after I chose to use my own Extra folder. I pointed to the extra folder on the usb installer. A few minutes after that the installation returned failed with a log file. Can't work out from this log file what the issue is.

Anyhow, tried to boot the new installation and stopped at "Still waiting for root device". Next boot I used -f and succeeded to OSX configuration and into desktop. A few things didn't work, like sound, keyboard, trackpad, etc, so straight into my hack to run myfix (quick). During this a few popups came up with said "System extensions cannot............" In short, the myfix didn't fix my issues. Then, deleted myHack.kext and re-insalled myHack utilities. Same popup errors. Did a myfix (Full), and still same popup errors.

I also tried a suggestion from another post about the kext being quarantined. I used terminal with following commands

- cd S/L/E

- sudo xattr -c -r myHack.kext

- sudo touch S/L/E.

Get same popup errors using above.

Not sure what to do/try next..........any advice appreciated.

HI Hervè

Yes sure, .zip file attached

Just to give some more detail, I used this https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/7210-d630-w-intel-x3100-low-res-1280x800-dramas-with-edpv6-and-lion-1075/ for the install.

When I look at the SMbios (with chameleon wizard) i noticed mac 5.1 is selected. Not sure if it will make a difference, but with some research, I think i'm closer to a Mac 3.1.

Also attached, a snap shot of my hardware.

Arf, it's my own stuff. Sometimes I forget things, even recent ones...

There's no issue with this pack, you can take my word for it. Make sure you partition your destination HDD as GUID with Mac OS X (journaled) format.

Regarding the error message, can you take a note of which kext it applies? Or does it apply to all kexts placed in /E/E? Re-installing myHack Utilities then reinstalling Extra would sound the right thing to do.

Regarding SMBIOS, yes MB3,1 would appear a better choice, but that model does not support native SpeedStep; MB5,1 does. We've tested this in all angles many many moons ago, so rest assured there's no mistake... Do a search on "performance tuning" and you'll understand.

Hi

I quickly did a myfix to note down the errors

First one

- myHack.kext

then........

- myHack.kextContents/PlugIns/ACPISensors.kext

-myHack.kext/Contents/PlugIns/

-myHack.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleACPIEC.kext

-myHack.kext/Contents/PlugIns/ (sorry i missed this one)

-myHack.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleACPIPS2Nub.kext

- myHack.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleHDA.kext

- myHack.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleHDAController.kext

- myHack.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleHDAHardwareConfigDriver.kext

- myHack.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleHDAPlatformDriver.kext

-myHack.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleMikeyDriver.kext

- myHack.kext/Contents/PlugIns/ApplePS2Controller.kext

- myHack.kext/Contents/PlugIns/ApplePS2Keyboard.kext

-myHack.kext/Contents/PlugIns/ApplePS2Mouse.kext

-myHack.kext/Contents/PlugIns/BCM5722D.kext

-myHack.kext/Contents/PlugIns/DspFuncLib.kext

-myHack.kext/Contents/PlugIns/FakeSMC.kext

-myHack.kext/Contents/PlugIns/FakeSTAC9205.kext

-myHack.kext/Contents/PlugIns/GPUSensors.kext

-myHack.kext/Contents/PlugIns/IOHDAFamily.kext

-myHack.kext/Contents/PlugIns/LPCSensors.kext

-myHack.kext/Contents/PlugIns/lspcidrv.kext

-myHack.kext/Contents/PlugIns/Patched_10.7_AppleRTC.kext

-myHack.kext/Contents/PlugIns/VoodooBattery.kext

-myHack.kext/Contents/PlugIns/VoodooPS2Trackpad.kext

It seams pretty much all of them.

I'll try deleting myhack, install my hack again and install extra after that then run myfix (quick)

Right Herve, an update

I tried re-install myhack, then install extra then run myfix (quick). Get the same result. (This was done on installed HDD). I also tried the chmod and chown. Chown gives me "Operation not permitted". Then i decided to start all over again.

Then I re-installed myhack on USB installer. This time the OSX installation was successful. Upon reboot I got "Still waiting for root device". Rebooted with -f -v and into configuration and into desktop. After a short period of time, I then get 2 system extension errors;

- myHack.kext/Contents/PlugIns/IOHDAFamily.kext

- myHack.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleHDAController.kext

Since no sound from D630, above kexts must be the culprits.

I decided since I get "Still waiting for root....." error, to run my fix again. Now I get all the kexts errors as mentioned in post #5 again.

I'm really stumped at this one......What else can I do or am I doing wrong?

No idea, never seen issues like this. Did you notice the errors reported for USB/Firewire device? There's something wrong there, maybe your USB key is corrupt or something...

By the way, for permissions, the chmod/chown commands need to be run with sudo command.
