  1. Hervé i tried your patch.. HDMI working perfectly thanks..

DVI is not working from the PR03X E-port replicator nor is VGA.. plugging in the DVI cable with laptop powered up crashes the laptop auto rebooting it.  after it boots up there is an annoying beeping sound that goes away once i log in to the laptop.

Not that its important anyway as i'll likely not use the dock if its going to be a hassle

I can get around the issue using a HDMI to VGA adaptor and plug in a second monitor that way and it works somewhat..  Image is slightly blurry. Not sharp by any means.

only issue using the HDMI adaptor is that it also blocks one of the USB ports :(

  2. Great thanks Jake..  that fixed Audio after sleep..  and i can also say Bluetooth audio to my Plantronics Stereo 560 headset also works.. :) Although Headset port does not recognise a Microphone in a microphone enabled headset (Bluetooth or cabled).  (not sure if the e7440 has microphone as well as headset even though the icon next to the jack clearly shows a headset with mic)

HDMI does not seem to be working though..
It detects the TV as a HDMI connection in both Audio and Display properties but does not output anything to the screen (Black Screen) also sound still comes from laptop not TV speakers. (although it acts as it is using HDMI i.e can not adjust volume on laptop)...

  3. Well i went out an splurged on a Broadcom wi-fi card for the e7440.. (my work allowed me to keep the Laptop when they made me redundant.. How nice of them :)  )

and since i was having issues getting it recognised and that 10.11.6 was now out (previously running 10.11.4)

I decided to start from scratch.

so i built my USB drive for 10.11.6  following Jake's guide..

and so far so good.. Bluetooth was not work properly but i have that solved now and airdrop also works a treat (YAY) after installing 2 kexts mentioned in another recent post (thanks again Jake)  :)..

however the system is working great so far and it even wakes from sleep without crashing (FANTASTIC)  but i loose all sound..

    :(

Still have not tested headphones, HDMI and HDMI audio or using it with the Dell E-port Dock

So any help with sound not working after wake..  Scoured various forums but nothing relevant to 10.11.6..

The Internal speakers are still listed as the output device but there is nothing coming from them.. rebooting gets my sound back again but it disappears after sleep..

  4. i remember on the D series some of the parts where interchangeable like keyboards and displays sometimes even parts of the housings. they where designed that way to save on overhead costs for the IT department. i would think E series might also follow that rule.

would only be interchangeable with the same series. i.e. 6xxx or 7xxx series.  I had a few of the e5xxx series which i pulled keyboards and DVD players from and stored in stock as spare parts to keep the old fleet running still.

Dell just released the e7x70 series with and without touchscreen I believe they are Skylake models. be interesting to see if these can be Macified.

  5. lol by the time i purchase the parts to get it working, i may as well buy a working 2nd hand unit.

anyway still got the ole e6420 :) which i dropped another 4 gig ram in to recently :)  so can always transplant the OCZ SSD to that and patch to get it running. or start fresh,...  nothing important on the Hackbooks anyway.. everything that is of importance is on my Unlimited space Google Drive :)

Warranty period expired on it and as always when the warranty period expires and the company does a laptop refresh i dispose of the old laptops (most the time in perfectly working order) my duty in decommissioning them is to destroy the HDD but thats no biggie,  shame to see a perfectly good laptop go in the bin so i replace the HDD install windows then give the laptops away to relatives overseas in the Philippines. :)

  6. yes hate duplication but enjoy referencing :)

And yes i have removed the sleep image via the prescribed method in that text.

Still crashes exiting sleep :( oh well i may not have the e7440 much longer anyway as i am about to be made redundant in my job so this, being a work laptop, will have to be returned to the company, minus the wifi card and OCZ drive :)..

  7. a little help with this would be great..

Jake patched my DSDT so i dare say he would have already implemented the HDAU patch. what now the Azul FrameBuffer ???

Also for some reason the system is once again crashing after waking from sleep..  and i have made no changes to cause this. :(   do not understand why it was working fine for a week and then all of a sudden freeze and reboots after waking from sleep.

  8. 4 days in and no issues so this thread can be marked as resolved. :)

only issue i am still having is with HDMI audio and Audio in general being intermittently non functional and fresh boot requiring a restart to get audio working.

i will investigate these causes and post a new thread about it if necessary.

  9. Brilliant.. Updated to 10.11.4 and everything (including Sleep ) is fully functional.

booting of the OCZ Trion 100 500gb SSD and no kernel panics :)..

Although still early days yet only had 2 manual shutdown and restarts since the update to .4..

i will wait a day or two before declaring this a full success. But at the moment all is good. :)

  10. It's also probably worth checking if any new parameter was made available with that latest BIOS or if existing ones were possibly reset or

    modified.

If everything looks similar, try and rebuild your cache. If still KP, maybe you shoud revert to the older BIOS version. This being said, I've had no trouble when updating my E6440 BIOS from A05 to A08, then to A13 and A14 (this very day).

I think there is something fishy with your own build because I've personally tested (albeit remotely) a Clover installation on another member's E7440 and the laptop never displayed the issues you've encountered (for instance, it can run the VoodooPS2Controller without issue in 10.11.4).

Well i am starting to believe this as well now..

I started building OSX 10.11.1 on the e6440 using the OCX drive and that worked OK.. got to the setup stage where it asks to set up as a new Mac or restore from a backup or another Mac and that is where i left it.

after updating the e7440 BIOS i thought i would throw the OCX drive into the e7440, and low and behold it booted (in verbose mode) into the OCX drive no kernel panics.  I proceeded to restore the system from the LITEONIT SSD drive (still installed)  and all went well.

I mounted the EFI partitions of bothe the OCX and LITEONIT drives and copied the Clover and Boot Folders from the LITEONIT to the OCX. then shut down. I removed the LITEONIT SSD from the system and voila it booted from the OCX drive without KP (still in Verbose).

so i edited the clover config.plist file, removed the -v from the boot string, also checked other things and found the ASUSAICPUPM flag was set in Kernel and Kext Patches.. Since this is a Dell and not an ASUS i set this to No, saved the config.plist and rebooted..

The system booted normally (no Verbose) no kernel panics either.

Mind you it is still 10.11.1  But it is functional

Also no Recovery Partition created (No biggie as these are fairly useless anyway when you have a Clover USB Installer )

Next step Update to 10.11.4 and see what breaks...

  11. ok confirmed now that booting in Verbose mode and the system boots normally without cpus=1..

but if booting in non verbose mode, i get a Kernel Panic..

    tried verbose 2 ways,

    1) space bar in clover to boot in verbose.

    and

    2) -v boot flag in the boot string.

both will boot OSX normally without cpus=1 in the boot string.

not sure whats going on.  why would verbose boot work and non verbose give Kernel Panics.   Does not make sense....

  12. Just updated from A05 to A18 on the e7440 and it is giving me a kernel panic on each boot up unless i set CPUS=1..

    :(  Any help here appreciated.

Here is the Boot Log after a successful boot with CPUS=1..

Although it also booted OK with verbose mode Hmmm.  May have been a freak occurrence though.

  13. ok latest firmware is from September last year.. only purchased this drive new this week. so whilst it is possible it may be Old stock and have old firmware, it is unlikely... however i will download the management tool and check it anyway..

it does say that it has compatibility issues with MacBooks with Nvidia chipsets.. do not think that would apply to a pc with only Intel chips.. so it should function just fine at least on a RealMac.

  14. well i guess this SSD is not compatible at least during boot..

Thought i would try see if i can install OSX as a fresh install. No good.

Installations gets to second stage and freezes, no errors listed. And this is the SAME USB install i used to install on this laptop with the LITEONIT drive. So i know the Install USB works.

Maybe an additional kext is needed for this drive.. I do not know.

    Can anyone advise?

  15. Checked.. The new SSD is listed as
    #:                       TYPE NAME                    SIZE       IDENTIFIER[/size]
       0:      GUID_partition_scheme                        *480.1 GB   disk2
       1:                        EFI EFI                     209.7 MB   disk2s1
       2:                  Apple_HFS Work                    479.8 GB   disk2s2

the 120Gig mSATA is listed as
       #:                       TYPE NAME                    SIZE       IDENTIFIER
       0:      GUID_partition_scheme                        *128.0 GB   disk0
       1:                        EFI EFI                     209.7 MB   disk0s1
       2:          Apple_CoreStorage System                  127.2 GB   disk0s2
       3:                 Apple_Boot Recovery HD             650.0 MB   disk0s3

and yes it is weird it gives a SIMILAR KP to the VoodooPS2Controler.kext KP...

But it is replicable. soon as i boot with the new drive in i get a KP every time (unless i boot with CPUS=1)  remove the drive and it all works normally.. (with exception to sleep and HDMI Audio)..

starting to think something may be amiss in the DSDT also note a strange issue with USB drives..  for some reason they keep disconnecting then re-connecting.  (i get the drive was not ejected properly error popups every now and then) most notable when performing time machine backups.
