when booting with this SSD in the SATA bay, i get a KP every Boot. NOTE: it is being used as a second drive.. Still booting from the LITEON mSATA SSD..
Pull the drive out and system boots normally
plug the drive in after system has booted and all is OK (it's how i initialised and Formatted the Drive).. shut down and re-boot with drive still in and yup kernel panic..
Any clues ??
OCZ is part owned by Toshiba and Samsung.

Confirmed, no duplicate controllers of either the ApplePS2Controller or the VoodooPS2Controller.
I deleted the ApplePS2Controller from /L/E and ensured it was not in S/L/E..
Then i copied the VoodooPS2Controller to /L/E
Then repaired permissions and rebuilt caches (successfully).
and every time it boots, KP.. unless i boot with CPUS=1.. which i had to do to remove the VoodooPS2Controller and reinstate the ApplePS2Controller.
Maybe something on my ALPS touchpad that the VoodooPS2 controller does not work well with..
Here is a Kext Dump from my System info about all currently loaded Kexts.
kexts.pdf
Maybe if someone in the know has a looks and can tell me why that voodooPS2Controller will not work, possibly conflicting with another Kext. ALSO if there is a Kext loaded in there that should not be, or one that is missing, to enable my Sleep function to work as well as HDMI Audio.. it would be appreciated. -
tried that one Herve..
Panics on every boot on the E7440.. Went back to ApplePS2Controller.kext.. that at least keeps the system booting normally..
-
did you set hibernate mode in terminal?
yes i did.
did not fix the crash upon wake.
-
-
ok rebooted.. HDMI output (visual) is working again.. Still no HDMI Audio options in sound preferences..
Internal speakers working again after rebuilding cache.
Waking from sleep still causes KP and reboot...
Clover boot log attached bootlog.rtf
log is directly after wake from sleep auto reboot.
-
nevermind.. DCPImanager to the rescue... allowed me to repair permissions and rebuild cache...
-
i run commands from cli and get no replies just goes to next line for input

Try this DSDT. Remove SSDT and generate a new one for 10.11.4. Also remove OsxAptioFix2Drv-64.efi from Drivers64UEFI.
Reboot without cache, repair permission and rebuild cache.
Try HDMI audio again
Tried this.. System rebooted on boot up (no KP seen).. then it booted glitching the graphics and no sound at all now.
plugging HDMI and it does not output to the screen

DOH!!!!
I removed VoodooPS2Controller.kext from S/L/E and L/E but realised it was also being injected by Clover..
have now removed from EFI/Clover/Kexts/Others/
now to reboot and test

yes using a MBP retina SMBIOS..
I've attached my bootlog maybe something in there a trained eye can see that i can not..
need to solve HDMI audio and Sleep issue..
-
well tried out HDMI..
Initially would not detect display.. so unplugged and re-connected display.. and it detected it.. but still no HDMI Audio Option..
Maybe SMBIOS related.. What SMBIOS should I be using.. ??

what i'm curious about is no Kext being reported in the backtrace.. sure makes it hard to pin down the culprit.. also that some boots are ok whilst others give a KP. Seems almost Random.
that is what makes me think it is more to do with a memory or more precisely, a CPU cache referencing issue.
Apple may have changed the way it references CPU cache to throw off us Hack builders. a memory position that would exist on real Mac's but not exist on non Apple hardware.
-
hmm.. KP would be totally random is my guess.. you will sometimes be able to boot normally even after several KP's
i try booting 4 or five times normally before i resort to trying any boot flags like CPUS=1.. it will boot ok normally on second or 3rd reboot after KP.
But i am not getting any KP's on boot now... only on waking from sleep (wether forced sleep or timed sleep). I'll Try HDMI sound when i get home.

ok re-added in your DSDT.aml file.
Removed VoodooHDA.kext and the VoodooPS2Controller.kext.
Added the ApplePS2Controller.kext into /L/E
re-added the AppleHDA_ALC292.kext to /L/E (overwriting existing)
Rebuilt the Kext Caches
Booting issues resolved no more Kernel Panic on boot
still no HDMI output options in Preferences/sound - Have not plugged in to HDMI yet to see if they only appear when a HDMI device is connected.
Sleep is now broken.. I get a KP and reboot when laptop wakes from sleep. (no kext reported in backtrace)
-
hmm seems that dsdt has upset my system.. even with the original back in there. i am getting KP's on boot up again.
-
err did not go to well.
first boot KP no info given.
Second Boot KP but it quoted the VoodooHDA kext..
3 boot succeeded ok.. So should i be removing some kexts now???
Have not tested HDMI AudioNo HDMI audio options in sound preferences.. They have Vanished...In Interim, i will go back to my previous DSDT. -
thanks Jake, you saved me a few hours - well a days work (as i would need to wrap my head around the process of editing)..
I'll give it a try when i get home tonight after University. I'll let you know.
-
Yeah its the native dump so not yet patched.. only got around to decompiling the *.aml files. using the latest iasl binary
here is the origin folder with original aml files and corresponding dsl files. -

I assume you are taking about pokenguyen's Yosemite guide?
Patch with this. Afterward do a search for B0D3 and rename all to HDAU. Save file
# for HDMI audio into method label _WAK code_regex B0D3 replaceall_matched begin HDAU end; into definitionblock code_regex B0D3 replaceall_matched begin HDAU end; # inject "hda-gfx"="onboard-1" into HDAU (B0D3 originally) into method label _DSM parent_adr 0x00030000 remove_entry; into device name_adr 0x00030000 insert begin Method (_DSM, 4, NotSerialized)\n {\n If (LEqual (Arg2, Zero)) { Return (Buffer() { 0x03 } ) }\n Return (Package()\n {\n "layout-id", Buffer() { 12, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00 },\n "hda-gfx", Buffer() { "onboard-1" },\n })\n }\n end; into device label B0D3 set_label begin HDAU end; into method label SBCB code_regex B0D3 replaceall_matched begin HDAU end;
Yes Pokenguyen's yosemite guide.
do not have the time to sit down and go through the guide now, but i'll attempt it when i have a few hours to spare later on.
Hopefully patching the DSDT will also fix the intermittent Audio issue (sometimes audio not working at all (no device detected) and sometime works then stops after about 4 seconds)..
-
Honestly i can not remember.. it was patched almost 12 months ago when 10.11 first came out. so likely not as i used the Yosemite guide to patch it.. which was outdated at the time.. However i did make a fresh dump from clover last night. so if need be i can patch it..
is a guide available for 10.11.x? -
Hmm not overly concerned about trim.
Ok so why would HDMI audio not be working for me ???

here is the KP.. NOTE i can boot OK with CPUS=1 as well..
also the system does recognise the drive as you can see towards the end of the fault report.
