  1. Thank you, Herve for the explanation, and thank Jake too, I used Chameleon/Enoch 2795 to install the El Capitan. My D830 has T7700 so unfortunately falls into the Merom family. I did read your notes, probably I misunderstood the requirements. When you said that El Capitan is the end of the road, you also mentioned that it is possible to fake the profile, so I am confused if I could actually move ahead to install and run the Sierra or , or even High Sierra? or the fake profile trick will only work for Penryn CPU with MBP5,1 SMBIOS profile? thanks again!
  2. Is Clover Configurator the tool for changing the SMBios? I have never used this tool and not very comfortable to manually making changes on the configuration yet. Is there any good guide for this tool? thanks
  3. From Hervé's posts, it looks like it is OK to install High Sierra/Mojava/Catelina to a D630 machine. I am currently running El Capitan (10.11.6) in my D830, and I am trying to install the later versions. However, when trying to download High Sierra/Mojava/Catelina installer from the App store, it failed to start the download, but gave me a popup "We could not complete your purchase. This version of macOS 10.13.6 cannot be installed to this computer" So I would like to know how I can get the Install macOS High Sierra.app to build the USB installer? thanks
  4. Thanks Herve and Bronxteck... I compared the files with my ML installation and everything seems to be fine - nothing seems to be missing... I was finally able to get everything working by doing the following: 1. Re-formatthe HD 2. Install the Chameleon to the HD 3. Install the 10.9 to HD from the USB installer 4. Install the Chameleon again (strange) 5. Install the 10.9 Extra 6. Run myfix 7. Able to boot to Mav successfully without entering any flag! 8. Run the EDP to fix the sound That is all - everything works nicely... Thanks!!
  5. Hi, I had a working Mountain Lion running in my D830...Today I tried install a fresh copy of 10.9 to the machine, no bios changes were made, i.e. SATA mode was set AHCI. Using myHack 3.3 to create the USB installer, wiped out the HDD and installed the 10.9 to the same HDD with no issue. However, after the installation, I am unable to boot from the HDD, stuck in 'Still Waiting For Root Device'. I tried booting from a USB (with the 10.8.4) and run myhack to install the EXTRA (for 10.9) and run myfix to the HDD, still the same... Any idea? Thanks!
  6. Thank you very much Hervé, you are exactly right on the CPU speed issue! BTW, the USB bootable Backup also works now... Filesystem Size Used Avail Capacity iused ifree %iused Mounted on /dev/disk1s1 15Gi 12Gi 2.7Gi 82% 3201632 707988 82% / devfs 183Ki 183Ki 0Bi 100% 632 0 100% /dev /dev/disk0s2 233Gi 13Gi 220Gi 6% 3303903 57661763 5% /Volumes/OSX_ML map -hosts 0Bi 0Bi 0Bi 100% 0 0 100% /net map auto_home 0Bi 0Bi 0Bi 100% 0 0 100% /home
  7. I finally got the ML installed in my D830! I actually found out that I had the exact problem as another member"gbrown69" in this forum, where we are stuck right BEFORE the installation process begins. Like gbrown69, I tried all possible way with the myHack, tried 10.7, 10.8, and tried NVS 135, NVS 140, tried 1 partition and 2 partitions in the HDD, tried install to the USB thumb drive, tried all possible boot options, tried changing all the BIOS setting, etc, etc, but no luck....I am not sure if gbrown69 had solved his problem, and how... I end up using an iFail_ML2 DMG image to create another USB boot pen, and was able to install ML2 to the D830 successfully. However, I can only boot to Safe mode after the installation or I would get a black screen. Luckily I was able to boot using the myHack USB pen and run myFix from there. I then run the EDP after the machine booted normally...Everything seems to be fixed so I have a working Mountain Lion running in my OSXLatitude D830. Everything seems woking properly: DVD Writer Sound Video Ethernet WiFi (after replaced the Intel with Dell 1505) USB mouse (the trackpad works but hard to use) Sleep (perfect!) The only issues I have so far: 1. CPU speed showing 2.01 GHz instead of 2.2GHz 2. A bootable backup USB Pen created using SuperDuper! cannot boot - it will reboot the machine repeatedly. Any idea? Thanks!
  8. Thanks for looking into my problem! Yes, my D830 BIOS has been updated withe A16 and set to AHCI mode, and works fine under Win 7. Also, my HDD now only has 1 partition and selected the GPT/GUID mode. I also tried to install to another USB disk but got the same thing. I used myHack "Install Extra" and selected "My Own" and point it to the Extra folder (which was automatically created when I downloaded the bootpack for D830 (Dell_Latitude_D830-nvidia-ml.zip)
  9. First, I set the BIOS of my D830 according to the post in this forum. I also followed the instructions to create a USB OSX 10.8 INstaller, using myHack 3.1.2, and downloaded the ML 10.8.2 (Install OS X Mountain Lion.app), installed the bootpack for D830 Nvidia to the USB installer, run MyFix, and boot from the D830... I managed to get the Welcome screen, selected my new 250GB SATA HDD as target and formatted it as Mac OS Extended (Journaled). But it seems the installer crashed about 1 min after I clicked on the Install button, and the Log report would show me the following errors (I also attached the entire log below). I tried to set different boot options, and tried install using the generic extras, also tried the OSX 10.7.5, but all stuck at the same step, simply could not start the actually install process. BTW, my D830 video card is NVS 135, and I created the installer from a OSX 10.6.2 machine, if it matters... wonder if anybody had the similar experience and can point me to the right direction? 10. Hello I am from Texas USA. I have been playing with Hackintosh for about 6 month, and was able to get the SL (10.6.2)installed in a Dell Dimension 4100...Playing with Hackintosh is purely out of curiosity, as I was a Objective-C developer long time ago and now interested to do some iPhone app development lately. My SL cannot handle the latest xcode, and I happened to find this site, so I decided to install ML to my D830... I followed the instruction to created a USB installer, with myHack 3.1.2, in a new 16GB USB drive, formatted as GPT, 512-Byte-Blocks. I also set the BIOS according to the posts in this forum. Unfortunately, I am unable to boot from this USB installer - getting that boot0: GPT boot0: test boot0: error. Seems like most people getting this error only when they tried to boot from HDD with 4KB size...but why am I having this problem from USB installer? diskutil shows the USB drive info as: File System: HFS+ Type: hfs Name: Mac OS Extended Partition Type: Apple_HFX Bootable: Is bootable Total Size: 16.0 GB (31278896 512-byte-Blocks)
