  1. Well went through everything again, EFI drive never mounts.. I have followed every step to a T. Id hate to revert if I didnt have to the only thing thats not working is sound and the booting from internal disk. Other than that everything seems perfect... ( Wifi / QE / Bluetooth / etc )
  2. I cannot get the OS to load without the USB drive present, Still trying to iron this out. Ill try this again, Did it once but it didnt appear to work but I may have done something wrong.
  3. Just followed this guide to a T.. Ran into a small hiccup but was able to overcome with the dual link video.... I still appear to have a few problems maybe someone can help with. - Cannot get the laptop to boot from itself without the USB drive. Get dell bios message that its attempted to boot into EFI ( its on LEGACY in bios ) In the post install directions it states the EFI partition will mount and to copy files but the partition never appears so I run "diskutil list " verify there is an EFI partition then I run the following commands : [ mkdir /Volumes/efi ] [ sudo mount -t msdos /dev/disk0s1 /Volumes/efi ] Copy the EFI folder from the USB to the partition and finish the directions, Upon reboot it still only boots from USB and there is no sound or OSD. The remaining issues are : - NO Sound - NO OSD Everything else appears to be working on my machine ( E6220 ) Any help would be greatly appreciated you guys rock!, I know its early but hopefully soon there will be a bootpack for EDP
  4. Trying to fix a machine I moved from an Nvidia failed board to intel and need the correct boot pack. When I goto download it I get the kernel panic animation saying files missing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, DG
  5. Hey guys, Just wanted to share the final outcome of this issue I was having in case anyone else ever encounters it. It appears the video card was dying like some NVidia D630s are known to do.. After about a month it started flickering and then shutting down. I changed motherboards and now everything is working perfect.. Magically the OS only sees the one video card now and no software was changed, I simply swapped out motherboards and now it works perfect. I know its a strange one but atleast if its posted in the forums here and someone else has a similar issue they can search and validate a possible fix. Thanks Again!
  6. Awesome, Thanks bud I really appreciate it... This laptop does age well... This is going to be the wifes, Ive moved on to a E6220 which w/SSD which I love.

  8. I will def post asap, thanks.. Its xmas so just give me a few your dedication is awesome this site rocks.
  9. Hervé, Thanks for the reply, This is a standard myhack / osx lat EDP install. I am not sure what I am doing wrong lately.. I have done probably a good 20+ D630 OSX setups for friends and family following directions from this site and they have finished completely flawless not 1 error. The last 3 D630 laptops I have built within 2 months have been nothing but problems. This dual monitor issue / If I try to do EDP I get no permissions and have to repair permissions / run myfix then try re-applying edp which usually fails again and this just happens over and over. Has anything changed with the latest EDP? I am not sure why something that has worked so good for me in the all the sudden never wants to install correct. Any help is greatly appreciated, The support on this site is awesome.
  10. You guys ever see this? Ive searched and searched and found nothing except a work-around used SwitchRESx ( not what i wanna do ) Its so strange it thinks i have two monitors but I only have one. D630 - Nvidia So if I open a preferences window sometimes it can be dragged off the screen. Strange, Any insight or help would be greatly appreciated.
  11. Will run through the steps, Thanks for the confirmation.
  12. Not that I know of, Should I? Or should I follow the steps here ? http://www.osxlatitude.com/getting-osx-sleep-to-work-on-your-dell-latitude/
  13. Actually this is a Penryn, I think I got this working, But had to do a work around.. I removed the myhack.kext then reinstalled it with Kext Drop then ran myfix and now it appears everything is working as intended. Not sure why even with permissions repairs I still was unable to just use the standard edp method..as Ran EDP again and now it installed flawlessly without any errors but still one issue. Sleep is not working, If I close the lid and re-open it appears to re-boot, If I choose sleep it does the same thing, I have checked via terminal the hibernationmode = 0 / sleep = 0 / lidwake = 1
  14. Thanks, Ran repair it fixed a bunch of stuff I tried again and still " System Extension cannot be used " Do I have to reboot after the repair?
  15. Hey Guys, Is there any other issues with the latest EDP i should be aware of? I have built probably 20 D630's so I am aware on the process and what needs to be done in the bios as well as the wifi cards etc that are needed and I just cant get this latest D630 w/10.7 to function correctly. I started my install like normal and then once I get into the OS ( initial boot ) I apply the EDP, After this I cannot boot back into the computer. If I boot from the installer USB and run " Remove problematic KEXTS" Then I install the downloaded D630 Extra and reboot I can boot fine I have wifi and the accelerated video but no sound and no sleep or battery options etc. So then I download EDP, Update EDP, do the build for my laptop ( D630 / Nvidia ) Turn on the ACPI fix ( thinking this would do it after I found this post ) and then I start getting popups saying " system extension cannot be used over and over again ", Reboot and im back to square one having to remove kext, reinstall EXTRA etc Not sure why I am having issues this is usually painless, Any help would be greatly appreciated .
  16. If it means anything I really see almost no diff between Lion and ML, Just minor changes.
  17. Hello Katie, Using OSX Latitudes Guides with a MyHack Installer + EDP I have never had much of an issue ever. Download the Bootpack here : http://www.osxlatitude.com/edp/compatibility/ Create your MyHack USB Installer here: http://myhack.sojugarden.com/guide/ And when your done run EDP and pick your build : http://www.osxlatitude.com/edp/download/ This site has all the guides located on the main page http://www.osxlatitude.com/edp/documentation/pre-installation/ Best of luck! DG
  18. Has anyone gotten two finger scroll to work on these? Mine is an ALPS Panel if that matters. I did see there was a 2 finger scroll KEXT in EDP available in the drop down but when I rebuilt the package and re-aplied my machine was un-bootable and now its back working perfect on the previous config. Not a huge deal but would be nice Just found the VGA/HDMI post looking into that now plus SD Card. Man this thing is running great!
  19. Booting in like 15 seconds now Faster than my NON SSD Real iMac that has more specs. Very happy with the latest build. Thanks again.
  20. Cool, I will make them for other popular E series models... Anyones in particular.
  21. Could be a nice touch, I am going to do one for D620 / D630's and D420 / D430s as well and post. I like to give back in anyway for the hardwork you guys do.. Its small but its something
  22. I may have missed them but I Didn't see any of these created yet so I made one for my E6220 and would like to share with anyone else who may want to customize there OSX Latitude a little more. For all intensive purposes this was done on 10.8.3 This may work on other versions but research before trying. 1. Open Finder and goto /System/Library/CoreServices/. 2. Right-click on CoreTypes.bundle and select "Show Package Contents". 3. Continue to Contents/Resources/. 4. Backup the files you are going to replace, I just named the original ( .ORIG ) 5. Copy the new file into this folder. AUTHENTICATE 6. Your all done, Check About My Mac to see if it worked, You may have to reboot. Our E6220s appear to be presented as file - com.apple.macbookpro-17-unibody.icns To change the machine name & typical year listed below do the following : Navigate to /users/YOUR_USER_NAME/library/preferences/ Edit the file com.apple.systemprofiler.plist Thats it!!! All this info I grabbed from the web, Hope it can help someone. DG com.apple.macbookpro-17-unibody.icns.zip
