  1. Thanks, Ran repair it fixed a bunch of stuff I tried again and still " System Extension cannot be used " Do I have to reboot after the repair?
  2. Hey Guys, Is there any other issues with the latest EDP i should be aware of? I have built probably 20 D630's so I am aware on the process and what needs to be done in the bios as well as the wifi cards etc that are needed and I just cant get this latest D630 w/10.7 to function correctly. I started my install like normal and then once I get into the OS ( initial boot ) I apply the EDP, After this I cannot boot back into the computer. If I boot from the installer USB and run " Remove problematic KEXTS" Then I install the downloaded D630 Extra and reboot I can boot fine I have wifi and the accelerated video but no sound and no sleep or battery options etc. So then I download EDP, Update EDP, do the build for my laptop ( D630 / Nvidia ) Turn on the ACPI fix ( thinking this would do it after I found this post ) and then I start getting popups saying " system extension cannot be used over and over again ", Reboot and im back to square one having to remove kext, reinstall EXTRA etc Not sure why I am having issues this is usually painless, Any help would be greatly appreciated .
  3. If it means anything I really see almost no diff between Lion and ML, Just minor changes.
  4. Hello Katie, Using OSX Latitudes Guides with a MyHack Installer + EDP I have never had much of an issue ever. Download the Bootpack here : http://www.osxlatitude.com/edp/compatibility/ Create your MyHack USB Installer here: http://myhack.sojugarden.com/guide/ And when your done run EDP and pick your build : http://www.osxlatitude.com/edp/download/ This site has all the guides located on the main page http://www.osxlatitude.com/edp/documentation/pre-installation/ Best of luck! DG
  5. Has anyone gotten two finger scroll to work on these? Mine is an ALPS Panel if that matters. I did see there was a 2 finger scroll KEXT in EDP available in the drop down but when I rebuilt the package and re-aplied my machine was un-bootable and now its back working perfect on the previous config. Not a huge deal but would be nice Just found the VGA/HDMI post looking into that now plus SD Card. Man this thing is running great!
  6. Booting in like 15 seconds now Faster than my NON SSD Real iMac that has more specs. Very happy with the latest build. Thanks again.
  7. Cool, I will make them for other popular E series models... Anyones in particular.
  8. Could be a nice touch, I am going to do one for D620 / D630's and D420 / D430s as well and post. I like to give back in anyway for the hardwork you guys do.. Its small but its something
  9. I may have missed them but I Didn't see any of these created yet so I made one for my E6220 and would like to share with anyone else who may want to customize there OSX Latitude a little more. For all intensive purposes this was done on 10.8.3 This may work on other versions but research before trying. 1. Open Finder and goto /System/Library/CoreServices/. 2. Right-click on CoreTypes.bundle and select "Show Package Contents". 3. Continue to Contents/Resources/. 4. Backup the files you are going to replace, I just named the original ( .ORIG ) 5. Copy the new file into this folder. AUTHENTICATE 6. Your all done, Check About My Mac to see if it worked, You may have to reboot. Our E6220s appear to be presented as file - com.apple.macbookpro-17-unibody.icns To change the machine name & typical year listed below do the following : Navigate to /users/YOUR_USER_NAME/library/preferences/ Edit the file com.apple.systemprofiler.plist Thats it!!! All this info I grabbed from the web, Hope it can help someone. DG com.apple.macbookpro-17-unibody.icns.zip
  10. VOLUME = FIXED You guys are awesome, THANKS So much.. This machine is pretty much running flawless now with the help of this forum.
  11. Thanks for the info, I am very technical savvy and actually work for a software company so once I start learning the ins and outs of building Mac on non standard equipement it starts to make sense... So thanks a bunch!!! So are you saying to enable all those settings like DROP SSDT / C2 / C3 state? Im just running on a build from the docs on here using my hack, the bootpack and EDP. Thanks, BTW this thing is running so much better now, Instant off and boots in 20 seconds, working on volume issue now. It chirps the alerts when I put volume up or down but volume stays the same no matter where the slider is ( full blast ).
  12. Since reading your post I have done the following : Turned off -v Verbose ( dont need to see the text when not troubleshooting ) Slide Timeout to 0 quite boot ( only running osx for right now ) Made sure USB Bus Fix was off. Computer is now booting from bios screen to login prompt in 19 seconds!! ( HOOORAY ) Couldn't of done it without your help, My only questions now would be should I put that AppleACPIPlatform.kext file back to the original. Thanks again!
  13. I am using Myhack, I just tried that as a test ( was desperate ) I can put the standard My hack file back in its place run my fix and reboot. Here is a shot from Cham Wizard ( USB FIX ) was enabled I disabled. Im booting in 30 seconds now. Should I put back the original AppleACPIPlatform.kext then run Cham wizard and make sure kernal cache and usb fix are correct? I can put that file back to normal and troubleshoot from there. I would love to keep this vanilla as possible to the standards you guys follow to avoid future issues. What I did ( again im new so it maybe wrong ) Removed the AppleACPIPlatform.kext file manually ( RENAMED ) Used a utility called Kext Drop and dropped in the other one, ran Myhack to run MyFix then rebooted and instantly I went from 3min to 30 seconds.. Now again this maybe a hack way I can return it to the original file and then begin with Chameleon Wizard which seems cleaner.
  14. Hey Guys, I will look into all your suggestions and report back asap, As of now the only thing I tried diff was Delete AppleACPIPlatform.kext and install with the one from Lion. Use Kext Utility to repair permission and rebuld kernel cache before reboot. Now I still have to hit enter at the loader twice or ill sit waiting for that bar to go down to nothing but if I double tap enter boots in 30 seconds flat. Going to check into the stuff above and report back. Thanks
  15. Hey Guys, Sorry to be a pain, Still trying to fine tune my machine and now everything application wise is running and running smooth. 2 things I cant figure out for the life of me still are : Why does my machine take forever to boot? It literally takes 3 minutes to from bios to login screen. When running Windows 7 it took 15 seconds and even my other D630 only takes 52 seconds to get to the login screen and its runnnig a standard hard drive & a way less beefier config. D630 Config - Boots 10.7 in 52 seconds to login screen. 250GB WD Blue 2.5 drive 4GB Ram 2.4GHZ Core2Duo E6220 - Boots 10.8 in 3 mins 5 seconds to login screen 120GB Mushkin Chronos SSD w/Trim ( one of the fastest SSD's ) 8GB Ram 2.5GHZ Core i5 I found this post that maybe talking about my issue but maybe there is a better way. http://www.tonycrapx86.com/mountain-lion-desktop-support/65106-mountain-lion-slow-boot-up-time-2.html Attempted the steps in post one and now im booting 30 seconds if I click enter at the loader screen... If I dont click enter that little bar will slowly disappear after a while and start on its own. It appears I made some progress hoping its just some newbie stuff im missing and I didnt mess anything up. Would love it to boot fast and the correct way ( if the work-around I did is not a good choice. ). Thanks again guys, DG
  16. UPDATE - Got it to work, What I had to do is... 1 - Install EDP ( but dont run ) 2 - Reboot 3 - Run edptool.command from the /Extra folder. 4 - Reboot Now it appears everything is installed and working, Sweet.. Now running on 10.8.3 ( waiting on 10.8.4 based on what ive read ).
  17. Cool I will give that a try, Thanks!
  18. So I finally was looking to replace my D630 which worked like a champ for so long, I picked up a fully supported E6220 and figured hmm mines well give 10.8 a go. Not sure if its the new laptop, the version of EDP or Mountain Lion.. I install with My Hack + the appropriate bootpack and it boots right up as expected and like my other D630 builds. After this I typically run and download EDP, Do my build and away i go to do all the Apple updates. Well I can never get past the EDP install, In the past as EDP is installing I see my battery icon appear and various other things start working until it finally completes and im golden. I know there was issues with it the last few days but today a new version was released and it loaded fine, But it seems like when I do the E6220 build it completes really fast and nothing is loaded. Once I reboot im left with a bricked system that says : Mac OS version : Not yet set Now the only way I know to fix it is to run the MyHack installer and reinstall the EXTRA from the bootpack. Am I doing something wrong? With Lion I never had an issue in 15 builds this one is driving me over the edge hahah, Any help would be greatly appreciated, In the mean time I am continuing my research on these forums and possibly re-try with Lion. Thanks, DG
  19. Awesome!!! Hope my message wasnt taken as a complaint either, You guys do great work and this community is awesome. We are all very thankful.
  20. It would be nice if the old version was still available. Maybe a previous version section can be made, If that was there I would be fine right now instead of a unusable laptop... Im not really complaining you guys do a hell of a job just a suggestion.
