Ugh . . . OK . . . well thank you for trying. I will figure out what I want to do at some point . . . but both of those options aren't ideal. Appreciate all the help. Guess it's true what they say . . . the best laptop for OSX is . . . . a MacBook.

One additional thing. Every time my laptop goes to sleep now, I can't get it back on without shutting it down.

Good news/bad news. I followed the guide and the good news is that I can preview my Screen Saver in the Display preferences now and it looks like my monitor is getting 1600 X 900 resolution. The bad news is that I still do not have an option to use my second monitor. The actual Screen Saver doesn't come up when I click on Preview, but I can preview it in the System Preferences when I select a Screen Saver. And now when I try to toggle using Fn+F8 on my laptop keyboard, the monitor goes dark and doesn't switch to my laptop. I couldn't switch it back to the monitor either. I had to reboot to get it back. In "About This Mac" it still shows "Display 64 MB of Shared System Memory" under Graphics and the System Report still shows Display: Type: GPU Bus: Built-In VRAM (Total): 64 MB of Shared System Memory Vendor: Intel (0x8086) Device ID: 0x0046 Revision ID: 0x0002 Displays: Display: Resolution: 1600 x 900 Pixel Depth: 32-Bit Color (ARGB8888) Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes

No. I don't see the preview for the Screen Saver. Funny thing that I was trying to use that yesterday and noticed that the preview was not working.

It says "Display 64 MB of Shared System Memory" under About This Mac. And when I go to the System Report it gives me this: Display: Type: GPU Bus: Built-In VRAM (Total): 64 MB of Shared System Memory Vendor: Intel (0x8086) Device ID: 0x0046 Revision ID: 0x0002 Displays: Display: Resolution: 1440 x 900 Pixel Depth: 32-Bit Color (ARGB8888) Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes Looks like that's pretty generic and it's recognizing the card, but not the brand, model, etc. Does that help? Or do you need more info than that?

Don't apologize. I'm just glad you're helping me out since I seem to have no clue what the heck I'm doing! I just tried what you suggested and got some interesting results. When I restarted with one monitor (DVI1) plugged in, my laptop screen came on, but the one monitor did not (DVI1). However, I tried the Fn+F8, which lets you toggle between the laptop screen and the monitor. The laptop screen went off and the monitor came on. I toggled it again and it went back to the laptop screen and the monitor went off. Next, just for kicks, I plugged in the second monitor (DVI2), toggled it again and this time it went to the second monitor (DVI2). I toggled using Fn+F8 again and it went back to the laptop. I toggled it one more time and it went back to the second monitor (DVI2). Both monitors were plugged in at this point. Finally, I tried one more thing. I unplugged the second monitor (DVI2) and plugged it into VGA. This time I could toggle using Fn+F8 through the laptop screen, the first monitor (DVI1) and the second monitor (VGA). However, none of them were on at the same time. And accessing System Preferences -> Displays still showed only one monitor available.

OK, I tried something new with my DVI ports. Let's call them DVI1 and DVI2 and they are connected to Monitor1 and Monitor2 (identical models) respectively in a docking station. I plugged in DVI1 and booted my E6410. Obviously, Monitor1 came on. Then I tried plugging in DVI2 and still nothing. I shutdown and this time plugged in DVI2 and booted my E6410. This time Monitor2 came on. I tried plugging in DVI1, but Monitor1 did not come on. Any thoughts on that? Does that mean that the hackintosh can only see one monitor at a time? And the resolution still won't adjust. Seems like I've tried a lot of different combinations with Chameleon Wizard with the same results. Maybe there's a combination I'm not trying? Thanks for all the help so far! Hopefully I can get this working soon!

This was a Windows 7 machine and was working on both displays with Windows. I had the second monitor connected via DVI only to start. Then I tried VGA. Neither worked. Also, I just checked the bdmesg section in Chameleon Wizard and I noticed this: Read HFS+ file: [hd(0,2)/Extra/modules/._Keylayout.dylib] 177 bytes. I looked at the Modules section in the Chameleon Wizard this morning. Resolution.dylib is already checked. Any other ideas?

It is working on one screen. It's just not detecting the second screen for some reason. Not sure why. I have the laptop closed, in a docking station with both monitors plugged into the DVI ports (there are two on this docking station). I also tried one DVI port for the one monitor that displays already, and one VGA port for the second monitor that wasn't displaying with the second DVI port. It only displayed to the DVI port monitor as well.

The lid is closed. It's in my docking station for the E6410 and the lid is closed. Is there anything else I need to do? I would imagine the laptop display turns off when I close the lid, but who knows. I'll check that on Monday when I get into the office. Thanks!

Does anyone have any experience with using dual monitors using the E6410 on Intel graphics? I have two Dell P2210s and I'm trying to get both monitors working. It seems only one of them works. My E6410 is in a docking station which has two DVI ports and one VGA port. I have tried using both DVI ports as well as using one DVI port and one VGA port. The second monitor is not detected. When I go to System Preferences -> Displays, only one monitor shows there. Also, secondary to that topic is the display resolution. Is there a way to set the display resolution to 1680 X 1050? I tried editing the org.chameleon.Boot.plist file in the /Extra folder. The best I could get so far is 1440 X 900. I used this setting: <key>Graphics Mode</key> <string>1440x900x32</string> When I set it to something higher, the resolution doesn't seem to change -- even after rebooting and setting it in the System Preferences. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

Need some more help. I believe I'm past the monitor resolution issue. Looks like I am at the max resolution on my monitor. Although my previous OS supported larger resolutions with this monitor. I'm having a minor issue switching my user icon. It's not a big deal, but every time I try to change it (either in the Messages, Users & Groups, or Contacts apps) it crashes the app. I tried looking through the Console app to see if I could decipher anything, but nothing stands out. Anyone else having this same issue? Luckily I like football, but I really don't want that as my user icon if I can help it.
