There is no such option in the bios, checked it thoroughly. Only Two USB options 1- Emulation and 2- USB wake no other option relating to the speed. Any other ideas?

I recently got my D830 repaired. The issue was that at times the machine just did not power on and had to take battery and charger cable out and leave it for few minutes and than try my luck with it. But since than it developed a new issue, and that is of USB transfer rate. D830 had 2.0 ports but now all three ports are behaving as 1.0 with extremely slow transfer rates. Any suggestions guy.

One thing that I never used on my D830 was actually its mic but today when I tried to use it over skype I was unable to say any thing because there is a lot of noise, some thing like very loud static noise which is mixed with sound from the mic. It was pretty loud I must say, this is the first time I am using that.

I am listing the complete details of how the EDP 1.9 is running on my D830 Intel machine. I did a fresh install and here are the results: 1- WiFi, Audio, Graphic Display (1280x800), Keyboard & Trackpad working fine. 2- Audio delay is negligible. 3- Extended display works best when the VGA cable is attached as the system is being booted. 4- As with EDP 1.8 the normal operating temperatures for my D830 were plus 55 C and above. Now they stay below 50 degrees some time below 40 degrees as well, so yes the machine is operating at lower temperatures. 5- Sleep is not working, Wiki instructions are of no help as sleep remains disabled. Instead when the sleep function is choosen from menu or lid is closed the only thing that happens is screen getting black. The power light stays ON and stable, thus no breathing. Opening the lid or pressing the power button does not bring the display back. Update1: Sleep issue resolved, rebuilt the Kexts, using EDP tool, selected Applepower management instead of NullCPU as advised by Bronx. Update2: As expected after removal of NullCPU the running temperatures are higher as compared to with NullCPU installed.

That would be a great help.

Yes, you are 100% correct about smbios.plist is what defines the information. As for the most part I stay out of plists because of my lack of understanding of how different strings could affect the operations. But I decided to compare one from my SL running EDP1.8 with SL running EDP1.9 and Lion running EDP 1.9. I kind a figured that one out. I have restored the 3.1 macbook smbios.plist as it was the one running the best.

Welcome Carlo, simplest solution to the sound problem after wake from sleep just press the hardware mute button first to mute the system then again to unmute it. Should restore the sound.

Actually I have been getting roughly the same amount of KP's with the VoodooHDA 2.2.1 as you did, plus a bit of HSSSSSSSSS noise from time to time. I did installed Soundflower on Lion but right now I am not facing any problems with sound delay so the app is inactive. I am replacing the VoodooHDA kext with the one you pointed me to, so lets see how the results come. By the way any idea on how to resolve the FakeSMC issue.

I went on to reinstall the Lion, I choose EDP option for Intel D830, well things did not work well. For the most part I was getting a KP regarding VoodooHDA. I logged back in SL and replaced the Extra folder with the one on install USB, reinstalled EDP but this time choose D630 X3100 build. Walla every thing is working fine. But I do thing I need to update my ram from 3 to 4 gb as the performance seems to be a bit sluggish not by a lot but still can feel it. Yes one thing more I installed Broadcom43XXFamilyrev2 kext to S/L/E, WiFi is working great as well. I installed Macbook Pro 4.1 FakeSMC but I am still seeing macbook rather then macbook pro in my system profile.

No I did not.

The only thing I see are Headphone (Black Left), not the internal speakers. By the way I am using VoodooHDA 2.2 placed in Lion/System/LIbrary/Extensions folder. Here is a screen shot of my prefpane for sound

Well that solved the WiFi issue, now its fully functional actually I am having a feeling its working better then SL, as the youtube streaming in HD is not lagging at all, but now there is a new issue. I can hear the sound in iTunes but no sound when use browser to view Youtube. Any suggestions.

My adapter is BCM 4311 Revision2. I had already rebrabded it but so far I have not been able to get WiFi working on Lion. Its working perfect on SnowLeopard, I rarely use ethernet in any case the only thing stopping me from using Lion is actually the WiFi, not to mention startup and shutdown times are quite long as well.

Reports on overall performance and hardware compatibility

I got a 3gig ram on my system, and after a custom DSDT I can say I did not found Lion lagging in any way, Got sound, trakcpad, keyboard working but still no WiFi, waiting for a solution on that. -
@Leon, I removed the Extra folder along with Extensions on S/L/E and then did a fresh EDP install, selected option 10. i.e. build for D830 Intel. I think it was some sort of conflict between previously installed kexts and the newer versions, plus I read some where at forum that from time to time people have this issue, but a fresh installed resolved it. Every thing working fine except for the sleep function. Sleep does not work neither by closing the lid or selecting sleep from menu. The screen goes black but the activity and power remains on. I did try the Sleep guide from WIki still wont work.

So this means still no WiFi

I had been just able to install Lion on D830 using myhack and latest EDP 1.9. Trackpad, keyboard, sound all working. The thing is there is no wifi available, ethernet is visible but strangely I can see ethernet connected with an ip address showing when there is no ethernet cable plugged in. ANy ideas, a screenshot is attached below.

@zeppo I got a working USB with myhack and was able to install Lion on a partitioned drive with GUID tabel. I have over 5 partition of my 500gb hard drive, I honestly can not install only lion on my drive, reason being I got SL a back up copy of SL, Win7, Lion and a Gateway drive. Using EDP 1.9 I was able to get trackpad, keyboard, sound and ethernet working but no WiFi, any suggestions. By the way I found a bit of lagging with the graphics.

Hi, No one here uses iFail or any other altered OSX installation methods to run SL on their machines instead we use generic SL along with the EDP (Extra Driver Packages) to run SL, further more thanks to the flexibility of EDP installing new updates is safe and easy. I would recommend you head on to the Wiki and give it a good read, every thing you need to prepare a bootable USB installer is there. You can find further guidance in the support section specifically dedicated to D 6xxx section, there are a lot of users of D6xxx series.

Great work guys. Here is some feed back and issues I encountered. When selecting D830 intel graphic option, after the reboot there is no keyboard, track pad working. Plus the resolution drops down to 1024 x 768. Further the processor speed drops down to 1.81 ghz, which could be resolved by replacing the boot file on root with Anvail 1.5. The best option as before on Intel D830 is to choose option no. 6 i.e. D630 with Intel X3100 graphic injection. Machine runs smooth as ever. WiFi Issue Another bug I just noticed when I tried to connect to a wi-fi network. It is showing the Airport in System preferences but I am unable to detect or scan any available networks, left aside connecting with them. Solution: I reinstalled the IONetworkingFamily.kext using kext wizard from the previous EDP i.e. 1.8. The wifi is fully functional and working.

I have a intel D830 and so far all my attempts to install Lion on it are fruitless. It would be nice if you could elaborate or should I say simplify the process above. I searched tonycrapx blog, his method of update is not working for me. When I try to launch the Lion.app directly it does not launch, I have to enter the Content>Shared Resources folder and manually select the InstallESD.dmg, once that is mounted the installer opens but quits by saying Lion can not be installed on this system. Any ideas why?

yes that is from where I copied it
-
@Bronxteck I copied the mach_kernel to the root folder, but now I am getting a KP, saying kernel mismatch.
-
So here is the deal, I followed the guide, prepared the USB as directed in the insanelymac tutorial but stopped short of installing Extra package, instead used the one provided by simenoff, run the kexthelper repaired permissions, installed chameleon. But once I reboot and try to choose the USB from the boot menu it gives me Cant find mach kernel error and brings me back to HD selection menu. Any ideas guys what could be the reason. I followed the guide to the letter.

It just wont work, if you clone it things will just mess up. Just in case you have messed up things just press "Fn+CRT/LCD (F8)" button the display will return, extended that is.
