  1. Hello. I have had a Hackintosh (Snow Leopard) D630 1280 x 800 intel laptop for about 4-5 months now, and it runs really well. I am contemplating upgrading to Lion, but I have a few general questions first: 1. Is Lion unstable in any way on D630? 2. Is performance better with Lion as opposed to Snow Leopard? 3. How can I keep all my files/apps when upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion? Thanks.
  2. Now that I have fully functioning d630 hackintosh, I was wondering if it was fully compatible with software updates that come from apple. I got notification about some optional updates: -Security Update 2013-003 -AirPort Utility -Apple Software Installer Update -Remote Desktop Client Update Can I update these things without anything blowing up ? Should I be worried about installing certain apps or software? Or is my computer 100% compatible with everything that a mac running 10.6.8 is?
  3. Not to sound completely helpless but could you direct me to where I can find a kext sound driver for d630 snow leopard? And also the process to get this kext installed? I don't want to carelessly install something and ruin what I've spent so much time trying to get to work
  4. Spoke too soon... the sound does not work even after all that. Flash videos have no sound, and iTunes will not start any songs. How can I fix this?
  5. Ah, my bad. Looked at the wrong post I think. Ok I found it and deleted it, I then did a myFix like Bronxteck indicated. I am very pleased to say that my d630 booted into Snow Leopard 10.6.8 with no more issues . Thank you both for being so dedicated and helping me out. Cheers!
  6. So I booted fine into desktop with -x. But there is no "VoodooHDA.kext" in Extra/Extensions . I rebooted normally just to make sure, and it still gives the exact same kernel panic, mentioning VoodooHDA.kext. However there is VoodooBattery, VoodooTSCSync and VoodooPState (which I assume has nothing to do with the problem but letting you know anyway). Also under "/" volume, there are the folders: backup, Backup Extensions, Extra.backup.24-08-13.00-09 and ExtraBackups. Maybe these aren't supposed to be there? Again I have no idea, but the kernel panic definitely still says "VoodooHDA" and the "dependency: com.apple" stuff.
  7. Hmm, I did this and I got the exact same kernel panic.
  8. I made sure to get myHack 3.1.2 because I wanted to follow the exact same process. I did everything in this order: 1. copy the DSDT file to /Extra 2. Run myHack 3.1.2 and: 3. Install Extra, used volume "/", chose "choose my own" then I selected the extra folder from the bootpack. 4. When it says done, I then run myHack utilities 5. Run EDP package to install it, then go to config, and select builds from database or something like that. Then I choose dell, latitude, D630 1200x800. Build. 6. Run and apply 10.6.8 Combo Update. Then it finishes, says restart. I click restart, and then after the OSXLatitude loading screen, I get this kernel panic: http://i.imgur.com/bC04GRK.jpg
  9. Thanks for the patience and all your help. I managed to make it all the way through to the 10.6.8 combo update (installed extra with myHack, ran myHack utilities, and installed EDP). I have no problems and it even installs the combo update. But when I restart after that, I get a kernel panic and can't use the computer.
  10. IT IS FINALLY INSTALLING! THANK YOU SO MUCH YOU ARE A SAVIOR! I had to re-download ModCD image and burn it again. Ok a few more questions: 1. What do you mean "interrupt bootstrap and specify boot option GraphicsEnabler=No" ? Does this mean I should boot with ModCD again after installation and type in GraphicsEnabler=No and enter on my partition? 2. Is there a way to install EDP without reinstalling OSX via USB with myHack? Or do I have to use the USB and everything and install again?
  11. Still not working...I tried my friend's 10.6.3 retail DVD (did NOT come with Mac), and it had the same result. I'm not sure what the wireless card is, it is inside the laptop (integrated I think). Should I disable WiFi in Bios or not? Before it gets to the ModCD screen where you switch to SL DVD, it says "Reading ramdisk image: /Extra/Preboot.dmgError parsing plist file. Maybe this is the problem?
  12. This is a retail 10.6.0 SL DVD. Also, all my Bios setting match with the pinned post, so that wasn't the problem. I tried booting by default, booting with -v, booting with -x, and booting with mach_kernel. Results: For each boot, it always says "Errors encountered while starting up the computer. Pausing 5 seconds". Then it gives a summary, and says "Press q to continue." With mach_kernel, after I press q, it gets stuck at "AirPort: Link Down on en1. Reason 1 (Unspecified)." If I boot with -x, after I press 'q', the laptop reboots. If I boot with -v, after I press 'q', the laptop reboots. If I boot by default without any boot flags, after I press 'q', the laptop reboots. Any ideas?
  13. Besides changing ATA to AHCI, is there anything else I need to do in Bios?
  14. I burned ModCD to a CD and tried booting with mach_kernel (didn't work). Then I tried -v (gave errors then rebooted). Then I tried -x (went through all the kexts, then gave a description of what happened, then rebooted). Didn't even make it to the Apple logo this time.
  15. I've been looking all day for a guide to installing Snow Leopard onto my d630. I DO NOT HAVE NVIDIA, it is the intel graphics 1200x800 model d630 with Intel Core 2 Duo. I also do not have access to another system with OSX already on it, so I haven't been able to follow the official guide on this site. I have the Snow Leopard Retail disk, and I even tried using iboot (chameleon, stolen and rebranded) and following a guide on tonycrapx86. Nothing has worked....I have used countless bootflags, and none of them let me get to the install screen. My other computer has Windows 8 so I can't do any of the "Disk Utility" stuff. Can someone please help me get OSX installed on my machine? Thanks. This is getting really frustrating. Here's what happens with every install attempt: - I put in iboot (chameleon, stolen and rebranded) - I switch to the Snow Leopard Disk - F5, Press enter, bam - Apple logo (sometimes with the spinning loader on the bottom, sometimes not) - After about 20 seconds, the computer screen either: Freezes, goes entirely black, or goes entirely white. Any help would be hugely appreciated.
