Hi - sorry to bug you - did you mean PM the codec dump or post it? Also - I removed HDAEnabler (the patched AppleHDA doesn't work without it) and installed an ALC269 kext from InsanelyMac (which links back to your patching thread as the source) - the onboard mic still doesn't work but now in System Information, it lists Internal Microphone, Line Input, Headphone and HDMI/Display Port output - so as soon as I can plug in an external mic and HDMI to the TV I'll test to see if they work. sem update:nope - hdmi out works fine but no hdmi audio.

Brilliant! Thanks for that. I did read somewhere by the guy that did HDAEnabler that iMac's tend to have two power states - idle and full - that would explain why when using iMac 13,1 we go from 1.2 GHz up to 2.96 GHz. One question though when matching specs, doing so with an iMac would be tricky anyway, right because they use many mobile parts? For example, I've got a Gigabyte GA-H55M-UD2H board, i5-760 cpu and currently run an ATI 5570 VGA card. So looking at EveryMac.com, the iMac 13,1 or the MacPro 5,1 seem closest specwise - but what would you prioritise when assessing how close the specs are? thanks again, sem.

Another update - changed to Mac Pro 3,1 smbios from CHameleon Wizard, rebooted, About This Mac still shows i5 @ 2.8 GHz but now HWmonitor shows cpu cycling with multipliers ranging from 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 and finally 22. So the CPU frequency appears to be stepping - however, I thought that self and auto generated P and C states would be 1600 for a Desktop cpu and going down to 1200 for a mobile CPU only? sem

Weird - I installed latest Chameleon instead of chimera (chameleon, stolen and rebranded), tried regenerating SSDT etc. reset the motherboard bios to defaults - no difference. Multiplier goes from x9 to x16 max yet About this Mac shows i5 at 2.93 GHz. Then, I dropped the SSDT from /Extra, changed org.chameleon.boot.plist to Generate P and C states and removed the DropSSDT key. Rebooted. About this Mac showed i5 @ 2.80 GHz then HWMonitor shows CPU idle at 1.2GHz (x9 multiplier) jumping to 2.93 GHz (22 multiplier) Only two states but it idles with no load at 1.2 GHz - i can also see the voltage changing from 0.93v to 1.02v under load. Does this sound about right? For a non sandy bridge CPU would CHameleon only generate two SpeedStepping states? Is this something that a patched AppleItelCPUPowermanagement kext would fix? thanks, sem

Hi. Since getting CPU power management working on my Acer v5-171, i went back to the desktop that's been running Mountain Lion since day 1. At boot and in about this mac, cpu is reported as i5 running at 2.93 GHz. Installed new FakeSMC and HWmonitor because I always thought the machine could be a bit sluggish. Suspicions are confirmed by the cpu frequencies. I was using Generate P states and C states in org.chameleon.boot.plist but HW monitor shows two states - 1.2GHz idle and 2.13 GHz at load. Doesn't matter how many things I run it never goes above 2.13 GHz. Intel specs show the i5-760 should have turbo of 3.33 GHz. I'm using chameleon wizard iMac 11,3 smbios.plist which matched my i5-760 CPU and ati video card. I tried using ssdtPRGen and put in max frequency as 3330 and TDP of 95w (from the intel specs). I have an Acer V5-171 model 33216G50ass Current status: Reports as Ivy Bridge / Sandy Bridge when booting from Chameleon with -v Mountain Lion 10.8.4 installed and working using unifail for the USB install and a Kext bundle containing DSDT from the TM forums. Chameleon bootloader needs manually copying because advanced format 4k drive. Self generated SSDT, speedstep works, cycling from 1.2 to 1.8 GHz as required. Using Macbook Air 5,2 smbios.plist. Onboard HD4000 works with either a DSDT edit or an EFI injection - full acceleration ok - GraphicsEnabler=yes doesn't work as the video ram is hardcoded in the bios to 128M. Cannot be changed without a patched bios. Onboard WIFI/BT combo did not work. Swapped out for Atheros AR5B93 from Ebay and now detected as Airport without modification. Webcam works. Sleep works. All in all, a really solid hack book. However, I want to be able to create a custom DSDT (and learn more about it) and get HDMI audio working. It would be great to get some pointers (if posting on this forum is ok for that?) and maybe get the model added to EDP so that others have an easier time of installing OSX. Am more than happy to Alpha/Beta test as this is an experimental laptop. Attached is a clean DSDT extracted from Ubuntu LIve CD. I applied some patches for Ivy Bridge laptops and although the laptop boots fine, it freezes after 60 seconds requiring a reboot. I have attached that DSDT too. Hi - 10.8.5 is proving a headache - looks like a constant KP related to CPUPowerManagement and or ACPI. I went back to a clean 10.8.4 build and everything is smooth - and the touchpad driver performs brilliantly Thank you!

Here we go: I'm currently using 10.8.4 - the laptop has an HD4000 in it - is HDMI audio related to the audio hardware or is that down to DSDT? HDMI audio doesn't work at the moment - using my current AppleHDA it doesn't show as an output. Using VoodooHDA 2.83, it shows but is silent. Hi. Thanks for the reply. I'm going to do a "clean" update from virgin 10.8.1 direct to 10.8.5. I'll reapply your driver and send the log if it still gives trouble and I've eliminated the extra "essential" kexts for the particular laptop. If that's ok with you? Thanks.

Follow up. 10.8.4 using v2.8.3 now hanging at boot "waiting for keyboard input stream". Loads to desktop eventually but keyboard doesn't work. sem * Edit (16/09/13) Got 10.8.5 installed perfectly by removing GenericUSBHCXI.kext before installing and booting off the install USB and repairing disk permissions. Touchpad works but 2.8.3 gives repeated: ApplePS2Controller: Timed out on keyboard input stream ApplePS2Keyboard: probe failed, retry ... It retries 5 times then moves on. So keyboard doesn't work. * Edit 2 (16/09/13) Clearing the kernel cache seems to have fixed the issue. I used Onyx to do this. Sorry for the lengthy post. * Edit 3 (16/09/13) Spoke too soon. Still not booting with ps2 enabled keyboard. Don't know whether it is a problem with 10.8.5 though. Seem to be a lot of users with issues post upgrade. Has 2.83 been tested on 10.8.5 yet?

Had a 10.8.4 Acer V5-171 notebook working perfectly with V2.8.3 of the driver. Updated to 10.8.5 yesterday and reapplied all kexts. Machine wouldn't boot. AppleACPIPlatform seemed the issue. Resolved this and booted from a USB and ApplePS2Controller gave issue at boot - waiting to initialise device. It eventually gives up and boots to desktop. Keyboard doesn't work then. Hi EMlyDinEsH Really appreciate your cool work on Elan trackpads etc. It's ace! I have an Acer V5-171 that is running as an almost perfect hackbook. I have a patched AppleHDA kext and it works apart from the internal mike. This guy https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/2551-internal-mic-not-working/ has been posting on forums with the same machine - did you ever find time to check what the issue was with his laptop configuration? It's the same model as mine (I think) hence the interest. ** Update ** I downloaded an ALC269 kext from OSX86. It showed a sound output device but no audio plays (speakers or headphones). However, the internal mic works! Is there a way to take the working mic definition from that text and patch it into the otherwise fully working kext I was using? cheers, sem
