  1. Found the fix for Wifi - needed the IOFamily kext for this machine - this is working. Got EDP installed and configured. Rebooting and testing - will update again tomorrow with any new finds, but so far it looks great! Nice job on this!
  2. Got the D630 booted with this Extra package posted on the first post. The install failed as expected. I didn't have to use a USB Keyboard/mouse although most people here did. The few things I noticed: 1) Wifi isn't working at all (any fixes for this?) 2) Scrolling works but is super sensitive, also if I push down too hard on the trackpad it stops working (probably because it thinks I am scrolling) 3) I can't get EDP installed (because it needs internet access) It boots up pretty fast, and I have noticed some of the shutdown issues mentioned here before. Everything else looks pretty smooth so far, any help wrapping up the internet issue would be helpful! Thanks!! This is on a D630 Nvidia 4 gigs of RAM
  3. Nevermind - it looks like this is working. 3rd times a charm!
  4. Awesome post! Everything is going well, the USB boots quickly but then during the installation, after I finish answering the myHack questions the machine freezes with "About a minute" for time remaining. No mouse, no keyboard - just sits there. It did it last night while I was playing around with it so I let it hang out for a bit, but then rebooted and it failed to come up at all (just froze) - so I tried again this morning with the same results. Any thoughts on this one?
  5. Hey guys - I was updating my machine the other day and dual booting it with windows 7, so downloading drivers and what not for the video on Dell's website, and ran across a bios update! I saw they released A18 on 1/6/2012 and was curious to see if anyone had tried this yet. I have had bad luck in the past with the D630 dsdt patched bios so I'm sticking to Dell's standard right now, but just seeing if anyone was using that and saw any updates or if this is something to stay away from.
  6. Hey Kill_mark, on page 8 I posted I think about it - I would use terminal to backup the original IO80211Family.kext and then use something like kexthelper to install the kext from that same post. If you need the file, let me know I can email it to you. once you boot, you will need to open network preferences and name the device.
  7. Is there confirmed success with 10.7.2 on the D630?
  8. Where did you get this guide from? I had some good success my D630 but did this: I would first start by getting the usual downloads and setting up your USB installer. *myHack works great, get this Then you will just want to follow the wiki starting with these three tips: *http://www.osxlatitude.com/lion/ *EDP: http://www.osxlatitude.com/edp/ *Extra: http://www.osxlatitu...pported-models/ and then move into what you have done thus far and what is/isn't working. Then we can assist diagnosing the issue and forming a resolution! Good luck!
  9. Ok, so I'll flash back to the standard Dell when I get it up and running - thanks for the tip, I will post results.
  10. Interesting approach on this - I will certainly try it. Of course being a holiday week and me out of town I don't actually have the machine! So I will try this when I get back to it. So, on another note - which BIOS do you have then? Do you have the patched one or the standard Dell? Just curious so I can have the recovery ready if need be.
  11. Yes, the graphics are completely distorted - you can see the top right corner where it says press F2 for setup and F12 for boot options and then you can see the progress bar over top of it but it gets 3/4 of the way across and freezes (regardless of having a USB device in or not at boot)
  12. Yeah, it is on my Nvidia system - what is the quick fix?
  13. If you get a good BIOS patch let me know. I killed another D630 of mine doing the patched one a while back. The boot was terribly slow and the screen was all crazy with colors (for lack of a better term) and wouldn't boot at all. So that one is toast.... It actually freezes completely when booting with a USB stick so I don't think I can recover it.
  14. I thought I might need to do this - so I re-ran the EDP 2.2 and used #4: ANV-Slice Modified Just to try one, and then work my way up. It looks like this is still happening, but the scrolling isn't actually a move of my fingers, just a slight rocking motion on the touchpad. I will try another one to see if it clears things up - but is there a way to tell which one I am using? Such as running uname -a in terminal allows me to see which proc I am using (x86 or x64), but is there a way to see which one it is utilizing? Edit: interestingly, doing the EDP rebuild did not require me to re-do the wifi fix, at least for now.
  15. Resolved the wifi issue in Lion on D630 for me at least: https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/604-weird-issue-with-ethernet/ delete I080211 family next install Broadcom43XXFamilyrev2.kext Found new wifi device, gave it a name and turned on. All seems to be working there. Will try a new touchpad now.
