hey guys a friend of mine gave me a dell optiplex 760, i have 10.6.8 running on it but youtube videos play but without the video just audio. i'm also trying to upgrade it to lion . I don't think my graphics are config right, Can someone help me out please .

How to Install Lion - I went here

 

ok, I remember now! it's been a few weeks so bear with me here.

 

1.) You have to right click (or ctrl click) on the Install Mac OS X Lion.app and goto Show Pack Contents -> Contents -> SharedSupport

2.) Mount InstallESD.dmg image and install xfail to your USB stick (after you had formatted it GUID at 1st of course)

3. xfail will then automagically mount Mac OS X Base System and start copying the Lion setup files to your USB stick (it will take quite a while so make some coffee or something)

4.) download Champlist to install latest Chameleon and install it to USB stick

5. copy your Extra folder to USB stick reboot and install - either fresh or over the top of Snow Leopard

Hey guys just wondering how to you do a clean install of lion on a clean hard drive , how would i create a bootable usb, I'm trying to find a better way to reinstall lion without installing 10.6.8 first.Can someone tell me what i'm missing.

are you able to boot it with windows or linux today ?

I got darwin 10.4.6 installed on the second harddrive just need a boot disc and boot loader, i just need help getting it booted. I think it's a sse2 cpu.

I'm trying to find a boot loader for my son's optipllex gx 240 , i got darwin 10.4.6 installed but can't find a boot loader to boot from. Can one of you guys please help me out.

Actually.. i'm still on SL.. Lion have bugs.. bad bugs.. hence i stay with SL for the time being (offcourse, i have Lion in dualboot)

 

hey Leon with the release of edp 2.1 is it safe to use lion as your main OS, Just wondering if i would have good battery life with my 9 cell battery.

I'm running 10.6.x and EDP 1.9 on a D620 with GMA950 graphics. I would like to Upgrade to Lion + EDP2.1. I still have a legitimate copy of InstallESD.dmg from my mac mini upgrade.

 

I know there are threads on installing Lion, but none that I found that speak specifically of doing this with EDP. The threads are generally about early attempts with a lot of back and forth about variations to deal with issues involving drivers and editing config files. Also, its not clear to me if I can do an upgrade or have to wipe out my running system.

 

Is there a particular thread I should look at?

 

 

 

This is the method i used.. https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/256-how-to-install-lion-on-d620/, also rebuild your system and make sure your not using apple battery manager in edp 1.9 , use voodoo battery kext instead. After i upgraded to 10.7 then i installed 2.1 with no problems.

Hey guys i just upgraded from 1.9 to 2.1 , at first i used the apple battery manager but got a kp , so know i'm using voodoo battery manager and all is well , my machine seems to run a little bit more smoothly know. Here's my Question , i used the sleep method from the wiki but didn't set a bios system password, I just enabled the require password when computer goes to sleep option and it seems to be working . Should i use a bios password or not . also before i upgraded my cpu temp range was from 43 to 60 know its 29 to 40 , will the lower cpu temps hurt my computer.

update: after waking my machine and using it for bout 2min i get kp , tell me to turn off my macine and turn it back on.

try the latest EDP dude, that's all I ever use, that and setting a system password. . .

 

I'm using edp 1.9 , but still no luck. I will wait for 2.1 beta zeppo says sleep works.

yes you can still use edp to disable hibernation. and yes i believe you still need the password. but i don't know if your video will interfear. if it does then try with the sleep enabler from above. like what features?

Okay can't get sleep to work with pmVersion=21 or 24 i get kp with both, I set pmVersion to 0 and i can boot with no kp , but i still have no sleep. Is there a new pmVersion for lion i can use.

1st off let me start off saying that Lion is running almost perfect on my D620.

 

Sleep works, but sometimes after waking, the screen is dark and I have to re-boot to get back to normal.

 

Another thing that sometimes happens is the trackpad starts freaking out erratically, I'm using #4 AnV/Slice modified.

 

other than that everything runs fast and I had to install Rosetta from my Snow Leopard disc to run FCP 2. . .

Okay got 10.7 installed and i updated it to 10.7.1, my question is can i still use edp 1.9 to disable hibernation. Right know i have null power management enable with no sleep enabler, will the native sleep fix in the wiki work or do i need to use the sleep kext in the link u supplied.Also it seems like some of the lion features are turned off any ideas on how to check.

hey guys i installed lion on my d620, how ever i get a kp . It has to do with sleepenabler( busratio=21 cpus=2 arch=i386 pmversion=23).any ideas on how to fix this please.

I have no wake from USB option in the BIOS. The closest thing is USB emulation.

 

try rebuilding your system and use apple power management instead of the null one or repair disk permissions, do repair disk permissions first and rebuild your system from backup, the apply sleep fix in the wiki, I did disk permission like 3 times back to back before it worked.

the d620...it runs decent... but graphics could be a touch faster. have you tried sleep fix option in edp? it got sleep working on my d430.

 

 

I have edp 1.9 , don't see sleep fix option , is this it Touch /System/Library/Extensions/ (Fix alot of weird issues).

hey bronxtech, i updated the sleepenabler in my extra folder. but when i wake it up my screen is white and fades to blue, i have to force it to shutdown.it seems like like sleep is almost there but i'm missing something. also how is lion working out for you, i think when i get this down pack i will try lion.
