Most of the time, I'm sent straight back to the login screen after shutting down. I'll look into it as well.
-
The reason I ask about chamelon is because I thought mountain lion would boot a little faster. I'm thinking about trying the boot list from the m2400 boot pack.
Also shutdown and restart hang some times, as well as the computer won't wake up every other try.
Not much more you can do to make it boot faster, lol. Have a good processor, I use the Core 2 Extreme, and a good SSD with good I/O, and enable TRIM. My E6400 boots ALMOST as fast as the MBP with Retina display, but I don't think I'll ever get spot on.
As for the hanging, I get it too, don't know what I can do about it. I still use Lion more than ML for some reason.

What's the best version on chamelon for mountain lion?
I use the Chameleon supplied by myHack. Works nicely with Lion and ML.

Or could it have something to do with speed step and the fact I'm using a 65w power supply at home?
That is the only viable answer. If you're not using a 90W power supply, the computer is going to lock itself at a lower speed. The BIOS will tell you before you make it to your boot loader. (In your case, that option is off in your BIOS settings, but it's still going to take effect.)
So... use a 90W power supply to stop the problem. It shouldn't do it when your computer is unplugged.

I want to thank you guys so much for helping me.
I GOT SLEEP WORKING!!!
A couple of little glitches but I'll get there.
Anyone having slowdowns at the Dell logo screen with the blue bar progressing to the right?
That's a normal thing (takes longer depending on how much RAM you have) In BIOS, try setting the Boot Time to Minimal.

This issue has been going on for a while, and I finally decided to ask for help. It's like a debate whether my E6400 will wake up from sleep after I reopen the lid. Sometimes it'll wake up normally, sometimes the screen will stay black and not wake up, and at that point, the whole system locks up and I have to force it off. (It may sometimes show the desktop, but then after that lock up completely there, too)
E6400, running OSX Lion 10.7.4, anyone know how to fix this?
-
Nobody here used EDP throughout this whole operation, as far as I know.
-
Even with appropriate cooling, my system did eventually power itself off on ML. Welp, good thing I never removed my Lion partition.
Now we wait for Apple to fix.
-
I've never used ML long enough in a period of time to notice any heating related issues, but usually my fans are off almost all the time in Lion. When using ML, I've noticed that the fans begin kicking itself on, but not to the point where it's going full speed.
-
Has any E6400/E6500 user encountered a problem with their keyboard and trackpad eventually not responding? It's not happening in Lion, but it's happening to me on Mountain Lion.
I fixed it in Lion by using the 0EDP.kext that Mariusz had in his E6400/E6500 research thread, but it didn't fix the issue in ML.

I just read your guide Darvinko, well written. Good job, once again.
-
I hate KP's beyond all reason. Gotta work with them no matter what, lol.
-
Might I suggest to both of you - I install these kexts to my boot stick after each successful install on my system, doing the same (My fix, or permissions repair) as I do on my system. That way, should something KP in a way that I can't undo by either booting in with the stick or single user, I have my backup. FYI iLife 11 and iWork 09 installed and updated without a problem (some of the iLife programs took a little while initializing however). By the way, Tengokuu, which bootpack are you using on your system - the M4300 or Mariusz? The SleepEnabler.kext caused KP on my system.
I'm using the M4300 bootpack.

Here's Intel82566MM.kext: http://www.osx86.net/view/2216-intel82566mm.kext.html
and here's the VoodooHDA package, it will say it failed to install, but ignore it: http://www.osx86.net/view/2746-voodoohda_2.7.4_pkg_installer.html/
-
I used Intel82566MM.kext to get it going.

Good to hear. Did you attempt ethernet yet? I'd like to condense the how to guide into one and would like to find what is working, what isn't and the fixes we've tried and which have worked to make it easier for others. Thanks again for all the updates and trials and errors we've endured. Also I'd like to see you get rid of that WIP in your signature.
I did get Ethernet fixed. However, I am struggling with VoodooBattery being a pest after doing a direct upgrade. I guess its better to do a clean install.
-
I installed ML on top of Lion and it did a successful upgrade. I had to replace the graphics kexts, of course, and the other kexts we know of.
Anywho, the card reader on our systems can be fixed with the VoodooSDHC.kext I have attached.
-
I presume to no avail?
I'm actually not going to bother with ethernet just yet. I'm going to test out if I can install ML right on top of Lion to perform an upgrade, and see if that works.
I have to start a Time Machine backup first, though.
-
Have you hooked up your ethernet and gone into network settings?
Yup.
-
I've noticed how there's no Audio delay with this version of VoodooHDA. I like that~.
Anywho, my keyboard and trackpad locked up while using ML, no big surprise there, I was expecting that with my mental E6400, so I have to load VoodooPS2 along with other kexts for me personally.
Point being, Audio is now working, all that remains is my weird ethernet.
-
Does your ethernet work? That's honestly the last thing I don't see working right now. (Besides bluetooth, I don't even use it.)
-
On a side note, I gave graphics a spin, using Real Racing 2, and it works flawlessly. I can see it touching 60FPS without a problem.
Now that needs to be worked out is Audio...

I set SleepEnabler.kext to go and install in Kext Helper, after that finished, I left Disk Utility to repair permissions. Went outside to get some fresh air, lol. Come back in, the system is sleeping. I turn it back on, and it's waking up and going to sleep perfectly.
I've attached the kext I've used. I have not yet rebooted the system after installing this, however, so use it at your own risk, and have something ready incase you need to remove it. (Although it's working normally for me.)
Install with Kext Helper, repair permissions. Voila.
EDIT:
Rebooted. No kernal panics. Sleep works great.

Sorry, it's been great working with you. Hope the experience in this thread goes a long way in future endeavors.
Thank you again, Darvinko. Wi-Fi is up and running now.
Mountain Lion anyone?

...That IS a crazy idea... I doubt you'd be able to get it to begin flashing.
Anywho, your machine. Your risks.
