  1. Thanks if I can get this thing stable that sounds like the only solution. I have tried all 4 ps2 kexts and all have required a USB keyboard. I don't mind spending a few bucks. But if I am stuck with external input I will switch back to Ubuntu. I will still need different drivers but everything else works. I must be doing something wrong..... I am going to try this one more time with a clean install. I reflashed A17 bios to default and changed SATA settings ACHP (sp?) enabled. I see there are Vanilla DSDT files. I am not sure if this is the way to go or even how, when, where to install them. I tried custom A17 bios but no improvement. I format USB to GUID journaled Use disk utility to restore retail 10.6.3 to USB Download from wiki site Chameleon and the extra zip file Download EDP to USB for D630 Intel Graphics 1.9.2 Install Chameleon to USB, I select all 3 options. This adds a boot file, and an extra file Unzip Extras to USB replacing the Extra file from Chameleon Boot off USB, format disk in disk utility, run osx install, reboot Install Chameleon, EDP tool & configure in Terminal for D630 intel. Repair permissions, reboot. I tried all 4 ps2 kexts. I have tried this a couple of times and it seems to work but I am stuck with USB keyboard and mouse. Am I missing something? I have scanned the forums and it seems many have had success so I know this should work. I would hate to get this close and give up. If anyone has any thoughts throw me a bone. I really don't want to clutter up the forum keep asking for help. I am just a noob trying to find my way ... Thanks again, Freedomrock
  2. Thanks for your response. I went ahead with a clean install of 6.3.3. I don't have laptop keyboard or wireless working. Everything else is ok. USB Keyboard works but there must be a way to get my keyboard working. Any ideas? I have a Dell 1395 wireless card. Do you know if I can make this work? Do I need to rebrand or just buy something different? I have posted this else where but I am not getting much help. Once i get this semi-stable I will clone and then try upgrade to 6.8. Thanks - Freedomrock
  3. Did you ever get your onboard keyboard to work? I have a D630 with Intel graphics running 10.6.3. I can not get my keyboard to work either. Trackpad works somewhat. Audios also works. I used EDP 1.9.2. I am thinking of downgrading to earlier EDP but not sure if that will muck it up worse.
  4. Dell D630 running 10.6.3, Intel Graphics, Dell 1395 Wireless - Installed using EDP 1.9.2 For the most part everything is running ok. Regarding my Dell 1395 wireless; do I need to replace or can I rebrand? Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. I have reviewed the archives and I am not real clear. Are there any issues with upgrading this configuration to 6.8? Thanks, FRock
  5. I solved my locked up Terminal Window problem...I deleted the file "com.apple.Terminal.plist" from the /username/Library/Preferences/ folder and restarted. I now have Terminal back. I guess no one has any thoughts regarding Dell 1395 wireless issue. Regards -
  6. I have a Dell D630 with Intel Graphics and Dell Wireless 1395 running OSX 10.6.3. I used the USB install method described on wiki. I ran EDP 1.9.2 without problem and repaired permissions (several times). Terminal app worked without problem. The keyboard, trackpad kexts don't seem to be working long. I have tried all four options with VoodooPS2Controller working best. I can use the laptop keyboard and trackpad for a while but I eventually have to use USB keyboard and mouse. Repairing permissions does not seem to help. I tried to do another EDP build using the edptoolcommand. The terminal window opens but it is locked up. I can not enter anything from keyboard. Terminal seems to be the only app locked up. When I open Terminal directly no joy. Any suggestions to get Terminal back up and running? To clarify it ran fine post install but now I have not checked ethernet, bluetooth or external VGA but everything else seems ok. Perhaps I should ask this in a separate post but any suggestions on getting my wireless card up and running? It is seen as Airport Card using AppleAirPortBrcm4311.kext. Should I be looking at rebranding or buying a new card? At one time I actually had this card working but I can't remember what I did. Thanks, Frock
  7. Ever since I upgraded to Lion my Mini server has had an on and off again problem reading USB drives. After trying a different USB drive I was able to install Chameleon. I installed OS X 10.6.3 using the USB method described on the wiki. The install went fine but after running EDP and rebooting I am being prompted to restart over and over. I repaired permissions prior to reboot. Is there a way to determine what is causing the problem? I have a good install on a 60 GB drive but i want to try and use this Seagate 500 GB Hybrid Drive. Any suggestions on how to trouble shoot? Thanks in advance. Freedomrrock
  8. First thanks for providing what looks like the perfect site! I have a Dell d630 with Intel graphics, 4 MB RAM. I have a working 630 10.6.3 configuration using Slic Install with a few variations. Everything works except external video. I want to remove the existing 60 GB hd and replace with Seagate Hybrid 500 GB. I have an original OSX 10.3 install disk. I wanted to upgrade to latest Snow Leopard in the process. I wanted to try the solution offered on this site. I am hoping a dedicated Dell solution would be the best. I know how to update the bios. I see there is a custom bios for D630 with intel video. Is this the first step before booting off USB? I currently have the A17 bios with proper ACHI settings. Is this Hybrid drive ok? I am able to restore OSX Install DVD to USB drive. When I try to install Chameleon to USB I receive an error message, says something about this disk is not running OSX. I think I can follow the rest of the instructions but I must be missing something obvious. How do I install Chameleon on the USB? If I use custom bios is everything else the same on USB install? Do I upgrade Snow Leopard after running EDP? If I can't make this work do you guys know if I can use something like Carbon Copy Cloner to clone my existing hd to the hybrid drive? My goal was for a fresh install but I will take what I can get. If any of you gurus can walk me through this I would be most thankful. I somehow figured out how to do this in the past. Swapping out hard drives is easy, is there a way to do this hanging the new 500 GB hd off my Mac? I already have an 2.5 External USB enclosure. So in summary..... Will this work with the Seagate 500 GB SATA Hybrid drive? How do I install bootloader on USB? When do I update to custom bios? First? I realize I need to be on-line to upgrade OSX SL, do I need to be on-line for any other part of this process? At what point in this process should I upgrade from 10.6.3 to 10.6.8? Would it be easier attaching new drive and configure from Mac? Am I better off using Carbon Copy to clone my existing drive and restoring to hybrid drive? Regards, Freedomrock Noobie
